We've recently been working on the Martian sky: weather, the day/night cycle, and how both of them eat into (or occasionally help) your rover's power.Day and nightThe daytime sky is butterscotch, and around sunset the glow near the sun turns blue, which is what the real Mars does too. The sun itself is drawn at the size you'd see it from Mars, about two thirds of what it looks like from Earth.Your solar output follows the sun. It's strongest around midday, drops as the sun gets low or when you park in shade, and at night it's zero. We made nights almost black on purpose, so after dark you drive by your lamps, and they run off the battery too.Dust storms and dirty panelsDust is what ended Opportunity: in 2018 a planet-wide dust storm blocked out the sun and the rover never woke up again.
