- Version 1.2 Released! New achievement! - 19 April 2026
Hi gamers,Minor update today coming, with the biggest news being a new achievement! Apologies achievement hunters, this does mean you've lost your 100% ;)The new achievement is for beating the game in a minute, but this time it has to be without without using the malfunctioning pod.For getting this achievement, you unlock a new skin: Bob HatterIt may actually be harder to get this achievement than the existing 30 seconds one. I think there are at least a few options for routes that could work, so experiment! Let a thousand blossoms bloom as far as I'm concerned. (Please note this achievement is not an endorsement of the political views held by any particular large-hat-wearing individual)Most other changes are small bug fixes and polish, but it's all good stuff methinks.ChangelogAdded a new achievement for beating the game in under a minute, but this time without using the item pod!Impro…
- Steam Deck and Linux Proton issues fixed! - 11 February 2026
Big news gamers!!!!!!!!! (but also short post)After reviewing Microsoft's documentation, I've discovered that I can include the problem DLL in the game's files without any issues. In other words, the game now works on Steam Deck and Linux without any tweaks required! I pushed the update this morning and have had two Steam Deck users confirm that it is working. If you have any issues, don't hesitate to let me know through the Discord (https://slashslash.games/discord) or Steam discussion board. Thanks Steam Deck-ers for your patience :)P.S. I'm in the middle of a small update that will be adding a special extra achievement... no promises when it'll be out but keep an eye on it!
- Version 1.1.0 Released! - 4 January 2026
Heya, droppin' a new version of Quantum Loop with a couple actual real new features as well as a couple fixes and improved polish. Very cool to be pushing the first update that isn't just bug fixing!Unlockable "Skins"This is a bit of a quirky one! Many achievements now unlock "skin", changing your ship to look like a different character from the game. Some characters have both a normal white version and a colour (red/accent colour) version available. Most of these are admitedly pretty silly! You can select a skin by selecting the corresponding achievement the Achievements menu. Note you must have unlocked the achievement on that save file, having it unlocked on your Steam profile alone isn't enough.I've added a button at the bottom of this menu to reset your skin as well.I wanted this feature for launch but had to cut it for time, very happy to have it in now :)Analogue inputAnalogue mov…
- Steam Deck & Proton compatibility information - 24 December 2025
UPDATE: The game should now work out of the box! It literally uses the same fix as what is described in this article, it's just included in the game now. Let me know if you have any other issues getting the game to work!---Heya,I meant to post this a lot sooner, but here's everything I know about making the game work on Steam Deck and other Linux-based systems. I'll continue to edit this article as the situation develops (unless I forget, in which case please do remind me).How to get the game runningThe game fails to launch as it can't properly access parts of ucrtbase.dll, a Windows system C++ redistributable file.Fortunately this is a pretty easy process to fix, here are two options for ya.Quick manual fixFind a copy of ucrtbase.dll, and put it in the game folder (i.e. next to the .exe; common/Quantum Loop/ucrtbase.dll).Whilst there are downloads for the file online, but I won't be pr…
- Launch Week Debrief! + Update version 1.0.1 - 3 December 2025
Hi gamers!First off, thanks so much to everyone who's already grabbed a copy and been enjoying the game, and a special thanks to the peoples who left a review and helped the game in getting 10 reviews really quickly! (the 10 review spike is real oml)It's been really cool as well to hear from people attempting to get 100% and I'm glad people reckon the game is as cool and epic as I do. The launch discount is only on until midnight tonight, so if you're yet to grab a copy or want to grab a copy for ya mate Greg from down the block now is the time! It's 10% off the base game, but with the soundtrack it's a further 15% off making it a grand total of 23.5% off! 🤓To Steam Deck owners: I am aware there have been issues getting it to run. I don't own a Steam Deck to figure it out on, but my good friendo Ethan's tireless efforts have identified the problem and he's gotten it running with pretty…
- Version 1.0.1 - Small patch fixing a bunch o' bugs - 3 December 2025
