- New QoL feature and HUGE performance upgrade - 16 September 2026
Hello! This release adds a new quality of feature that lets you hover over belts with your mouse to see the path cubes will follow. It's super helpful to help debug your layouts. Furthermore, a large rewrite happened to the rendering. You should see significant FPS increases and less stuttering in the lategame. My PC went from ~30 to about ~120 in my game winning save. Last but not least, some bugs have been fixed. These include an issue where packed cubes would sometimes lose a cube, and a few power grid edge cases that have been resolved.

- Pre-launch update - 6 April 2026
This is the full build of the 1.0 release, letting it out early to soak a bit before the actual launch date. Changes of note : - Added rocks and trees back to the game as decorations, you can remove them from the get go. - Fixed UI bugs related to progress bars when the game is paused.
- Spring Content Update! - 5 March 2026
This new update adds 3 new tiers of cubes to the main game mode. A new type of belt, the tagger, will be useful to create dynamic painting recipes, allowing you to simplify or complicate your designs. - Workshop Update is here! - 18 December 2025
Cubetory now has custom maps and a lightweight map editor! When starting a new game, you'll be able to open the Steam Workshop to browse and download custom maps and challenges for you to play through. I've gone ahead and created the first one, a painting challenge with 6 tiers of cubes to work through, using only the base painting mechanics of the game. You'll also notice a Map Editor entry in the main menu, allowing you to create your own maps and challenges, and upload those to the workshop.Other things of note in this update include : Tweaks to the music to make it sound better.Fixed a game crash related to pinned recipes.Fixed an issue with asymmetrical cube patterns not being evaluated correctly.Please let me know if you run into any bugs with the newest update!

Put out a small update that speeds up both saving and loading. Also fixed the issue with cubes disappearing from pipe outputs, and new tweaks on the whistling song to sound nicer on some speakers.

Greetings engineers! I'm happy to announce that the Playtest is now live. Here's a changelog from the previous playtest held in discord : Progression cleaned up, the game is now based on rate of production. Added challenges to the desert biome. Fixed a variety of placement bugs Added high-contrast mode and mouseover indicators for colors Contextual hints appear in important menus Added a difficulty selection. Cube wizard is really hard.
