- Update 2.4.0 - 22 July 2026
Cześć!Seconds Till Destruction is now translated into Polish, courtesy of Booyak and Tygrysiowski! Now your Polish friends can experience the joys of destruction. In seconds. This joke doesn't really work.Booyak also pointed out some bugs that went unnoticed for an embarrassingly long time, so I also took the opportunity to fix those for this patch. Oops.Anyways, thanks again to Booyak and Tygrysiowski for translating the game and giving me the motivation to get another patch out!Size: 3.1 MBTweaks & AdditionsAdded a Polish translation, courtesy of Booyak and Tygrysiowski.Updated the localization files.FixesFixed some strings on the Leaderboard not being translated in languages other than English.Fixed the text for the Leaderboard button being cut off when playing in Spanish.Mogu mogu,Zdann
- One Year of Seconds Till Destruction - 14 July 2026
I had to try really hard to find a party hat that wasn't AI generated. The horrors. Party hat icons created by Freepik - FlaticonTime sure goes by fast, huh? As of today (aka when this announcement goes up), Seconds Till Destruction is officially one year old! That's a whopping 31,556,952 seconds till destruction. To celebrate, the game is on sale again for 31% off, in case you missed the big Summer Sale that just happened. So tell all of your Seconds Till Destruction-less friends to pick up a copy, or buy it for them!To be honest, I would've loved to have a big update planned for this day, but it crept up way sooner than I thought. Plus, I've still been trying to get back into the swing of game development after taking a very long break. By the way, I recently participated in Noise Jam 3 by making a game called The Gods Have Forsaken Me. It's short, it's free, and you should check it ou…
- Update 2.3.1 - 19 June 2026
Been a while, hasn't it?I would love to say I was cooking up some huge update, but alas, I have not. (I was actually working on something for a game jam instead).Instead, you get this very tiny patch fixing something Bernadetta (the developer of the hit game Murazu 2) reported. Enjoy!Size: 34.7 MBTweaksUpdated the Godot engine version. I hope this doesn't break anything.FixesFixed drop down menus (such as the Language selector) being transparent, which made them hard to read.Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo-wa,Zdann
- Update 2.3.0 - Classic Leaderboard - 20 January 2026
Hello, it's been a while! After a very lengthy trip through hell (AKA burnout caused by poor API documentation and other things), the Classic leaderboard is finally here! Now this screen is slightly less empty!Unlike the Classic (No Mutators) leaderboard, the Classic leaderboard lets you set a high score using any mutators you want (except for Training Mode). You can click the handy button next to the "Mutators" label to see what wacky combinations people have cooked up:And by "cooked up", I mean randomly selecting a few to check if this feature even worked.Just like the other leaderboards, if you think you can do a better job than whoever you're looking at, you can Challenge them to copy their run settings, Mutators included. For a refresher on how Challenges work, check out this announcement I don't even remember writing!I've already seen people rack up absurd high scores offline with ce…
- Update 2.2.0 - Scoring Tweaks - 9 October 2025
Hello! This update addresses a few oversights related to scores that were pointed out to me by Jakapoa over on the forums (thank you for the reports!). I meant to push it out a week ago, but I couldn't find the time to test and actually upload it until now.The biggest thing I fixed was the Pacifist score bonus awarding less points than the Deadeye score bonus. If you're crazy (or lucky) enough to clear a floor without firing a shot, the score bonus will now scale depending on the number of enemies.I also added gamemode-specific high score stats, since the game previously only kept track of a global high score stat. You might've noticed there's only two gamemodes so far, but maybe there will be more in the future...?I must be really bad at Mutator Roulette. The rest of the stuff isn't as important, but feel free to read the patch notes below if you want to know more.Size: 3.6 MBTweaksThe P…
- Autumn Sale - 29 September 2025
Thanks for the template Valve, very cool. It's that time of year again, but way earlier than usual! The Autumn Sale is live until October 6th, and you can snag a copy of Seconds Till Destruction for 20% off!Or if you already own it, why not buy a copy or two (or three, or seven) for your friends?
