- Best indie games festival + demo update - 31 August 2026
Hi everyone! In this small report we want to share the recent demo update and some festival news! Best Indie Games FestivalFrom 01.09 till 08.09 our demo is taking part in the Best Indie Game Steam Festival. The event is organised by the people from that YouTube channel and we are very thankful for the opportunity to share our game there. There will also be a live stream with lots of new indies on that channel, so take a look!Demo updateIn this update we introduced a couple of changes that should improve the UX and the first-time player experience, and fix performance and localisation issues.Card interaction with the worldNow, when using a card on a tile, the card will snap to the tile, so the player does not need to select the tile precisely. We also added an extra tutorial screen explaining how to use cards - it seems the card usage mechanic was not that obvious to some players.Highlig…
- Chaos Islands Demo Now Available! - 17 August 2026
The Chaos Islands Demo Is Here! It has been some time since our last development report. During the past year, we focused on adding content, completing the chapter map, adding narrative elements, and improving the game's presentation. We have also decided to move away from monthly reports. They took significant time away from development, so future reports will accompany major milestones. Other than that: The Chaos Islands demo is now available on Steam! Below is an overview of the main additions. The Node MapEach chapter now generates its own node map. Its structure and content are defined by the chapter: available node types, difficulty levels, enemies, quests, cards, and rewards can all differ. The previous reports introduced the foundation of the map. Since then, we completed the progression systems around it: Loot nodes provide cards and currency as chapter rewards.Shop nodes offer…

- Dev report #4 ~ February update - 10 March 2025
Hello everyone! Welcome to this month’s Chaos Islands Dev Report! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work improving the game, refining its systems, and introducing new content. Here’s what we’ve been up to! Progression System Updates Progression is a core aspect of Chaos Islands, and we’ve made significant strides in developing its mechanics. The node generation algorithm is now complete! This was a crucial step in designing the game’s progression system, allowing us to create a dynamic and engaging experience for players. With the algorithm in place, we’ve started working on player movement mechanics, different node types, and interaction mechanics to bring the system to life and showcase them on incoming playtests. Additionally, we are constantly working on improving the visuals, ensuring they fit seamlessly into the evolving gameplay experience. Enhancing UX and UI Improving…
- Dev report #2 ~ Game loop - 7 January 2025
Welcome to this month's development report! In this update, we’re excited to share details about the game loop and explore the mechanics you’ll encounter during gameplay. From resource management and shrine energy to chaos buildup and demon invasions, we’ll provide an in-depth look at how each system contributes to the overall gameplay experience. Building Stage The building stage is a key part of the game where you focus on constructing your settlement, strengthening your economy, supporting shrine energy, and preparing to face enemies by setting up defenses. Your economy plays a vital role in securing victory. You'll need to gather resources to sustain shrine energy, generate currency, and earn combat points to purchase new buildings and combat cards. Resource Balancing While gathering and spending resources, it's crucial to maintain a balanced distribution. If one resource becomes ov…
- Building for Victory: Key Structures in Focus - 3 December 2024
Building is one of the core mechanics of the game, and much of your success depends on what - and how - you construct your settlement. Each building serves a unique purpose, with distinct properties and behaviors that can function as separate mechanics. Strategic decisions on which buildings to use will be key to adapting to different in-game challenges. In this weekly report, we’re highlighting several key structures. We hope you enjoy it! Key Constructions Main Shrine The Main Shrine is a central, pivotal structure placed at the heart of the map. It anchors all surrounding islands, and if it runs out of energy or is destroyed, the game is lost. Your primary objective is to protect and sustain this structure throughout the game. Economy Buildings Managing resources and currency is essential to keeping the Main Shrine active. Resources are also needed to purchase defenses, islands, atta…
- Dev report #0 ~ The state of the game - 2 November 2024
Hello and welcome to our first development report! We’re a small team of game developers based in Warsaw who love creating unique and engaging experiences. This game started as a simple idea, and with your support, it’s growing into something we’re proud of. Starting today, we’ll be posting updates here on our Steam page. In each report, we’ll share our progress, show new features, and let you know about upcoming changes. Thank you for joining us on this journey and let's jump into what we currently have! Building Building mechanic is the core of our game. Also, this part is closely connected with other parts of the game - the way you build your settlement impacts different events that occur during the game session, dialogues and the behavior of the enemies during the siege wave. It is important to keep building mechanics simple to understand but meaningful when it comes to building you…
