  • Deep Desktop 2.0 Update + Linux Release - 13 September 2026

A completely rewritten version of Deep DesktopAfter about a year of work, Deep Desktop 2.0 is here. The objective of this new version is to address many of the pain points that Deep Desktop has had since its release. It comes with a complete redesign of how the menus look and work, a switch to the Godot game engine, and a completely redesigned depth estimation system. This replaces the separate installation systems for each GPU brand, which were unstable and took up a lot of disk space with duplicated files. For existing usersIf you are an existing user of Deep Desktop 1.1.0 or the 1.2.0 beta, the new system is entirely incompatible with the old model installations, so you will need to reinstall your models. Some models are already packaged with the new version, so you may only need an initial installation of around 1 minute. Subsequent updates to the model runtimes should only take a fe…

  • Version 1.1.0 - 23 September 2024

So the version 1.1.0 is live. Even though there was a lot of code changes in the background, normally the experience should not be too different compared to version 1.0.4. You will be asked if you want to delete the models installations when first launching the program. If you want to go back to version 1.0.4 at some point, you should say no to this prompt but be aware that models installations are not compatible between both versions. Here is a list of the main changes: All Modes: - Models settings are now saved. - 180° and 360° screen shapes are now selectable. To be used with 180° or 360° videos, some can be found there (they need to be downloaded): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzuqhhs6NWbgTzMuM09WKDQ - UI buttons are slightly smaller to allow for more options to be displayed. Screen Capture Mode: - Vertical cropping as been added to reduce the vertical size of the area sent to t…

  • Crash Fix Update 1.0.4c - 27 July 2024

Bug Fixes - Forcing the usage of pytorch version 1.23.0 when using the Nvidia CUDA version as the latest 1.24.0 version was requiring a DLL that is not installable using Redistribuable right now. If you have installed models in the last 2 days and experienced the "Depth Extractor crashed" error, I invite you to go to the Local menu, delete the defective model and to reinstall it.

This allows you to move your head freely but expect the screen to be slightly distorted when not in the "optimal" position. - Adding warning text for the "delete models" option to insure that users are aware that the content of the folder will be deleted when they are using a custom folder. The default path to the models is also displayed by default now. - Adding F1 to F12 shortcut buttons. They can be used even if Deep Desktop is not the focused window. - Switching from Arrow buttons to Tabs buttons in the capture menu. - The cursor is automaticaly moved to the window when launching the program. This behavior can also be mapped to a shortcut. Ideally would have also brought the window to the foreground but the behaviour was inconsistent so it was removed for now.
