If you're looking for something to keep you occupied ahead of the Snake Eater remake, dive into Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid 5 Definitive Experience , a masterful take on the tactical espionage action genre. • Konami has reportedly greenlit a MGS3 remake - 1 October 2021

A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 is reportedly in the works, with Konami handing development to Virtuos Studios. That's according to a VGC report that also lists a number of other upcoming, unannounced Konami projects, such as remasters of other Metal Gear Solid titles, and a new Castlevania "reimagining" being worked on internally, all due to be announced next year. • Have You Played… Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? - 7 January 2021

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. I was so disappointed the first time I saw the credits roll in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes . I’d heard it was short before I booted it up, but I don’t think I knew how short. Where were my oddly-timed codec conversations about how Jack met Rose ? Why didn’t I have to climb a giant ladder while an acapella version of the theme faintly played in the background? Why didn’t a man that was clearly in disguise reveal his true identity by taking off his sunglasses ? Then I saw a load of side missions unlocked and I started over again. And then again. And again. And again. (more…)

  • Kong: Skull Island director shares concept art for MIA Metal Gear Solid movie - 19 May 2020

What would a Metal Gear Solid movie look like if worked on by the visual artists at ILM? As the years pass and the reality of a Metal Gear film feels less and less likely, we have at least got a glimpse at what could have been. Step up Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of Kong: Skull Island and self-professed Metal Gear Solid fan, who has been linked to the missing in action Metal Gear Solid movie for more than six years. Over the past week, Vogt-Roberts has been sharing work from visual effects studio ILM concepting ideas for his Metal Gear Solid movie plans. Oh, and he kicked the whole thing off with a new codec video featuring Mr. Snake himself, David Hayter. Read more

  • Games of the Decade: Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and the art of restraint - 28 November 2019

To mark the end of the 2010s, we're celebrating 30 games that defined the last 10 years. You can find all the articles as they're published in the Games of the Decade archive , and read about the thinking behind it in an editor's blog . Making triple-A games, it turns out, is expensive, and the past decade has often been about big publishers coming up with new ways to make the numbers add up. Some have been more palatable than others, and a few too many have been downright detestable, but one novel approach did something we've all been screaming for for years: it put the reins on Hideo Kojima, finally giving him limitations in which to exercise his beautiful nonsense. Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes was a curious release, essentially a paid-for demo for the full-fat Metal Gear Solid 5 - which, for those who could remember as far back as when you used to get a free Zone of the Enders g…

  • The sound of Death Stranding and how Hideo Kojima selects the music for his games - 11 November 2019

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has always been open about his interest in media outside games, claiming to be 70 per cent movies and regularly expressing his love for bands like Chvrches, Apocalyptica, and Silent Poets. However, when it comes to implementing music into his games, his tastes sometimes border on the esoteric. Death Stranding is no exception. Although its denouement is accompanied by a powerful performance from aforementioned Glaswegian synth-pop band Chvrches, its key narrative moments are complemented by tracks from Ryan Karazija's ambient Icelandic Low Roar project, which was written and recorded after the Californian singer moved to Reykjavik. "I try to be connected to the actors, film directors, authors, artists, and musicians I personally like," Kojima tells Eurogamer. "The way I select the music or artists is based on trust I establish with them. The natural…

  • Watch us play 21 games from the last 20 years - 6 September 2019

OK, so I know Eurogamer's actual birthday was two days ago , but as is our style, the Eurogamer video team is once again Late to the (birthday) Party. Over the past three years, we've been introducing each other to our favourite (and/or least favourite) games from yesteryear as part of our Late to the Party series. During that time we've shared our love (and/or hatred) for over one hundred and fifty different games and thanks to this, we've been able to make a compilation episode of LTTP that features one game from every year that Eurogamer has been alive. In this video, Aoife, Zoe and I are joined by some friendly video team faces from the past (who?!) as we play our way through the 20 years worth of games, including 1999's Dino Crisis, 2006's Gears of War and 2017's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Basically, if you want a healthy dose of nostalgia (or just want to feel rather old) this…

  • Metal Gear Solid 5 finally lets you play as sniper Quiet - 24 July 2018

Messy spinoff Metal Gear Survive might not have landed with much grace, but Konami know better than to kill their golden goose; Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain . Even if its exiled director is busy hanging out with Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, they’ve still got a few people working on MGS5, and their latest annual update finally gives players the chance to play as underdressed and overpowered mutant sniper lady Quiet. Right now she’s restricted to the semi-online FOB invasion missions, although given MGS5’s mod scene, that may change soon. (more…)

  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience Released - 13 October 2016

If you’re one of those “I’ll wait for the Game of the Year Edition” types, good news: a new stealth game called Metal Gear Solid V has just become available to you, and I think you really might like it. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience has arrived on PC, packing both the small, directed MGS V: Ground Zeroes and the sprawling open-world MGS V: The Phantom Pain along with the multiplayer Metal Gear Online and all their DLC. That’s a respectable slab of sneaking for 25! For all its flaws, I still really like MGS V – and you might too, you ol’ GotYhead you. …

  • MGSV: The Phantom Pain Is Making It Too Easy For Me - 2 October 2015

I expected MGSV: The Phantom Pain to be punishing – the kind of stealth game that stuck you with insurmountable challenges the second you stepped out of the shadows or were spotted. These expectations were born of what I assumed previous Metal Gear Solid games were, based on struggling through the first on PSone as a teenager, and based on the slavish praise they received from what I assumed were more skillful players than me. I was initially relieved, then, when The Phantom Pain turned out to be accommodating. But after twenty hours of play, I’m much more surprised to find myself feeling so far towards the other direction. The Phantom Pain is too easy. …

