- Release 2.6 - 21 September 2026
Procedural Studio 2.6 features several UI improvements, including a new node and graph selection window. The new selection browser makes it more convenient and intuitive to browse nodes and graphs and to find the right tools for your workflow. When the new selection window is minimized, only the result viewer, the node editor, and the graph editor make up the new UI for a clean and simplified interface.Simplified UI when the node selector drawer is closed
- Release 2.5.0 - 26 June 2026
In the main viewer window, as well as in preview visualizations, the 3D display of meshes, terrains, and other object types has been improved.Physically based rendering and placement of multiple light sources improve the perception of your designs. The node Render Mesh now accepts material property textures in addition to the color texture input.
- Release 2.4: 3D Gen AI - 24 May 2026
Release 2.4Procedural Studio release 2.4 features small bugfixes, performance improvements, automatic ai-based background removal for images, as well as a new free plugin: Generative 3D AI.The 3D AI plugin is based on Hunyuan 3D mesh generation. The new nodes include mesh-from-image algorithms as well as automatic texture generation based on reference images.
- Release 2.3.0 - 17 March 2026
Release 2.3 features improved node visualization with node icons and better preview images in the editor. After calculation of a graph is finished, the preview visualizations of the nodes in the graph editor show the final result of the node. This means that even those nodes that do not support quick preview visualizations, such as generative AI nodes, now show output images in the editor after graph calculation. The update also includes some additional bugfixes and small UI improvements, such as a hint on how to export node data in the file menu.
- Release 2.2 - 7 March 2026
The Node selection editor now features thumbnail images as icons for the different nodes. This, in addition to the search-bar from update 2.1, makes the process of finding the right node more intuitive.
- Procedural Studio 2.1 Release - 18 January 2026
Procedural Studio 2 features local generative AI. Create images from text prompts without any additional costs or cloud services. The new features require a large download and are therefore available as a plugin as free DLC.Generative AI nodes blend perfectly into traditional Procedural Studio graphs, so you can combine them with classical image processing. Most of the new algorithms are based on three different Stable Diffusion models. Select the one that best meets your system memory capacity and timing constraints.Beside classical text-to-image conversion, the new nodes include image-to-image, ControlNets, LoRAs, and other generative ai techniques for more control and flexibility. In addition to Generative AI, this release includes some UI updates such as a searchbar for node selection.Notice: The new features of Procedural Studio 2 are not available in the free Demo version.
- Release 1.9.1 - 22 December 2025
This update 1.9.1 includes some bugfixes as well as many updates, changes and improvements under the hood. These changes make Procedural Studio ready for some features that will be released in the next few days. Why is the download size increased? The size of the Procedural Studio download has significantly increased because it includes some libraries that will be used in future updates and plug-ins.
- Version 1.9.0 Release - 4 May 2025
Version 1.9 features performance improvements for editor preview visualizations. Enabling these previews could cause significant delays in the graph editor, especially when working with large 3d meshes. This update brings a level-of-detail solution that significantly reduces these delays. As a second change, a loading screen for graphs is now shown during application startup. It is now possible to select the correct workspace(s) to load. In older versions, all workspaces were loaded. This could make it impossible to start procedural studio if a file was corrupted
- Small Usability Update - 16 March 2025
It is now possible to copy a selection of nodes via copy-and-paste buttons or keyboard shortcuts. All connections and open input parameters of the selection will be identical in the copy. This update also includes some polishing of UI elements as well as some smaller bugfixes.
- Release 1.7.0 - 24 February 2025
Version 1.7.0 of Procedural Studio features preview visualizations of node results directly in the graph editor. This includes direct previews of functions (1D, 2D and 3D) as well as images and meshes (2D and 3D). In some cases, this visualization can slow down the performance, so a toggle button was added to enable or disable the previews, depending on your system and the size of your data. In addition to the previews, a "fit view" button was added to the editor toolbar to fit the full graph into the editor frame. Furthermore, several bugs have been fixed.
