Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. Outland doesn’t have a unique bone in its red and blue body. You can reach new areas in the world after unlocking abilities, like Metroid; you navigate the environment with the agility of the Prince Of Persia; and you take out baddies by changing the colour of your character, like Ikaruga. Its that last one that makes Outland a great 2D action-platformer, rather than just a good one, though. (more…)

"Lackluster" sales of the brilliant Nex Machina were the icing on the cake for Finnish developer Housemarque - from here on out it will no longer make arcade games. "For more than 20 years we've been carrying the torch for arcade," wrote CEO Ilari Kuittinen in an open letter to fans. "However, despite critical success and numerous awards, our games just haven't sold in significant numbers. "Now it's time to move on to new genres. We are glad to announce for the Holidays that Outland is now available for Mac. It comes with cross-platform co-op, so you can play with your friends on PC or Mac. And if you own the game you now own it on Mac also, thanks to SteamPlay. Version 1.11 - Full Mac port. - Fixed black screen on low graphics settings during the last boss fight (OpenGL rendering only).
