We are pleased to announce that we will be taking part in the Warhammer Skulls festival. The Warhammer Skulls festival is a yearly event dedicated to all games set in the Warhammer universe. There have been 40,000 Warhammer 40,000 video games, but none I'm aware of revolve around the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Adeptus Mechanicus are a group of humans who really, really love steel, technology and machines. They live on Mars building the Imperium's tech, while maintaining an army of their own. Basically, if Digital Foundry was a Warhammer 40,000 race, it would be The Adeptus Mechanicus. So we come to Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, a new game published by Kasedo Games (Rise of Industry) and developed by little-known French studio Bulwark (Crowntakers). There's not much to go on right now, but we do know Mechanicus is a turn-based tactical game set for release on PC, Mac and Linux later this year. I'm hoping for an XCOM-style game, basically. There's a new Warhammer 40,000 game in the works - yes, another one! - but this one looks interesting. Gladius - Relics of War looks a lot like a Warhammer 40,000-flavoured Civilization game. It's developed by Proxy Studios, maker of 4X turn-based game Pandora: First Contact, and published by Slitherine, the company behind Warhammer 40,000 games Armageddon and Sanctus Reach. The video, below, reveals the four races: Space Marines, Astra Militarum (aka Imperial Guard), Orks and Necrons. I'm particularly excited about the inclusion of the Necrons. A few months ago Slitherine was contacted by a computer engineer from Turkey (birthplace of the Emperor, beloved by all) called Gunes Kuday. He is a fan of Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon and he proposed to work on a free update for it. There were some aspects of the game he wanted to improve, so we gave him the source code and he has worked since then to expand the game. We are happy to announce that the first community update for Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is now ready! It is a completely free and optional update, one that you can now download easily from this link or from here. It is stand-alone, you just need to have the base version of Armageddon installed on your computer (either the Slitherine or Steam version).
