- Release Date Update - 24 April 2026
Hello, this is Team CONCODE.First, we'd like to thank everyone who has been waiting for Graytail.Today we have some unfortunate news to share. Graytail's release date is being pushed back. For the past 40 months, our team has been putting everything we have into Graytail. We've refused to compromise on the core elements of the game — the dungeons, boss fights, and story direction — and as a two-person team, development has taken longer than we initially expected. After much consideration, we've concluded that we won't be able to meet our original release window in the second half of 2026, and we've decided to move the release to the first half of 2027.We're sorry for keeping those who have been waiting for the game waiting even longer. We'll make sure the time you've spent waiting feels worth it by delivering a game we can all be proud of.Thank you.Team CONCODE
- New Demo Available! - 25 January 2026
Hello! We’re SyntaxFossil and PixelRoseBud from Team Concode. Today, we’re excited to share news about our third demo update! This demo update wasn’t originally planned from the start. However, after several things came together, we felt that “now is the right time to properly show where the game is headed.”We were honored to be nominated in the Visual category at Taipei Game Show 2026, and that gave us extra motivation to further refine the visual direction Graytail is moving toward. At the same time, as the story became more clearly defined, the concept of the town changed significantly. We felt it would be best to share these changes with you through a new demo. From 2D to 3DAlthough Graytail has always been built in 3D, we previously designed it to look as much like a 2D game as possible. In this demo, we’ve taken a different approach by applying perspective to the camera and overhaulin…

- 0.3.1 Demo Update - 23 June 2025
It's been about 3 months since we opened the demo build on March 19th. During this time, 1,600 players have played the demo through our Steam page and PlayX4 event. We're grateful to have received a lot of feedback, and based on all the feedback we've gathered, we've decided to update the demo once more. The combat system has been comprehensively added to and improved, and a new mini dungeon has been added. The overall mood of the map has also been improved to create Graytail's unique atmosphere. Combat Improvements We received a lot of feedback that combat was monotonous, so we added and improved systems to make combat more dynamic. In the previous demo, enemies would simply follow the player in a line, making them easy to deal with. In the update, we've modified enemies to surround the protagonist. Also, enemies used to have their attacks canceled when hit, but now once they start an…

- Demo Now Available! - 19 March 2025
Hello, we are SyntaxFossil and PixelRoseBud, the developers of Graytail. Graytail's new demo has finally been released! This build contains the fruits of our development journey spanning over two years. For us, this is an important milestone in our long development journey, and also an exciting moment as we await our first serious evaluation. To celebrate this special build, we'd like to share our project's story with you. Kickoff (Month 0) In the summer of 2022, we began gathering ideas for our next project after our mobile game 'The Way Home'. Mobile or PC game? Roguelike or something else? We spent about 6 months contemplating our direction. Then, around winter, we happened to play 'The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap' and fell deeply in love with it, inspiring us to create a similar exploration-focused adventure game. "Won't a year be enough?" In January 2023, we started with high s…
- Devlog #2 - 5 February 2025
Hello! We are developers MJ and SH! It has already been three months since the last development update. During this time, we’ve been working hard on the game. We’ll share what has been worked on, and at the end of this post, we’ll share our schedule as well. Chapter 2 Mini-Boss - Death Worm The mini-boss appearing in Chapter 2, Death Worm, is a long and massive worm that performs fast charging attacks. This creature can burrow into the ground, making it difficult for the protagonist to avoid attacks. When its body is severed, it splits into two smaller worms and continues attacking, making the battle increasingly complex. Chapter 2 Main Boss - Excavator The Chapter 2 boss, Excavator, is a massive machine equipped with two giant saw blades. It's incredibly powerful and durable, so it cannot be defeated with external attacks alone. The player must infiltrate the machine's interior to dest…

We’re planning to release it in early access in the first half of next year. For those who are eagerly awaiting the game, we’d like to occasionally share our development journey through our official Steam channel here. Alright, let’s get started! Here are the key updates we've worked on since the last update to our Steam page. A bike has been added! 🛵 As the world map has expanded, we needed a fast travel option. You can unlock it after clearing Chapter 1. It allows for quick travel and you can also use a booster for a short period. Additionally, you can use kicker ramp to reach higher places! The design for Chapter 1's field is complete! 🌊 Inspired by the Nan Madol region of Micronesia, we've created a coastal area with mangrov…
