• Sitting Scene - 22 May 2025

  In Cam Op Simulator v1.18 we've added a new scenario that features an actor walking around a room and sitting and standing at a table. The objective is to track the actor smoothly in a medium shot while anticipating the correct head room. This was a commonly requested exercise by operators. Cheers, Matt

• VFX Super Hero - 3 February 2025

  This build of Cam Op Simulator has been updated to Unreal Engine 5.5.2. If everything has gone well there should be no noticeable difference between the last version. However, version 1.15 will be available as a beta branch in case this engine update causes issues. The new map "VFX Super Hero" uses two new "Metahumans/virtual actors" that are more optimized than the previous virtual actors. Hopefully this will allow for scenes with more actors while keeping the performance and frame rate high. Cheers, Matt

• Multi Cam Loop - 4 January 2025

  Cam Op Simulator 1.15 adds a new "Multi Cam Loop" map. There are multiple cameras that can be operated. You hit to switch between cameras. Switching between "Views" is now in all Maps. The cameras and talent/action will loop forever. Cheers, Matt

• NODO Inertia Wheels Update - 5 December 2024

  In this build we have updated the way you connect the NODO Film Inertia Wheels. Please watch the YouTube video for instructions. There is also a new redesigned Trinity Rig in a new map and a redesigned Heavy Lift rig in a new map. Cheers, Matt

• Zoom Lens and Trinity Mode - 11 October 2024

  In this build we've introduced "Zoom Lenses" to the majority of the cameras. To change focal length you can press or on the keyboard. The "camera monitor" has been redesigned to improve readability and to display the new "FCL" focal length field. There is a new Trinity inspired mode where you can control the roll and tilt of the camera. The FPV drone now has a control to tilt the FPV camera up and down. Cheers, Matt

• Geared Head, Laser Pointer, Pursuit Vehicle, FPV Pilot - 20 September 2024

  Settings Manu In this build we have introduced a new "Settings Menu" that is accessible when you press Escape/Pause in game. In this menu you can adjust the "speed" and direction for mouse, gamepad, and Nodo wheels. Laser Pointer Mode The first Laser Pointer map has you operating a virtual geared head with a laser that can "pop" targets. The targets are on a sideways figure 8 track that you should stay on. Pop all of the targets and you will get an accuracy rating at the end. Geared Head and Dolly The geared head and dolly "Cinematic Shot" map has a simple dolly move where two actors interact with each other. Practice tracking each actor and creating new shot variations. Pursuit Vehicle A new WIP Pursuit Vehicle has been added in a new "Cinematic Shot" map. The vehicles and UArm are completed controlled by the computer allowing you to focus on the camera operating.