  • Watch Metal Gear Solid V s Lost Ending - 30 September 2015

While most of us continue to be starry-eyed about MGSV: The Phantom Pain , there has been no shortage of Internet Grumbles about its ending, and concerns that it wasn’t finished-finished (possibly related to Kojima and Konami’s latest round of spats?). I’m not going to get into OPINIONS on that stuff myself, primarily because I’m not personally invested in MGS lore, but yeah, there really was an original, longer ending sequence with MORE RIDICULOUS DRAMA and arguably a greater sense of closure, both for Big Boss/Venom Snake himself and in terms of closing the loop between the two main Metal Gear Solid timelines. This other finale, set on a jungly island, was partially completed before whatever happened happened, and is included on the MGSV bonus disc from the PS4 collector’s edition. You can watch the whole, 18 minute sequence below. Spoilers , inevitably.…

  • Six Things MGSV: The Phantom Pain Could Do Better - 14 September 2015

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain may be the best stealth-action game ever made , but it’s not flawless. The game’s massive scope, and the surprising amount of detail in each interaction within that massive playpen, is impressive – however, that scope is precisely why certain aspects feel like they have something missing. Consider the following, then, as an exploration of The Phantom Pain’s own phantom pains – without plot spoilers. …

  • One Man s Epic Quest To Retrieve Take On Me In MGSV - 9 September 2015

I haven’t got anything like as many cassette tapes as I’d like in The Phantom Pain . A combination of a determination to be non-lethal, to knock out or capture everyone and my inherent ineptitude means most base raids go South pretty quickly, and I end up in a desperate sprint to a checkpoint in order that I don’t lose all my progress. No time to clear out all the buildings: just run, run until that magical yellow save circle appears in the top right of my screen, and I know my prisoners are safe and my diamonds are in hand. I’ve left tapes behind that way, and it breaks my heart. Rebel Yell and Love Will Tear Us Apart are definite casualties, the latter of which I can barely cope with the loss of. If it turns out I’ve abandoned Bowie’s Cat People somewhere, I’ll almost certainly lose my mind. When I heard the distant strains of Take On Me while…

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is our Game of the Month for September , but why has this traditionally non-PC series infiltrated our chests and Fulton’d our hearts? Price History Overview

USD uses SteamPulse's own locally recorded daily store snapshots, so this overview reflects the exact regional price history that SteamPulse has captured for this currency.

Coverage And Tracking Window

  • Snapshots: 1
  • Coverage: Sep 22, 2026 to Sep 22, 2026
  • Lowest observed: $17.99
  • Highest observed: $17.99

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES's USD price history spans from Sep 22, 2026 to Sep 22, 2026, with 1 recorded snapshot across 1 calendar day. Each row records the available final price, listed base price, and discount metadata for that observation. Within this coverage the lowest recorded price is $17.99, the highest is $17.99, and the first visible tracked price is $17.99. These comparisons apply only to the snapshots SteamPulse holds; missing observations can contain changes that are not represented here.

For USD, SteamPulse uses locally captured regional storefront snapshots and does not reconstruct older prices with exchange-rate conversion. The chart and table show the values recorded for this exact currency from the stated coverage start. Additional snapshots extend that record, but they do not fill unobserved days or prove what the storefront displayed between observations.

Discount Windows And Sale Timing

  • Discount windows: 1
  • Discounted days: 1 day
  • Deepest markdown: -40%
  • Latest sale window: Sep 22, 2026 to Sep 22, 2026

SteamPulse has grouped rows carrying discount metadata into 1 recorded discount window, covering 1 calendar day and 1 discounted snapshot. The deepest recorded markdown is -40%, with a lowest recorded final price of $17.99 during rows named Steam sale. The latest recorded window starts Sep 22, 2026 and ends Sep 22, 2026, spanning 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking. Window boundaries follow the available snapshots, so gaps in coverage can make an actual sale shorter or longer than the recorded span.

Recorded sale names include Steam sale. The table reports the observed markdown, final price, snapshot dates, and any sale name supplied with the row. It can show whether similar discounts recur in the retained record, but it does not infer publisher intent, demand, or the reason a price changed.

Observed Price Changes And Stable Runs

  • Observed price drops: 0
  • Observed price rises: 0
  • Longest stable run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking
  • Current run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking

Outside rows carrying discount metadata, the tracked price has not recorded a separate price rise or drop yet. That means the observed undiscounted level has stayed stable across the snapshots SteamPulse currently holds. This is a statement about the recorded coverage only; it does not prove that an older or missing price change never happened.

The longest unchanged price stretch in the current record lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at $17.99, from Sep 22, 2026 through Sep 22, 2026. The latest run records $17.99 for 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking with a listed discount from $29.99. Run lengths describe consecutive stored observations only and do not establish that a price is permanent.

Latest Snapshot And Sales Context

  • Current price: $17.99
  • Current list price: $29.99
  • Distinct observed prices: 1
  • Source mode: SteamPulse local tracking

The latest tracked snapshot records METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES at $17.99 in USD, with a listed base price of $29.99 and a -40% markdown. Across the available history SteamPulse has recorded 1 distinct final price in this currency. This supports comparisons with the lowest, highest, and most common values present in the retained record, subject to the stated coverage limits.

The live sales view and Steam sales record provide calendar context for these dates. A date overlap can be compared with a named Steam event, but it does not prove why a publisher changed a price. As new daily rows arrive, this overview recalculates its observed prices, discount windows, and run lengths automatically.