- Update 2.1.0 - Incendiary Tweaks - 25 September 2025
Hello!Turns out the engine update broke the fire pools left by Molotovs. Enemies could run right into them and push them away without burning to a crisp, which looked very silly. While I intended this patch to be a simple bug fix, I ended up having to tweak the mechanics for fire pools to address it. Hence why this is Update 2.1.0 instead of Update 2.0.2.And since I was already playing with fire, I slightly buffed the Incendiary SMG because I felt like it. It's pretty hard to debug issues with fire pool collision since it's so closely tied to the engine, so please let me know if you still see them acting strangely.Size: 3.7 MBBalancing & TweaksFire PoolsHopefully fixed fire pools colliding with enemies instead of burning them as expected.Fixed fire pools occasionally bouncing off walls or moving around on their own by disabling wall collision.Fixed fire pools still burning enemies for a…
- Update 2.0.1 - 23 September 2025
Hello! This is just a small hotfix to fix some text on the Game Over screen.Size: 2.1 MBFixesFixed the Enemies Killed stat on the Game Over screen showing decimal places. No, you can't kill half an enemy. Thanks!Zdann
- Update 2.0.0 - Engine Upgrade - 23 September 2025
Hello!First off, I'd just like to say that it's cool seeing people compete on the leaderboards! I saw high scores on there that I couldn't even imagine setting myself, which means I am officially worse at my own game than the community. Bravo, everyone. With that out of the way, let's talk about our latest update: 2.0.0. (If I was doing version numbering right before, this would probably be update 4.0.0 or 5.0.0. But let's ignore that.)This is a long overdue engine upgrade, going from Godot 4.3 to Godot 4.5. I had initially skipped Godot 4.4 because it broke windowed support for the game, but thankfully 4.5 addressed those issues. While the upgrade to 4.5 might not be super apparent on the surface, you should notice faster loading times and less shader stutter. That means less time waiting and more time playing. Or maybe you could say, more seconds till destruction.Accompanying this is an…
- Update 1.4.1 - Leaderboard Challenge Fixes - 18 September 2025
Hello! As usual, pushing an update caused bugs to materialize out of nowhere, but they should be fixed now. Shoutouts to Jakapoa for the report!I also added some text clarifying what the challenge button does on the leaderboard, since you probably wouldn't know if you didn't read the announcements.Size: 4.2 MBTweaks & AdditionsUpdated the localization files. Added a note to the leaderboard challenge prompt clarifying that it will start a run using the opponent's seed.FixesFixed leaderboard challenges granting you the wrong weapons depending on your current player level.Fixed Mutator Roulette leaderboard challenges starting a run with the wrong settings if you restarted.Fixed Mutator Roulette not displaying mutator descriptions after restarting a run. Thanks for playing!Zdann
- Update 1.4.0 - Leaderboards - 16 September 2025
Hello! After way too many delays and technical issues, the long awaited Leaderboard update is finally here!Who's #1? It's not actually me.See how you stack up against other players on the global leaderboards! At launch, there are two leaderboards available to show off your skills: Classic (No Mutators) and Mutator Roulette. Mutator-enabled leaderboards will be coming at a later date, whenever I'm able to work out the technical issues with them. You can also challenge other players, which will copy their run settings and give you a chance to beat their high score! If you want to read more about how challenges work, check out this post:For Supporter Pack owners, you'll be able to flex your Supporter status on the leaderboards with a gold name! It won't make you any better at the game though.Always believe in your soooooul. If you want this and some other optional goodies, you can grab the Su…
- Progress Report - Leaderboard Challenges - 10 September 2025
Hello! After way too many delays (and some unfortunate news I'll be mentioning later in this post), the Leaderboard update is almost upon us. I'm still doing some more polishing and testing, but in the meantime, here's a preview of the Leaderboard Challenge feature!Bet you can't beat my score. The way it works is simple: find someone with a high score, then tell 'em you can do better than that by hitting the "Challenge" button in the bottom right corner:It's not too late to turn back.Once you've hit OK, you'll start a run with their exact same settings, including their seed and unlocked weapons. You'll also see the score you have to beat in the corner of your screen, in case you forget:Having second thoughts? If you don't beat their score, you can either try again, or live with your failure and walk away in shame:Told you.But should you succeed, you'll feel pride and the sense of accomplis…
- Progress Report - Leaderboards (Again) - 25 August 2025
