- Bugfix patch v1.5.2 - 5 July 2026
Just a small bug fix that was bothering some people. Sorry about that, folks! Completely missed this during development (and bug reports afterwards).Fixed:The spawning and despawning of Vaults and Glyph Sparks no longer cancel a currently active Absent Minded buff.
- Widget Inc. Minor update v1.5.1 - 29 June 2026

- Widget Inc. Update: Vaults and Glitches, oh my! - 8 June 2026
Hello to all Widgeteers! As promised, here's the next update in the Widget Inc. universe. While the previous updates mostly focused on late game progression, this one is more tailored to new players. So if you've been waiting to jump in, or start a new save file, now's the time!Full update notes are at the bottom of this post, but here's what you need to know:Vaults UncoveredAll across the world, the sands have been shifting in response to increased seismic activity. As a result, vaults of ancient technology have been emerging from deep within the earth. Hack the puzzle lock that keeps the vault sealed, and claim its contents for yourself!Glitch SparksThe destabilizing energy of the Glitched Frame has continued to wreak havoc on the planet - to your benefit, perhaps? Glitch Sparks now spawn intermittently across the world. Interact with them to reset your entropy and fill up your Glitche…
- Widget Inc. next update | Kingdom Inc. demo - 17 May 2026
Hi everyone!I'm back at it again, working on a new patch for Widget Inc.So far, most updates have focused on Prestige and other endgame mechanics - so I felt it was time to give the new player experience some much deserved love as well. So if you're looking to pick the game up for the first time, or are thinking about starting a new save file, it might be worth waiting a little while longer!Strange rumblings have been shaking the ground beneath your feet for a while now. At first, the Troglodytes appeared - strange, primitive humans that sought to destroy everything you've built. But now, the tremors have started uncovering even more remnants of an ancient civilization. And this time, you will be able to reap the rewards a lot more directly.Along with the new Vaults which should seriously speed up the early game, there's also a host of other changes: New Prestige unlocks, new achievemen…
- Bugfix patch v1.4.4.2 - 25 April 2026
Just a small update to fix some rare bugs, chances are you never encountered these! Fixed an issue where Frames placed inside of caves would become invisible after a save/load. Fixed an issue where placing a Fortress next to a cave entrance would prevent that cave from being destroyed by Napalm.
- Widget Inc. - Patch 1.4.4 - 18 March 2026
Hi all,It's that time again! I've been saving up a few months of bug fixes, incremental improvements and new toys to play with. Most of the new stuff is focused on end-game progression, but there are also some new additions to the Artifact system introduced in the last big patch. I hope you'll check them out!New additionsAdded new "Tunnel Borer" Prestige node. This new frame will allow you to dig a new tunnel to a cave that was previously destroyed with napalm.Added new "Artifact Science Center" Prestige node. This new frame will perform experiments on your donated duplicate artifacts, removing the duplicates from your collection but providing additional bonus productivity to your rocket launches.Added new "Subterranean Storage" Prestige node. This new frame can only be placed in caves, and provides an additional 1% item storage capacity (calculated after all other bonuses are applied).…
- Bugfix patch v1.4.3 - 22 December 2025
Just some small bug fixes and tweaks!Fixed the "Absent Minded" ability being removed by spawning Troglodytes.Fixed Troglodytes being able to spawn on top of Dig Sites and Excavators, even though there is an adjacent Fortress.Changed Fortresses to extinguish fires on top of killing troglodytes.Fixed Artifact Collection productivity not being displayed correctly in the tooltip of the Omega Launch Facility.Changed Artifact Collection productivity calculation to be multiplicative, not additive. This should be a big boost in productivity in the endgame with many sources of productivity overlapping and boosting eachother.
- Patch 1.4.2 - Cave Removal Service - 19 December 2025
Hi all,Another quick patch to address a common complaint: "Caves are in the way of my precious symmetry!"Well, who am I to dictate how the game is played? A new frame has been added to Tier 3. The Napalm Charge can be placed next to the offending Cave and, once fed enough Oil to get it started, will burn the cave and its devious inhabitants off your map. However, be aware that it will not come back! Caves are a limited spawn, so you'll always be a cave short (or two, or ten). Plan accordingly!Cheers,Tom
- Bugfix patch 1.4.1 - 18 December 2025
Just a small patch that fixes some issues that cropped up due to the recent "What Lurks Below" patch:Reduced the productivity bonus granted by Artifacts (especially for higher-tier artifacts, lower-tier unaffected).Troglodytes can no longer spawn on Dig Sites if they have a Fortress adjacent.Changed the "Ancient Legacy" achievement to now require 100 Prestige, as the previous iteration is now no longer achievable.Fixed the build cost calculation of Fortresses not resetting properly.
- Widget Inc. Update: What Lurks Below - 15 December 2025
Hey everyone, it's been a while! Time for some new content, I'd say. Let's start with the simple stuff.Trading cards now available!Better late than never. Steam Trading Cards and the associated rewards have been added, in case you wanted to spam Widget emoticons or spruce up your Steam profile with a rocket launch background. From what I can tell, cards should automatically be granted if you already have enough playtime to unlock them. What Lurks BelowAnd then, the more substantial part of this update: Something is shaking beneath your feet! The construction of your planet-spanning factory is waking up some old enemies and driving them from their subterranean hideouts into the sunlight.Unsightly creatures, if you ask me. And what's even worse, they're making a break for your Frames! If you don't act now, they will wreak havoc on your production!Thankfully, not all is lost. The invaders a…
- Patch 1.3.2.2 - Steam Deck controls fixed - 18 October 2025
Hi all,Since the emergency patch at the beginning of the month, Steam Deck controls have been partially unusable. And it wasn't even my fault, Unity seems to have introduced some undocumented changes in their "New Input" system that messed with Steam Deck specifically (and possibly Linux in general). So, after a partial shift back to the "Old Input" system, it works again. The march of progress, I guess.Sorry for the delay and inconvenience!
