- New Sequential Collapse Mechanics - 28 May 2026
I've been working on a brand new sequential collapse system for Venusville, and I'm really excited to finally show it off! Until now, when your city collapsed, it all happened at the same time. No buildup, no drama — just gone. With the new system, the floating city progressively cracks and collapses based on balance and stress distribution across the structure. The more imbalanced your city, the more dramatic — and devastating — the chain reaction. But it's not just about spectacle. The sequential nature also gives you a window to react — scramble your resources, rebalance your city, and pull back from the brink before it's too late. Whether you save it or watch it fall is now up to you. 📹 Watch the devlog here: The video features 3 different collapse sequences captured from the same save, each with a different imbalance setup and camera perspective — so you can really see how the des…
- Atmos Factory Redesign - 20 May 2026
Greetings Pioneers of Venusville! 🌥️The Atmos Factory is one of the most important buildings in the colony — and also one of the very first buildings ever created for the game. But over time… it started to show its age.Next to many of the newer structures, the old Atmos Factory simply didn’t hold up visually anymore (as some of you already pointed out 😉). So I decided it was time for a redesign. There was also another issue: the building was originally designed as a standalone structure, inspired by traditional mining facilities that operate far away from colonies. But gameplay-wise, that no longer made much sense. The old design couldn’t properly connect to domes or airlocks. It was also difficult to see what was happening inside the building or whether workers and robots were actively operating there. So the Atmos Factory has now been completely reworked.🏗️ What Changed?🔹 New Glass Dom…
- 🌍 Exploration, Progression & New Planetary Map - 19 May 2026
I’ve been working on a shift in how progression and exploration work in Venusville,🚀 Moving Away from a Traditional Tech TreeI’m moving away from a classic, linear tech tree and replacing it with a discovery-driven progression system.Instead of seeing all technologies upfront, you’ll unlock knowledge by exploring Venus itself. As your city flies through the atmosphere, you’ll scan the planet for anomalies and points of interest. Reaching and investigating them can lead to:New technologies and city systemsAccess to extra resources and even previously unknown resourcesDeeper understanding of Venus’ atmospheric layers, hazards, and history. Some discoveries may unlock entirely new mechanics, while others expand or refine existing ones.Smaller technologies will still exist as incremental upgrades — improving efficiency, stability, or control — but the most impactful breakthroughs won’t be h…
- 🤖 Venusville: Prologue — Meet the Prequel - 18 May 2026
Hey Pioneers! If you've been following Venusville, there's something you should know about.**Venusville: Prologue** is a standalone prelude to the main game — a focused, mission-driven experience set in Venus's polar atmosphere. Robots only. No colonists. A floating platform, a crew of bots, and a mystery building at the edge of a polar cyclone. It's not the old demo. It's a proper entry point — one that introduces the world and the floating-city mechanics before you take on the full colony.More details on the way. In the meantime, wishlist Prologue and follow its community for updates:👉 See you in the clouds. ☁️
- Venusville – Upcoming Job System Overhaul Update 🚀 - 18 December 2025
Hey everyone,Over the last month I’ve been working on something big behind the scenes: a complete bottom-up rewrite of Venusville’s job system. This affects how machines, buildings, and NPC workers decide what to do, how they move, and how they react when things change. This update was triggered by one of the most serious issues in the game so far: NPCs stopping work, getting stuck, and eventually starving to death — even when food was available. Not exactly the future we’re aiming for on Venus. What was wrong? The old system worked most of the time, but it was fragile. When things went off the “happy path” — like:switching production recipespower cutsstopping an NPC mid-jobremoving buildings or machines…the system could break in subtle ways. NPCs would stop responding, jobs wouldn’t recover, and saves could load into completely broken states. Fixing this on top of the old logic started to…
- 🌌 Venusville – Demo v1.9 Patch 1 Released! - 27 October 2025
