- The Defense Gamemode - 13 December 2024
Putting the defense back in tower defense! New Experimental Gamemode This update adds a new gamemode available when playing the new map "Valley Defense". Instead of the usual spawning mechanics, robots now spawn in a series of increasingly difficult waves. Place your mushrooms, call in the wave, and watch your fungi fend off the incoming automatons. Instead of the usual mycelium spreading mechanic, you start with a small starting area that automatically expands as you complete waves. Mushrooms do not generate new cards themselves. Instead, you get a full hand of mushroom cards before a wave and a full card of ability cards during the wave. Additionally, OM generation only happens once, at the end of the wave. Full Update Notes: New: Defense gamemode New: Agriculture Shroom New: OM icon New: UI feedback when mushroom failed to place New: Esc now deselects the card in the hand Fix: Failsa…
- EA.02.02 - 24 August 2024
Minor update with a few small additions and fixes made over the past few months. A larger update will be coming soon(tm). New: Fast forwarding: x1, x2, x4 speeds New: Ground terrain attenuation values are now dependant on height. This also means terrain will show properly on the minimap New: Textures for Virtual Codeprinopsis and Emergency Penicillium Fix: First projectile from some mushrooms flying in a random direction Fix: Ground terrain on maps Fort, valley, and Hill has been tweaked to be slightly smoother Fix: Robots now consistently path to the closest available spot to eat mushrooms - Chilton (@technocat5000)
- The Projectile Update - 11 June 2024
Tired of spores not obeying the laws of physics?? Well they still don't really, but It is slightly more realistic now. Projectile Arcs Gravity exists! Projectiles now arc through the air. They also travel slightly slower overall, so shooting mushrooms now make an attempt to lead their shots. Projectile Collision Hit detection was previously nonexistant; Shrooms simply picked the closest target, sent a spore linearly in that direction, and damage was applied once the spore reached its destination, irrespective of how far the robot actually was from the spore at that point in time. Damage is now done purely based on collision. Additionally, terrain objects now block projectiles and line of sight, increasing the need to tactically place offensive mushrooms on higher levels. New Content Along with the projectile mechanic overhaul this update adds a new map and two new mushroom cards: a bran…

- Fungal Fiefdom Released - 30 April 2024
Wow... It's been a busy 4 and a bit months. But It's finally here! Are we finished? Not even close! There's still a ton of content, mechanics, and improvements we have yet to make. But it's about time we opened up to a wider audience to help us create something as close to perfection as we have the time to make. We hope you enjoy what Fungal Fiefdom has to offer already. If you have any feedback, good or bad, give us a shout on our discord! - Chilton (@technocat5000)
- Early Access - 30 March 2024
It has been just over two months since the GameJam that created Fungal Fiefdom ended. And with about a month to go until EA release we thought we'd share a quick update on what the team's been up too, and what to expect. New mycelium propagation The mycelium growth has been entirely overhauled. Previously, it was just a circular decal that slowly scaled up. Now, the mycelium propagates through and around terrain (slightly) more realistically. Most obstacles slow mycelium generation somewhat, rocks being particularly difficult for it to penetrate, and trees and barriers blocking growth entirely. New terrain capabilities Along with more obstacle generation optimisations and backend improvements, the terrain and navigation mesh systems have been generalised. This allows us to have multiple terrain heights, creating more interesting layouts. Both this and the new mycelium propagation (and s…