- Patch 1.3.2.1 (Unity vulnerability patch) - 3 October 2025
Nothing to see here, please disperse. This patch is just to fix a security vulnerability that was recently discovered in the Unity engine: Read more According to Unity, there is no evidence that the vulnerability was ever used maliciously, and with this update it is now fixed (for Widget Inc. at least).
- Widget Inc. Patch 1.3.2 - 9 September 2025
Hi all! Today's update is just a small patch to fix some bugs that were reported since the Prestige update. It will auto-enable once you research the Tier 2 milestone.
- Widget Inc. | Prestige Update - 20 June 2025
Welcome back! It's hard to believe that it's been over six months since the release of Widget Inc. Since then, I've received a lot of feedback and suggestions to improve the game, and one thing that keeps coming up is the wish for better endgame system that really transforms the experience for subsequent runs.Well, the wait is over, and the Prestige update is here! After launching your first rocket (or several, if you're looking for a good head start) you can now move into the Prestige system. Here, you can spend the points that you earn from your rocket launches on strong, gameplay-altering effects. Notable highlights include the Terraforming system that'll allow you to change the terrain that you build your factory on, a list of new planet types to discover, and powerful new abilities to expand on your chosen playstyle. And, of course, there are many more interesting effects to discov…
- Vanguard Galaxy demo now available - 5 June 2025
Thanks for playing Widget Inc! For quite a while now (long before the launch of Widget Inc) my friends and I have been working on an idle space sim game, and the demo for Vanguard Galaxy is now available on Steam! Vanguard Galaxy is a chill game about space exploration. Starting from humble beginnings, you arrive in a forgotten corner of the universe that has recently come under renewed scrutiny. Fight, mine and trade your way to the top, and uncover the reasons that have kept this place under the radar for so long. And, of course, you have your trusty Autopilot to automate most of the mundane tasks. The game adapts to your style of play, allowing both active and idle gameplay styles. And while the game was developed to sit at the bottom of your screen while you work or watch a movie, it can now also be played full-screen! Please check it out if the idea of an ambient space sim that sta…
- Upcoming Prestige Update - 29 May 2025
Hi all, Just a little something to show that I'm not dead! Right now, I'm hard at work on the upcoming Prestige update. This includes a full rework of the current "Start a new game after launching a rocket" system, with cool new gameplay additions and a whole tree of new transformative effects to unlock! At the moment the patch is still in development, but I wanted to at least share a few things ahead of time to keep in touch. If all goes according to plan, the update should be ready next month. Hope you're all looking forward to it!
- Minor Bugfix Patch | 4 March 2025 - 4 March 2025
One major problem fixed that affected people with a (very) high number of rocket launches, as well as some minor issues: Fixed a repeated integer overflow error that prevented the game from continuing. Fixed Glass Kiln and Oil Field not being able to keep up with speed upgrades. Fixed a text display issue with the Copper Mine.
- Patch 1.2.4 - Expanding Gameplay - 23 February 2025
Hi all, Time for a new update! Over the past few months I've been hard at work addressing some of the common criticisms of the game, and moving towards a more satisfying end game / prestige system. While we're not quite there yet (no significant prestige changes in this update), this update adds some often-requested features, quality-of-life changes, and balance changes that should improve the overall play experience. Let's check it out! The mysterious Glitched Frame makes a return, this time unlocking a new gameplay feature! Once you've found the Glitched Frame in the overworld it'll add a new set of upgrades in your Tech Tree which will unlock activated abilities for you to use during active gameplay. Haven't found the Glitched Frame yet? No worries, it's been made a bit easier to locate. Keep an eye on the overworld map for a hint as to where it's hiding. The Logistics Hub is a new a…
- Translation Beta - Widget Inc. localized! - 18 December 2024
Bonjour, guten Tag, hola, olá! I've been hard at work in the background, getting the game ready to be translated into multiple languages. When I started work I never intended for the game to be in any language other than English - as I didn't have any plans for a major release. However, seeing the success so far, it only makes sense to translate Widget Inc. for non-English-speaking parts of the world, to include more people who might otherwise be unable to enjoy the game. So, the past few weeks has been me going through the game with a fine-toothed comb, extracting every single line of text and converting them into a format that's more conducive to being translated. And the first version is finally here! Supported languages Right now, I have translated the game into German, French, Spanish and Portuguese. At the moment these are fully machine-translated, as apart from maybe German I'm n…
- Patch 1.1.20 - City Life Cycle - 22 November 2024
Hi all, After a few bugfix-patches during the launch window it's time for a bit more of a substantial update! Of course, there's also a few more bugfixes and balance changes here, but also the first new content after launch: Three new frames have been added! While all three are optional and not required to actually finish the game, they will hopefully provide some variety and alleviate annoying bottlenecks in the midgame. The first addition is the Recycler frame. It is unlocked in Tier 5, and must be placed on a City or Ruin. While active, the Recycler slowly sifts through the city's waste materials and converts them into raw materials: Iron Ingots, Batteries and Circuit Boards. Later in Tier 8 you unlock the City Builder. This is the first "real" way to terraform your world, as the City Builder will slowly convert nearby tiles into Cities. And best of all - each City tile constructed w…
