- 1.1.0 Patch Notes | RUIN REMIX UPDATE - 26 June 2025
Hey all,It's been a crazy month-and-a-bit since Into the Restless Ruins came out, and we haven't been sat back sipping cocktails in the sun (partly because we're in Scotland, so very little sun)! No, we've been working hard on this chunky free update for you all, so without further ado... introducing the Ruin Remix! This has been guided entirely by the player feedback we've received. In particular two things have been very clear: first, you wanted the Maiden's favours to keep being useful later in a run when you already have plenty of cards in your deck; and second you wanted more ruins to conquer! So we've done those things, alongside a bunch of other balancing changes, some new cards, and a couple of bug fixes.Full change notes below...Once again thanks a ton to everyone who has picked up the game, if you haven't as yet had the opportunity please leave us a Steam review as that would he…
- Patch 1.0.9 | Into the Restless Ruins - 27 May 2025
Hi all, we've been reading through all of your feedback and bugs reports, on Steam, our Discord, and by using the in-game F8 report function. We hear you that there are some balancing tweaks and other changes that you would like for later in the game, and we're thinking through how best to implement these. We don't want to rush any big balancing changes, so in the meantime we've released a small patch to fix some quicker feedback and issues that have been reported, and also adding a feature that we got asked for a lot since the demo - full mouse controls! Full patch notes are below. Once again thanks a ton to everyone who has picked up the game and especially anyone who's left a Steam review - they're a huge help for getting small indie teams like ours visibility, and we read every single one! Cheers, James, Rachel & Tony. Into the Restless Ruins - v1.0.9 - 27/05/2025 New Updates Added…

- THANK YOU - 20 May 2025
Hi all! Phew, what a week, eh? As we emerge from the launch fog, we just wanted to take a moment to drop a quick THANK YOU. If you haven't been on this end of a game launch before, the closest thing I can liken it to is an exam - except it's an exam you've spent over a year studying for. Is all your work good, or not? Will you pass or fail? Oh gosh, the nerves on launch day. So it's been the most wonderful experience seeing all of the new dungeoneers explore the ruins they've built. Already, we've seen everything from the gamer rage over Clava Cairn's Warden, to no-rotate runs! We've been overwhelmed by the incredible reviews, here are a few of our favourites... "My night's sleep may well be RESTLESS and RUINED cause I can't stop thinking about playing this banger of a game." - ekenz "Into the Restless Ruin really surprised me. The core loop of building the dungeon, uncovering the seals…

- The demo for unique deckbuilder Into the Restless Ruins is now even better - 26 February 2025
I love roguelike deckbuilders, but I'm always on the lookout for a game that takes the genre one step further. Games like Balatro, Slay the Spire, and Inscryption are all unique in their own way, but Into the Restless Ruins is doing something equally as interesting. If you're yet to try the game's original demo, which has been around for some time, it's just been massively updated for Steam Next Fest, making it better than ever. Read the rest of the story... - Demo drops for ex GTA dev's new roguelike that makes you a dungeon master - 11 February 2025
As fun as dungeon crawling can be, being dungeon master is often just as rewarding. Pacing out the rooms, threats, and treasure offers a particular kind of satisfaction. New roguelike Into the Restless Ruins blends the two through deckbuilding, where you build out the map each night using different cards, creating more rooms for your hero to fight through. It's a captivating combo, all rooted in Scottish folklore, and there's now a new demo for you to try. Read the rest of the story... - Dev Diary - October '24 - 28 October 2024
Hello! I'm Tony back once again, slightly later in the month than usual but with the same big wodge of development news.. Weapons Reworked Another aspect of the game that we weren't super happy with in the demo is how weapons are given to the player. Into the Restless Ruins is never meant to be a full-on action game in a Vampire Survivors style, and we always want the cards that you play to be important to your survival rather than allowing players to build an arsenal big enough that they can dodge roll their way to success. So we hid new weapons away in late-stage fog rooms, and made it so that you can only carry one at a time. This had two unintended consequences: firstly it meant often players just wouldn't see them as they would have explore a lot; and secondly it meant that all weapons had to be useful in the same set of situations - it was no good having a weapon that only worked…
- Dev Diary - September '24 - 18 September 2024
Hello! I'm Tony back once again. Not with the ill behaviour, as fans of 90's hip hip or dance music might expect, but with another update on what we've been doing this month on Into the Restless Ruins. Watching People Play the Demo As I mentioned in last month's dev update the demo came out in early August, so a big chunk of our work recently has been watching folks play. We've been really blown away by the response to it, it's been much better than we expected! Thousands of you have played, and we've been really enjoying seeing the layouts you've created and the extra challenges you've set for yourselves as we've watched Youtube and Twitch streams. A big shout out to the folks who joined our Discord and chatted tactics while sharing their crazy builds. Honestly, we would never have imagined that someone would play for this long and aim to fill in the entire map! And in particular, Disc…