Hello! Not too much to share this time, but I just wanted to let everyone know I'm still working on things!I didn't give a concrete release date for the Leaderboards update (besides saying eventually™), but admittedly it's progressing a bit slower than I wanted. This was mostly because I was terribly sick for 2 weeks and couldn't get anything done, but also because I was still trying to figure out Steam's Leaderboard API.I have a pretty good idea of how things work now, so I have the functionality for uploading/downloading run info implemented. But I'm currently waiting for the next GodotSteam update coming out sometime this week; it fixes an issue preventing me from storing some extra info on the leaderboards.Since I can't exactly show the functionality, I'll just show off some other things instead.First off, another slightly adjusted mock-up of the Leaderboard UI, with some buttons re…
- Progress Report - Leaderboards - 2 August 2025
Hello! In lieu of an update (and because I'm sick at the moment), I decided to give a sneak peek at something I'm working on.I've gotten a couple of requests to add Leaderboards so you can gloat about your high scores to the entire world, and I'm happy to say they will be coming eventually™.This is just a mock-up of the UI.Here's how I want the Leaderboards to work:There will be three different Leaderboards: Classic, Classic (No Mutators), and Mutator Roulette. The Leaderboards are sorted by High Score, but you can also view other info like the run seed or which Mutators a player had enabled. You can "Challenge" a player to beat their high score, which will start a run using their exact settings (such as unlocked weapons, Mutators, and seed). This is still very early in development, so I can't say when this will be releasing. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, feel free to share them.…
- Update 1.3 - New room layout, optimization, and fixes! - 25 July 2025
Hello!Turns out fixing issues with the window size not being saved led to even more issues, like the window being positioned off screen. But this patch should fix the issues caused by the fix to the previous issues. Such are the joys of game development.I've also done a few tweaks to hopefully improve performance for people on lower end hardware. You might think a 2D pixel art game wouldn't need any optimization. I thought so too, until I got a report from someone running the game under the minimum requirements getting 8 FPS. The horror! While there wasn't too much I could do, I did do the following:Did an optimization pass on the HUD so it isn't using layers upon layers of CanvasLayers (that's a lot of layers). The individual elements like the weapon and score should all be rendered on the same layer now.Reduced shader compilation stutter by loading some assets when the game is initiall…
- Update 1.21 - 20 July 2025
Hello!Small update this time. The game should be fully translated in all languages once more, and I also fixed an issue with the window size if you're not playing in fullscreen.Size: 4.1 MBAdditionsUpdated the localization files.FixesFixed the window size not being saved between sessions. Thanks for playing!Zdann
- Update 1.2 - French Localization, Mutator Roulette HUD tweaks, and more! - 18 July 2025
Bonjour! Another update for you this week, addressing some more feedback I've gotten and adding a few things. Here are the main highlights.First off, Seconds Till Destruction is now translated into French, courtesy of Penelope "J.Mad" Wintringer! Now more people will be able to experience the joys of blowing up in 6 seconds.(Note: One of the new features hasn't been fully translated yet, since I added it on short notice and didn't want to delay the patch for it. It should be translated soon!)It's Seconds Till Destruction! But in French!Next up, I've done some tweaks to the Mutator Roulette HUD elements. The description that pops up in-between rooms now appears slightly faster and stays on screen slightly longer, which will hopefully give you a bit more time to read the description.Of course, I know reading a wall of text in a fast-paced game isn't ideal, so I also added a HUD element sh…
- Update 1.1 - 15 July 2025
Hello!Thank you so much to everyone who has played the game so far! It's really cool seeing people outside of my usual friend group enjoy it. I also want to give an extra special thanks to those of you who have purchased the Supporter Pack, it means a lot to us!I've gotten some pretty valuable feedback (and a lot of bug reports) yesterday, so hopefully this patch will address all of it.If you've got any feedback of your own, feel free to leave a review or let us know on the forums!Size: 41.4 MBBalancingDashingIncreased invulnerability duration to 0.3s (from 0.2s).Increased size of the blue outline while dashing.Prior to this patch, the invulnerability duration was less than the duration of the dash. I wanted to prevent people from abusing the invulnerability, but this only made dashing to avoid damage feel bad. Now you'll be protected for the entire dash.Additionally, I also increased t…
