- Patch Notes 20.05.25 - 20 May 2025
Key Fixes & Improvements: Smoother UI Interactions: The Pause Menu (ESC) now correctly takes precedence. If your Journal or Solar System Map view is open, opening the Pause Menu will now seamlessly close these other views first. Similarly, the Journal ('J') will no longer open if the Pause Menu or the Solar System Map View ('TAB') is already active, preventing UI clashes. The Solar System Map View ('TAB') will now automatically close an open Journal before activating, ensuring a clear view. Fixed an issue where the Pause Menu could shrink to a tiny size when opened. This was related to game pausing (Time.timeScale) affecting UI animators; relevant animators have been updated to use unscaled time. The mouse cursor will now correctly hide when the Solar System Map View ('TAB') is active. It will also consistently become visible when UI panels like the "Update Info" screen are closed, ensu…
- Captain’s Log Update - 19 May 2025
I'm thrilled to announce the launch of the Captain's Log Update – a set of new tools designed to help you master the vastness of space and keep track of your favourite locations. What's New? Bookmark Your Universe (Press 'B' in a System): Stumbled upon a breathtaking solar system? A place that feels like home? Press 'B' while you're within a solar system to add its coordinates and name to your Captain's Log. Your Personal Captain's Journal (Press 'J'): The galaxy is vast, but your memory doesn't have to be! The new in-game Journal allows you to keep a running list of your most important system discoveries. Instantaneous Return Jumps: Open your Journal ('J'), select a previously bookmarked system from your scrollable list, and with a single click, you'll be instantly transported to the outskirts of that system, perfectly positioned and facing the star. Your movement will be set to zero u…
- Steam Cloud Saves Are Live! - 30 April 2025
Just a small but useful update today: Space Tourist now supports Steam Cloud Saves. Your progress — planets visited, systems explored, photos taken, flags planted — will now sync across devices automatically. So whether you're switching between machines, reinstalling, or just want a bit of peace of mind, your save data will come with you. That’s it! Thanks for playing and exploring the galaxy 💫 More to come! – Rhys
- Achievements Are Here! - 21 April 2025
I’ve just pushed an update that adds a whole bunch of Steam Achievements to Space Tourist! You’ll now be rewarded for all sorts of galactic milestones — whether you're hopping systems, landing on mysterious comets, snapping gorgeous planetary shots, or boldly planting flags where no one else has. 🏆 Here’s just a few things you can now unlock: "First Contact" – land on your very first planet "Galactic Photographer" – take 100 in-game photos "Universal Claim" – plant flags on 800 different worlds (yes, really) "Comet Rider" – if you find one, you’ll know 😉 If you’ve already made loads of progress, don’t worry: the game remembers where you've been — and achievements will unlock automatically the next time you load in or land somewhere new. As always, thank you so much for playing. Space Tourist is still growing and you’re part of the adventure. See you in the stars 🚀 – Rhys (aka the dev)
- Xbox Controller and Steam Deck support - 19 April 2025
✅ Xbox Controller & Steam Deck Support Added Full support for Xbox controllers is now live! Enjoy smooth navigation, exploration, and interaction with intuitive button layouts. We've also added full compatibility with the Steam Deck – including optimised controls and improved UI scaling for a seamless handheld experience. I've added official controller layouts on the steam community page Next up is likely to be some moons and achievements!
- Steamdeck resolution fix and controller mapping - 15 April 2025
Just a quick update to fix issues with resolution on the steamdeck. The game is now playable on the steamdeck and has xbox controller support. This isn’t a full “controller support” update yet. While controllers are now functional, the UI still displays keyboard/mouse bindings. Updating the interface to show the correct controller buttons is on the to-do list.
- The Comet Update - 14 April 2025
This has to be my favourite update so far - just looking up from a planet and seeing an icy comet fly blisteringly overhead is awe-inspiring! I've obviously played this game for many hours now and I found my self taking a tonne of photos! Comets are now flying around the galaxy, you may be fortunate to spot one when you are in a system! Yes you can land on them, but they can be incredibly fast- faster than your jetpack! TIP: You may want to stand in the comet's path and allow it to fly into you! Use the comets like super fast taxis - getting you from one end of a solar system to the other in record time! Enjoy! Other fixes: I've also optimised planetary trees so they load much faster and are more performant.
- Save System Added! - 11 April 2025
In what may seem like a boring update to most, it represents a major work for me - many hours of hardwork and tears to build a custom save system for this game. Why a custom save system? Well the game is build from the ground up and frankly no standard save system was working in the way I wanted it too! Anyway, go and enjoy a longer run, knowing that your stats have been saved! Other updates: Updates to the UI and Menu Optimisation of the Photo Gallery for improved performance Other bugs squashed and fixed/
- Planet Generation Patch - 9 April 2025
Patch 3 notes The planets topography has been reworked to create more varied landscapes that are more interesting to explore. Added an icon whilst on planets to show that pressing 'left Shift' allows you to sprint. A number of other small bugs fixed
- No more floating trees + choose your camera reel size - 8 April 2025
So after yesterday's minor patch fix with adding a music volume slider and fullscreen/window support, here is the first small update/patch: Main changes: No more floating trees or rocks! As strange as that was, all planetary objects are now firmly rooted! Choose your photo reel size before you start your next expedition. The camera reel size decides the length of your expedition run. Once all photos have been taken, the expedition ends. Less photos means a quicker run. Solar System Map Upgrades. You can now zoom in and rotate the solar system map to get a closer look at the planets of the system you are currently in. The music transitions have now added fade down at the end of each track to avoid abrupt changes. That's it! More to come! Soon I'll be implementing some sort of save system and moons and flying comets!
- Quick Patch 1.0 - 7 April 2025
Music Volume Slider added to Settings Fullscreeen/Window Toggle Button Added (F11) Fixed window resizing/fullscreen issue

The game is now ready for Steam Fest next month! I've been hard at work fixing bugs and adding new features! ✨ A brand-new trailer is out, along with updated artwork, images, and a refreshed Steam description. 🎮 Originally, I planned to limit access to star systems to a single visit, but I’ve decided to make the game fully open for a better experience. 🌍 Planet tech has been overhauled—expect more stunning, complementary colors across oceans, land, and atmospheres. 🛠 A robust tutorial is now in place. ✅ The game actually works now! 💎 A lot of time has gone into polishing. 🚀 The demo launches next month! Just a reminder—this is a solo dev project, so have mercy! It’s not AAA, but I hope you’ll enjoy the journey.

You'll encounter a variety of landscapes—from rugged mountains to serene valleys. 🌌 Atmospheric Planets There is a chance now that some systems will have atmospheric planets. Watch the local star set on the horizon, see clouds drift across alien skies. Swim through alien seas, discover underwater landscapes. 🔥 Campfires Under the Stars After a day of discovery, there's nothing like relaxing by a ca…
