This August 6, 2026 update introduces the complete Government Office System: every state appoints a full roster of officials (by AI or by hand) whose competence directly affects the treasury, provincial output, rebellions, and battlefield command. Official titles change dynamically with culture and government form, backed by a full title editor and map-wide default titles. Also included: streaming-loading optimization for legacy saves. This July 17, 2026 update brings the reworked War System V2: AI declarations now come with explicit casus belli and war goals, wars are pushed toward the negotiating table by war exhaustion and distress, peace settlements are enforced based on the outcome, and new mechanics arrive: capital fall crises, forced conversion wars, and cultural unification wars. How to switch between V1 and V2: Newly generated worlds use War System V2 by default. Existing saves keep their original war system: old saves still load as V1 and show a notice on load. You can now set current population and max population for a province. Max population can be locked so load validation and map recalculation will not overwrite your custom value unless it is invalid. Unit types now affect recruitment tendencies, combat modifiers, land movement speed, and army icons on the map. The default set currently includes Infantry, Archer, Shield, Cavalry, and Elite. Different units now perform differently in recruitment, attack, and defense depending on terrain. States can inherit military units from their culture or switch to a custom state-specific setup. The alliance interface is now complete: customize alliance names and colors, press the 2 key to switch to the alliance view, lock an alliance so it never disbands, and expel members when needed. A new capital jump shortcut lets you click the capital entry under Basic Information in the country panel to open the capital province UI while centering the camera on it. Balance updates: higher odds for family purges and slightly shorter, less frequent family rebellions. Bug fixes: fixed mutually exclusive traits spawning together on new characters and the Cruel trait not taking effect. Preview: family editing tools arrive in the next update.