Hey everyone! A little over a week ago, I released Demo v1.9, and I’ve received a lot of amazing feedback. Thank you to everyone who played, tested, and sent suggestions or bug reports — it really helps a lot!Since then, I’ve been hard at work addressing as many of the issues and requests as possible. I also ran intensive testing sessions myself, found more bugs, and fixed many of them. And yes — I’ve also added a few new features and improvements along the way. Here’s what’s new and fixed in Demo 1.9 Patch 1.🧭 Improved TutorialTutorial steps and wording have been made clearer and more detailed.Added an info button on tutorial notifications — it opens the related article in the built in Venopedia.Updated several steps for clarity:“Battery” renamed to Power Storage (to match the other UI buttons).Added step to enable SO₂ mining in the Atmos Miner (was causing confusion).Water Fountain re…
- ☁️ “From the Clouds of Venus — Thank You for an Incredible Next Fest!” - 17 October 2025
Wow — what a week. Seeing Venusville reach as high as #2 and stay in the top 5 in the Colony Sim and City Builder categories has been surreal.I’m a solo developer, and I honestly didn’t expect this kind of response. Your feedback, playtime, and wishlists have been incredibly motivating — it really helps me push forward. The new demo 1.9 (were released today) is live and will stay available after the festival, so feel free to jump in anytime, share your thoughts, or tell a friend who might enjoy it.Thank you all for making this an unforgettable Next Fest! 💛
- 🚀 Venusville 1.9 Demo is Out Now! - 17 October 2025
Hey Colonists! 🌆It’s been a while since the last demo (v1.7.6 back in May!) — I originally planned to jump straight to the big 2.0 Beta, but since time has flown by, I decided to release one last Alpha demo (v1.9) to bridge the gap. This update is packed with improvements, bug fixes, and some exciting new features to explore while 2.0 continues to take shape!🌫️ No More Fog — Clearer View, Better GameplayI’ve removed the volumetric fog that used to envelope the city — while it added realism, having your whole city submerged in clouds (especially at night) made the game frustrating and sometimes unplayable. Initially I made fog togglable, but nearly every tester simply switched it off. So, in this build, fog is turned off for good. The surrounding clouds remain, but the space between the camera and the city is always cleared, giving you full visibility and letting you better appreciate…
- 🌬 New Building Reveal: The Oxygen Generator! - 16 September 2025
Hello Pioneers of Venusville! 🪐In Demo Alpha 2.0, I’m introducing one of the earliest life-support buildings in your city: the Oxygen Generator.🏭 What is the Oxygen Generator? The Oxygen Generator is a cheap and easy-to-build structure designed to keep your colonists alive in the harsh Venusian atmosphere. While basic, it plays a crucial role in your city’s early growth.Early Game Utility: Provides essential oxygen before more advanced buildings like the Gas Processor become available.Capacity: Supplies enough oxygen for 20 colonists per generator.Process: Converts CO₂ into O₂, keeping your domes breathable.🔧 Limitations & UpgradesAt first, the Oxygen Generator has a simple drawback: it discards the carbon left over from processing CO₂. But later in the game, you’ll be able to recycle this carbon in your factories—turning waste into a valuable production boost. The Oxygen Generator wil…
- ❄️ New Building Reveal: The Cryo Core! - 28 August 2025
Hello Pioneers of Venusville! 🌌Life above the Venusian clouds isn’t just about staying afloat—it’s also about staying cool. With the upcoming Alpha 2.0 Demo update (and the Prologue), I'm introducing the Cryo Core: a vital building for pushing your colony deeper into the atmosphere.🏠 Why do we need Cooling Systems?Your colony’s domes are designed to protect and shelter your people. But once you descend into regions hotter than 70 °C (158 °F), domes will begin to overheat. Without intervention, colonists will suffer, and your city’s survival will be at risk. That’s where the Cryo Core comes in. 💨 Cooling MethodsSince water is scarce on Venus, we rely on alternative coolants:Compressed CO₂ → Basic, highly available, but less efficient.Ammonia → Mid-tier coolant, more effective and stable.Hydrazine → Advanced late-game coolant, offering the best performance. (It also doubles as a powerfu…
- 🌌 New Building Reveal: The Scanner Tower! - 23 August 2025