Thanks so much to everyone who's been enjoying the game! These bug fixes are primarily based on bug reports from you guys 🫵. Remember you can press F1 at any time to open the bug report form, and there's also a dedicated channel for it on the Official Quantum Loop™ Discord™ Server™.Changelog v1.0.1This patch exclusively includes bug-fixes and has no meaningful changes to content.Fixed pause menu selector sometimes incorrectly showing above or below the list of options when pause was opened from losing focus loss.Fixed a rare crash that was occurring when braking repeatedly near asteroids.Long lists of replies can no longer wrap around to the top of the screen during selection transition animations.Pressing the back button (default X / gamepad B) to leave the character menu while in dialogue would also select the back reply option. (it now doesn't).Description text in launcher no longer…
- Coming out this November! + PAX Aus & SXSW Sydney debrief - 21 October 2025
G'day gamers. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm still getting used to the whole having-your-own-Steam-page-to-maintain thing, so here are some updates I forgot to post here!1. Quantum Loop is coming out this November!I can hardly believe it myself but yes, it's somehow nearly finished and it's coming out in one month. Some of you might notice the lack of a specific date - I have a date in mind but am currently refraining from specifics, as it's quite likely I'll have something last-minute I'll need to scramble together that will affect the exact date. Once everything is 100% ready to go, I'll make a post letting you know the final release date! Expect mid-to-late November though :).2. Quantum Loop was at PAX Aus and SXSW SydneyThis was a really amazing (if exhausting) experience and I'm glad to have seen and talked to so many people playing the game for the first time. At PAX you…
- Update to Quantum Loop Demo - Beta014 - 31 August 2025
An update has been released for the demo of Quantum Loop. It adds a bunch of big improvements to the game's backend and presentation. The update adds no new content, so if you've played before, there's not much reason to play again. Also just an update for anyone who missed it: Quantum Loop is going to be at both PAX Aus in Melbourne and SXSW Sydney! If you're going to either of these events, I hope to see you there :)There are tons of additions and tweaks in this new version and I couldn't list all of them! Here are some highlights:Asteroids now make a rumble sound as they move past you, and there is now a rumble sound when flying at high speed.Three save slots that are synced with Steam Cloud on a per-user basis.More music tracks added! All menu systems are now smoothly animated.Various UI improvements.Launcher allows much greater configuration of the game, including full keyboard and g…
- Quantum Loop Demo Version 4 - 1 March 2025
Just shipping a relatively small update with some slight polish and fixing a couple pretty major bugs. This includes fixing the unplayable hitching that was coming up about 5-10 minutes of (game world) time into runs. As part of this, you should also get significantly better performance as more asteroids spawn, with my personal stress-testing keeping to a more consistent ~70 FPS where it was previously closer to 40 with pretty bad hitching. Also greatly expanded button prompts both for keyboard and gamepad controls. Keyboard button prompts are much nicer aesthetically and more readable, and prompts now exist for joystick and d-pad directions. Other than that, highlight bug fixes include fixing looping sounds not responding to the volume slider, and the astronaut not spinning around the spaceship as they're supposed to. See the changelog below for the full list of bug-fixes and improved…
- Quantum Loop Demo Launch + Update! - 17 February 2025
Heya! After a brief soft-launch I'm now officially launching the Quantum Loop Demo publicly :) This short demo gives a preview of what to expect from Quantum Loop's gameplay. It should take around 10-20 minutes to complete. Should be a quick download so I'd love for you to give it a try! This demo is a separate slice from what the main game will be, with its own characters and objectives. The full game will have a much larger map with more intertwining objectives and new characters, as well as many additional mechanics. While there's no formal release date as of yet, the rough plan is to ship the game in around the next 3 months. As a disclaimer: This game uses a custom engine, and this is its first ever public launch. It's likely there'll be some problems on some systems, so if you find anything that doesn't play nice on your machine, please report an issue through the option on the pa…
