  • Project: Werwolf Dev Blog #6 Caves - 6 April 2025

Greetings Hunter, Welcome to our new developer blog! This post will be a bit shorter as we’re currently working on an exciting new feature. Let me show you what’s coming. Our upcoming feature introduces Caves—yes, caves! Scattered throughout the map, these caves are home to werewolves. Inside, you’ll find not only packs of werewolves but also nests of the Black Plague and key items that will aid you on your journey as a Hunter. There are small caves associated with specific points of interest, such as the mine, and larger, more dangerous caves that serve as the hearts of the nests. Destroying these nests will significantly reduce the number of werewolves in the area and gradually weaken their strength, making it easier for you to fight back and cleanse the world of these creatures. Once you fully clear a cave, it becomes "cleansed," allowing you to freely harvest its mineral resources.…

  • Project: Werwolf Dev Blog #5 Engine Update and Cabins - 8 March 2025

Upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.5 With the latest version of Unreal Engine, we have access to a range of new features that make the game world more immersive, realistic, and dynamic. One of the biggest additions is Mega Light, a groundbreaking technology that allows us to use a vast number of dynamic light sources—without significantly impacting performance. Previously, we often had to limit the number of light sources to maintain a stable frame rate. This was especially noticeable indoors, where cabins, houses, and even streetlights had to be designed with fewer lights. But with Mega Light, that’s no longer a problem. Now, we can fully utilize atmospheric lighting to create dense, immersive environments. Whether it's flickering candles in an abandoned cabin, softly glowing streetlights, or the eerie glow of a fire pit—all these details can now be fully realized to enhance the world’s atmosp…

  • Project: Werwolf Dev Blog #4 A new year and the Watchtower - 18 January 2025

Greetings Hunters! First of all happy new year to you. We hope you arrived well in 2025, and welcome to our first dev update this year! Now we come to the more important stuff happening at Evolve games. Most of you know we at the studio are just 2 main developers working on Project werewolf and we had a lot of difficulty in the last quarter of 2024 especially in our real life. Because of that we stopped development around mid of october till now. We had a lot of workload to finish and of course the holiday seasons, where we just recharged our batteries to start fresh in 2025. We are sorry we went dark so sudden but sometimes life can be hard. Now that we resumed development, we want to talk about new stuff. Secondly, we want to introduce the new watchtowers! The watchtowers are a central point of safety in the night, where you can safely rest and equip yourself. No werewolf can attack y…

  • Project: Werwolf Dev Blog #3 Orientation and dangers - 24 August 2024

Welcome, Hunters! In this third installment of our Dev Blog, we will delve into three significant aspects of the game: the Cathedral, the Smartwatch, and the ominous Black Plague. The Cathedral: The Cathedral serves as the central landmark on the map, prominently situated on a massive hill. It is the foundation around which every Point of Interest (POI) is constructed, allowing players to navigate and explore the surroundings with ease. However, be cautious! The Cathedral is heavily affected by the Black Plague, creating an environment filled with danger. What is the Black Plague? The Black Plague refers to a toxic mushroom that proliferates across the game world, particularly in caves. This mushroom is hazardous; prolonged exposure can lead to permanent damage to your character. The Smartwatch: The innovative Smartwatch replaces the traditional HUD, offering players a more immersive ex…

  • Dev-Blog #2 Wildlife and Inventory - 19 July 2024

Greeting Hunters, Welcome to the second dev blog of Project Werewolf. Today, we want to talk a little bit about wildlife, forests, and food sources in combination with our inventory system. Firstly, we want to talk about the forests because we have a quite unique open world. The forests and all around them are procedurally generated, from small cabins (More in a future post) to how the wildlife behaves and which animals spawn at which biome. Everything will be random once you start a new game. The same spot with another seed Even the potential food is different, from berries to herbs or trees with fruits on them. Big POI's like the Farm or the Cathedral are not procedurally generated; they are handmade and will exist in every save game. You are free to use it as orientation! Our goal is to create a memorable, open world that tells our story but also changes once you begin a new game or…

  • Dev-Blog #1 Project: Werewolf - 8 June 2024

Welcome to our first ever dev blog on Project Werewolf. Our plan is to drop a new dev blog every month to keep you up to date on everything we are working on. We want to talk about the current state of Project werewolf and what's already done or will be finished in the next few weeks. But keep in mind, everything we are showing is still in progress. Firstly, we have a fully fleshed-out POI called The Farm. The Farm is supposed to be the starting point for your journey Project: Werewolf, and the first spot you will explore and let you experience the game. We aim to give every POI something special, so you always have to go back and check if you missed something. Secondly we want to talk about the Werewolfs the key aspect of the game. Werewolfs are the main threat in Project: Werewolf that will react to you and have different behaviors depending on how you play and how you progress throug…
