  • Happy International Beaver Day! 🦫 - 7 April 2025

Happy International Beaver day to Buckey and his family! (Image source) Buckey and his children (Chip, Maple and Woody) are really important for the environment. Beavers are like ecosystem engineers. They create wetland habitants and generally boost biodiversity!

  • Wiarton Willie Predicts an Early Spring! (free download) - 2 February 2025

On February 2nd, 2025, the infamous groundhog, Wiarton Willie, did not see his shadow, meaning there will be an early spring! Did you know that Wiarton Willie, in the game "A Beaver's Tale", is based on a real ground hog? To celebrate the good news, the game will be free to download for a week! (Ending Feb. 7th) Simply download the "demo" on the Steam page. It's released as the full game. Enjoy! Wiarton Willie is the name of a Canadian groundhog who lives in the community of Wiarton in Bruce County, Ontario. Every February 2, on Groundhog Day, Willie takes part in the local Wiarton Willie Festival. His role is to predict whether there will be an early spring. • Buckey got an engine upgrade!! Version 1.1 - 7 December 2024

Hi everyone! I have worked hard to get some new updates and important bug fixes for A Beaver's Tale. Some folks who speed run the game, and some others who play tested brought these issues to my attention, so thank you kindly! A Beaver's Tale is better because of you :) Here is the list of improvements in version 1.1: The game has been upgraded to the newest, stable Godot engine version (4.3). FXAA anti-aliasing is now enabled for the game, removing some of the jagged edges. The various bugs involving saving have been fixed. This includes the "Delete Save Data" button which allows you to make a new game anywhere inside A Beaver's Tale (nice for speed runners!) There's a new loading screen now between the various game modes - this makes the transition much smoother. Buckey's movement speed has been fixed. He used to move slowly vertically, but really fast horizontally. Fishing has been f…

  • You can now catch fish! (Responsibly) - 24 November 2024

I've got another tiny update for you that packs in a few new changes. First of all, you can now go "fishing"! Well, not really. Buckey is a herbivore, so he's more into catch and release. There's also a shiny new achievement for fishing: Some other small things in version 1.0.2: - Small bug fix with switching windows while game is running - Bug fix when multiple prompts are triggered. Before, the prompt in the top right corner would just overwrite the previous one, and you could miss information. Now they are "queued" so if you trigger another one, it will just play after the current one is done -Michael

  • First Quality of Life Patch! Version 1.0.1 - 22 November 2024

Hi everyone! I have released the first update for A Beaver's Tale! It uses "semantic versioning", meaning this patch will not break any existing game installs that are out there. A few nice quality of life updates: You can now dynamically change what monitor the game is playing on There are a number of new prompts that are added to help gameplay. Not all of it was clear Thanks for playing and I hope this patch makes the play experience a little better! -Michael

Hi beaver fans! Just letting you all know that A Beaver's Tale will be on a 20% discount for a couple of weeks after launch! Try to get all of the achievements! The "neighbour" achievements are really tricky! Only a couple of players have gotten those so far. Try out the Build Mode! At the end of the story, you can access build mode. Share what you make in the community!