Greetings Pioneers of Venusville! 🚀In our upcoming Alpha 2.0 Demo update (and the Prologue), we’re introducing a brand-new building: the Scanner Tower.🛰 What is the Scanner Tower? The Scanner Tower acts as your city’s radar and atmospheric scanner, giving you vital information about the Venusian skies and the dangerous world below.Range: Scan up to 100 km (60 mi) around your flying city.Depth: Penetrate up to 10 km (6 mi) into the atmosphere beneath you.Upgrades: Extend both range and depth as your city advances.🔍 What can it detect? With upgrades, the Scanner Tower will reveal:Weather & Atmosphere: wind speed, storm activity, and hot zones.Resources: higher concentrations of rare gases like H₂O, SO₂, FeCl₃, H₂, and O⁺, which can be harvested more efficiently.Anomalies: mysterious signals and unknown phenomena waiting to be explored.👷 OperationThe Scanner Tower isn’t fully automated—i…
- 🌌 New Tech Tree - Alpha 2.0 Sneak Peek! 🛠️ - 17 July 2025
Here’s a first look at the brand-new Tech Tree window coming in the 2.0 update! I’ve completely redesigned how you’ll explore and unlock technologies in your flying city. The new interface is cleaner, more intuitive, and built to support the advanced systems will be available in the update.📸 Check out the screenshot below and let me know what you think! 🧪 In version 2.0, Science Pads make their debut — new interior structures where your colonists will produce Science Packs. There will be six types of science packs:Basic, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Software, and Advanced,Each requiring specific colonist types like Engineers, Biologists, Medics, and Scientists to produce.More previews coming soon — stay tuned, pioneers of the clouds! ☁️🏙️

You will be able to turn of the fog between the camera and the city - completely! Look out for the upcoming Alpha 2.0 version!
- 🤖 First Robot Preview: The Carrier Bot Has Landed! 🚚 - 8 June 2025
Hey everyone! While Alpha 1.7 hasn’t seen a new patch in the last couple of weeks (Patch 6 was the most recent), that’s because I’ve been hard at work on something much bigger: Alpha 2.0 — and it’s shaping up to be a major leap for Venusville!Today, I want to give you an early peek at one of the biggest additions in the upcoming update: the Carrier Robot. This is the very first robotic unit entering the game, and it’s built for one thing — moving resources fast and efficiently.Unlike colonists, Carrier Bots are purpose-built for hauling resource boxes across the city. They're twice as fast, need fewer upkeep requirements, and can operate in harsher environments where humans might struggle. You’ll be able to manufacture them in-game, and they’ll auto-charge at Robo Charger pads. For maintenance, they’ll either seek out engineers or head to future repair pads (a new structure currently in…
- 🔌 New Interior Alert: The Robo Charger 🤖⚡ - 31 May 2025
Hey everyone! Here’s a little preview of a new interior building coming to Venusville: the Robo Charger. This compact structure is your go-to solution for keeping your robotic workforce powered up and ready to roll. Designed to fit inside city domes, the Robo Charger comes with its own internal power storage — once it’s filled, it can recharge low-powered robots without drawing directly from your main grid. As the built in battery only charged with excess power only. Charging robots will not overload your grid! Functionally, it’ll make robot logistics a lot smoother, especially once the new robot units are introduced in the demo. Whether they're delivering supplies or expanding infrastructure, they’ll now have a spot to top up and keep moving. The model’s just been textured and is looking great — Let me know if you’ve got ideas for how charging hubs like this could evolve in future upgr…
- 🚧 New Building Incoming: The Gas Processor 🏭 - 19 May 2025
Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a sneak peek of a new building coming soon to Venusville: the Gas Processor. This industrial beast is designed to give you some serious control over your atmospheric chemistry — whether it’s combining nitrogen and hydrogen into useful nitrates for fertiliser production , extracting oxygen from CO₂, or even manufacturing more advanced fuels like Methane or Hydrazine for late-game jet and rocket fuels. Visually, it’s a dome-shaped structure with lots of vents, and two massive pipes stretching up to twin side tanks laid out in a V. I’ll share some images below — it’s still work-in-progress, but I’d love to hear what you think about the design and possible gameplay uses. It’s not in the current build just yet, but it’ll be part of the next patch. As always, thanks for supporting this flying city project! 🚀🌫️