- New Exporting Options (1.6.0 Release) - 7 January 2025
Saving images was limited to 8 bit pixel format which is not suitable for heightmaps. Version 1.6.0 brings you a set of new features for exporting grayscale images and heightmaps. The following are all changes in detail: * The new node "Save Heightmap" features 16 bit exports of grayscale images (heightmaps). It supports three different file formats. * The new node "Tiled Heightmap Export" also supports 16 bit data and works similar to the existing "Tiled Export" for 8 bit rgba images. * Polished all exporting ui widgets for better usability of filename selection. * Demo Version: Downscaling of images during export now preserves the aspect ratio. * Several small bugs related to saving and exporting have been fixed.
- Procedural Studio 1.5.0 Release - 30 December 2024
Version 1.5.0 contains small usability improvements and important bugfixes. These are the changes in detail: Ordering of inputs and outputs of nodes is no longer alphabetical. The inputs and outputs of nodes are now logically grouped. For example, width and height parameters, or x and y parameters, are now grouped logically instead of alphabetically The colorscale editor is now initialized with a color, and the current color gradient is shown in the parameter-editor button. Node-blocks for subgraphs are now shown with a thicker line width. Default input parameter ranges have been adjusted for several nodes. Node selection visualization has been changed. Several minor bugs (and one or two major bugs) have been fixed.
- Procedural Studio 1.4.0 - 19 November 2024
Version 1.4.0 introduces real-time result previews, where the output of a node is instantly visualized as parameters are adjusted. This enhancement aims to offer a more intuitive and user-friendly experience with the software. The real-time previews also integrate seamlessly with the slider adjustment feature introduced in version 1.3.0. The following is a list of all changes: * A real-time preview visualization is added to the node editor window in the top right corner of the UI. * The node selector and the graph selector window have been merged into one widget with two tabs (one tab for nodes, one for graphs) in order to make room for the new preview visualization. * The application now runs in a regular window, with an additional option to switch to full screen mode. * Improved performance of normal calculation. * Adjusted some default values for input parameter values and default pa…
- Usability Update - 3 October 2024
Procedural Studio version 1.3.0 was just released. This update features a rework of the node editor. Numerical inputs of nodes can now be set and adjusted using sliders with a variable range. The following is a summary of all changes in detail: 1) The layout of the node editor window has been changed: Parameter names are now listed on the left; values are displayed on the right side of the widget. Separator lines have been included between different parameter controls. The border has been removed from the editor area. 2) Numerical inputs can now be set via sliders. 3) The range of the sliders can be manually adjusted using two additional input fields on the left and right side of the slider. 4) Bugfixes in Random Real, Random Uniform, and Random Gaussian number generators that could cause crashes. 5) Curvature Map and Occlusion map nodes: Strength parameter has no influence and has been…
- New Update Available - 24 September 2024
The following 8 changes have been implemented: 1) The connection editor now works with a catch range, making it easier to hit input ports with the cursor. The catch range area is highlighted in green or red, depending on whether the connection is possible. 2) The new image processing node Inverter inverts the colors of an input image. 3) The new image processing nodes Crop (Pixels) and Crop (Relative) provide more convenient ways to crop an input image. 4) The new image processing node Select Color selects the areas of an input image that have a specific color. 5) Hitting the spacebar now executes the graph, making it easier to adjust values without having to move the mouse cursor to the execute-button. 6) Bugfix: Default values for color-value open inputs are now correctly initialized in the color-editor window. 7) Bugfix: Single-channel images are now always visualized in black-and-wh…
- Small Usability Update - 17 September 2024
Three minor changes have been implemented with version 1.1.0: The node description pop-up window now shows the color codes for parameter types, making it easier to identify nodes with the right connections. Single-Channel images are now displayed in black-and-white instead of in a red color. The node category "Basic" has been renamed to "Misc" and the tab is moved to the bottom of the widget
