When is the FNAF Secret of the Mimic release date? Five Nights at Freddy's is one of the most well-known and well-loved horror game series of all time, and it just keeps on coming. There are mainline games, spinoff games, toys, VR games, and a movie series now, and, almost ten years to the day since the franchise's debut, another official spin-off horror game was announced. Secret of the Mimic is an officially licensed FNAF game from Steel Wool studios which previously released Security Breach and VR game Help Wanted. The latest installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series is presumably entirely cannon like previous Steel Wool games, but is set to deep dive into an all-new set of characters. I love the original Five Nights at Freddy's (or FNAF as it's affectionately known) largely because of its simplicity. One location, one week, one screen - you get a terrific sense of where you are and why, and it makes the whole game really sing. Mix that with the '80s retro-tech flair of Stranger Things - floppy-discs, CRT monitors, pixelscript - and some bloody, first-person combat a la Resident Evil Village, and the result is Suffer The Night, a new Steam horror game with a smart, metatextual (a-thank you) twist. Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon has announced he is retiring, just days after a controversy erupted over his past donations to Republican candidates, including Donald Trump . Cawthon confirmed his decision in a statement shared to ScottGames.com , accompanied by Five Nights at Freddy's artwork drawn by an unnamed eight-year-old fan. There's no mention of the controversy in his statement, save for a reference to him receiving support from the LGBTQ community - a nod to the recent criticism faced by him for supporting Republican candidates with broadly anti-LGBTQ stances. The creator of horror game series Five Nights at Freddy's has started an initiative to fund and release fangames. A number of creations by rookie developers are being supported through the cause, which will hopefully get them a wider release, too. In a Reddit post (cheers, Eurogamer ), Scott Cawthon, the main developer behind the survival games explained the impetus behind the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, and outlined what it's offering to collaborators. "It's a giant collaboration involving several fangame creators who have made some of the most popular fangames over the years here in the community," Cawthon explained. Scott Cawthon, creator of the phenomenally popular Five Nights at Freddy's series of horror games (and novels!) has unleashed a veritable heap of new updates on the franchise, including early details of a new "triple-A" game, further news on console ports, and more. First things first (as outlined in a very busy blog update over on Steam ), Cawthon confirmed that the Five Nights at Freddy's console ports, as unveiled in August, are still in the works. Cawthon originally announced console versions of the series back in 2016, only to later cancel them "due to concerns about the deal", so their continued existence this time is encouraging. It's been a while since the long-in-gestation Five Nights at Freddy's movie appeared to be any closer to reaching the big screen, but there finally seems to be movement; Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is now confirmed to be helming the film adaptation. A Five Nights at Freddy's movie was first touted back in 2015, when Warner Bros. revealed that it had acquired the rights to produce a film adaptation of the mindbogglingly popular horror game property. At the time, producer Seth Grahame-Smith said that the studio was looking to make "an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie" in conjunction with original game creator Scott Cawthon.
