- Release: Glyphscape v1.2 - 2 September 2026
I'm excited to announce that Glyphscape Version 1.2 is finally here! There are an absolute boatload of changes in this update, so I will get right into it.SummaryInterface OverhaulThis update completely overhauls the ASCIIDECK interface into a much more visually pleasing state. The previous versions wasted quite a lot of screen real estate to display bare plastic, and the split of information between the dual side panels resulted in eye fatigue over longer sessions. This is the change that is most immediately apparent. The main view is comfortably wider, and nearly every menu has been redesigned as a consequence.HighlightsWidescreen view of world (100% more!)All menus have been combined into pairsMerged side panels into one convenient panelSpellcrafting OverhaulI'm not sure what exactly constitutes an overhaul, but I have made many small changes to how strings of glyphs are parsed into…
- Update Preview - Major Version 1.2 - 20 July 2026
Update Preview - Major Version 1.2This is a quick check-in post to go over the new features that you can expect in the not-so-distant future. I have an update to finish so I will keep it brief. UI OverhaulThe most noticeable change is the doubling of the viewport size to a crisp 2:1 ratio, and the resulting re-arrangement of every other UI element to accommodate the change.Getting the game to render the extra tiles was not terribly difficult, but re-designing every menu for the new aspect ratio turned into a large undertaking. Some menus combined easily as left + right halves (thank you past me for making them look like alternating sides of a physical book), but others are still a bit broken from the change. In addition to these sweeping changes, I have made many small adjustments to visual cues, and added many sounds in which the current version is greatly lacking.I am nearly finished t…
- Patch Notes - Version 1.1.5 - 2 July 2026
This update addresses the most egregious issues facing steam deck users. Gamepad movement feels really good now, and you no longer need to set a custom resolution to see the whole screen! Change Log: Resolution now scales to Steam Deck screen size. Added diagonal movement for Gamepad users. Allowed diagonal movement between trees Fixed a vendor in the Western plains with no Inventory.
- Patch Notes - Version 1.1.4 - 24 June 2026
This is a very small patch. The main purpose is to address the first bullet point - which was granting too much HP/MP and could allow infinite healing in certain situations. Changes HP and MP are no longer restored during monster move phases Fixed Monster Move Speed preference not being applied on game load
- Patch Notes - Version 1.1.3 - 7 June 2026
This is a small addendum, just a few bug fixes and some improvements to various menus and sub-menus. Rather than sitting on a mountain of changes, I am going to try to get into the habit of posting smaller updates more regularly.Interface ChangesAdded a latch and subtle wood texture to the stash chestImproved contrast and line placement in Journal bookImproved contrast and added input hints in Journal quest previewImproved contrast of 'End Sneak' prompt when in sneak modeOverhauled ladder traversal sub-menu visualsImproved Look results alignmentImproved contrast and alignment of hit-to-player reports Bug FixesFixed a freeze that occurred when pressing Confirm without a quest selected in the JournalFixed an issue where mushroom enemies would not load the correct sprite from save data
- Glyphscape Version 1.1 - 29 May 2026
Version 1.1 improves all of the core game systems. This is by far the largest update to date, and brings Glyphscape substantially closer to a state that I am happy with. Details below!Combat ImprovementsClass TraitsClass traits have been reworked to better support their intended play styles. The new class traits are as follows:Champions regenerate HP at an elevated rateConjurers regenerate MP at an elevated rateWanderers dash AP cost is reduced by 1 (from 2)Cutpurses deal melee damage to all adjacent tilesAll classes have also been granted a small rate of HP regeneration over time, so that it does not become hopeless to continue after all healing items have been depleted. Champions receive this healing at an accelerated rate. The trait formerly granted to Champions has been given to Cutpurses instead. The Cutpurse monster-vision ability has been reworked as a stealth mode and granted to…

- Patch 1.0.15 - 18 December 2025
This patch mostly addresses a variety of interface issues, with a few mechanical tweaks and quest/dialogue fixes thrown in for fun.The Portal selection menu previously was limited to displaying only four locations at a time, and required keyboard inputs to scroll through. The new interface supports up to eight at a time, and can be accessed with either mouse or keyboard exclusively. The shop menu has been slightly modified as well to support mouse-only input. This meant batching items into pages in much the same way as the Items menu.Additional patch notes below.Patch NotesMechanical Changes- DEF Boost from Shields reduced to a flat 2- Moves-Per-Turn Maximum set at 8Interface Improvement- Overhauled appearance and functionality of Portal/FastTravel sub-menu- Added page buttons to shop inventories, so shops can be accessed mouse-only- Fixed misaligned mouse-hover of quests in the Journal-…
- Patch 1.0.14 - 10 December 2025
Version 1.0.14Items Menu ImprovementsThe lack of on-screen page buttons made the Items Menu inaccessible without keyboard inputs, and this update addresses that. I have added page buttons at the bottom of the items list, and now the menu can be accessed with only the mouse, if desired. The shop and fast travel menus have the same input limitations, and this will be addressed in 1.0.15. The menus are fully functional, but do not accept click inputs. There are a few bug fixes included in the patch as well (see below). Notably, the game will no longer freeze when traveling through that one cave in the swamps. Additionally, you may now no longer freeze water if it's too deep to swim in.ChangesITEMS interface ImprovementsAdded page buttons for keyboard-only usersImproved mouse interactions and feedbackImproved aesthetics of existing buttonsAdded Back/Select button hintsAdded current weight an…
- Patch 1.0.13 - 6 December 2025
Patch NotesThe Game Options menu never really got the visuals that it needed, and was sporting a fairly utilitarian aesthetic. While I was making changes I took the opportunity to hopefully address the movement speed that has been a common pain point among players. Rather than ambiguous sliders, Player, Enemy, and Text Speed are now limited to 5 options: "Very Slow to "Very Fast".Dvorak and AZERTY keyboard users can now change the layout in the Options menu. I hope to support custom remappings as well, but these three options should cover most use cases.New Options InterfaceChangesOverhauled Game Options interface.Replaced sliders with 5-position switches for speed settings.Added Dvorak and AZERTY keyboard layout options.Generally improved appearance.Improved button press hints visuals.Equipment, Journal, and Spellbook buttons will flash when updated.Added hover responsiveness to UDLR/A…

I will do my best to address any further issues that are reported. This is unfortunately not an exhaustive list of bugs, just the most critical ones. If you have reported a bug that is not shown here, rest assured that it will be addressed in a future patch.ChangelogChanges - InterfaceAdded "ESC" hint to upper right settings button.Added a cursor on the settings menu. Added a hint when there is nothing to buy/sell from a vendor.Bug Fixes - MajorFixed some underground areas that were not loading their environment data.Fixed a freeze that would occur whenever XP exceeded 9,999.Fixed missing introduction text on new character creation.Fixed a game breaking error when selling items in a shop.Bug Fixes - MinorFix…
