  • Winner of Excellence in sound design! + Fixes - 24 July 2025

Pleased to announce at this years BitSummet in Japan, Electro Bop won an award for Excellence in sound design! I'm very happy to see that the quirky and unusual audio mechanics, paired with an unrepresented genre of music in the gaming industry, was appreciated enough to win an award! Hope to be back next year with a new title!Game/Bug Fixes!New 10 countdown ref UI animation when a fighter is downTutorial slimmed down by just a littlePicture in Picture videos added to the tutorial, hopefully for easier comprehensionFixed a keyboard/controller bug that allowed player to select UI elements of their opponentFixed a visual bug that caused the static overload electrical particles to appear on the wrong fighterElongated the text fields in the tutorial in an effort to help reduce the amount of bad text breaks when playing in Chinese, Japanese or Korean language.

  • Slightly improved the onboarding experince - 31 May 2025

The information within the tutorial as been slightly spaced out and trimmed in just a couple small spots to make it more digestible. Accessing the robot equipping and crafting menus are now locked until the player completes 1 and 2 matches respectively (win or lose). This is to lessen the amount of information overload and for a better pacing. As always, for those interested in buying the game, I suggest play the demo first to get a feel. This guide is here to help you too! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3465247098 Many thanks! Developer Dob - Rob.

  • Minor bug fixes #3 - 20 May 2025

Round breaktime will end early when both teams run out of repair energy Reboot success rates slightly lowered for both player and NPC Fixed a couple minor UI issues, such as mirrored text or incorrect bindings showing. The very first instance of a 'voting event' is now delayed by several days to reduce the amount of information overload for new players (only applicable to new games) As always, I recommend playing the demo before buying the game to see if you like the unconventional gameplay. If you run into difficulties and want a few tips, I recommend the guide in the community section. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3465247098 A big thanks to those that have supported the game, to those that wrote a steam review and/or those that came by my booth at PAX East!

  • Minor bug fixes #2 - 21 April 2025

Fixed gorilla arm ability from persisting outside of battle Robots were sometimes standing out of position during the corner repair break time, extra logic added to help prevent this Some punch card ability combos weren't displaying in the card equip menu. This has been fixed. Fixed missing UI text in a couple areas of the game Mine spawner ability will now properly end when a round ends As always, I recommend playing the demo before buying the game to see if you like the unconventional gameplay. If you run into any issues or want a few tips, I recommend the guide in the community section. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3465247098 A big thanks to those that have supported the game and the people that dropped a steam review!

  • Post release bug fixes - 20 April 2025

Fixed edge case with the Barrel Body 10% repair energy restore perk, that cause the restoration to not always apply or apply late. When the CPU used the Barrel Body, the 10% repair energy perk was improperly applying towards the player. This has been fixed Fixed a visual UI issue with the repair energy meter that was improperly showing 100% full energy prior to use. Turned off UI navigation for the module wheel. It was causing confusing UI navigation for controller players. Activating the module wheel should be initiating by the shortcut button or mouse input. Parts crafting minigame will slow the flashing rate if the player fails several inputs attempts Added a fallback texture for missing/white UI in the battle panel. Fixed controller UI navigation when using combo abilities A big thanks to those that have supported the game and the people that dropped a steam review! It's a big help…

  • Electro Bop Released! Steam reviews are welcomed! - 18 April 2025

Electro Bop is now available for purchase! I recommend giving the demo a play before you buy, just to see if you like the unique mix of auto battle + rhythm inputs. Many thanks to those that have added their input along the way. There's limited perspective when solo developing, so your feedback has been valuable! This has very much been a fun project for me to work on. A large factor of that coming from the electro swing style music that my talented composer friends crafted for the game. I'll be more than happy to patch in more music, free of charge, if the game is well received :) For newcomers, I recommend checking our the forum guides if you're having any issues. I'll also be monitoring for any issues and can assist you. Many thanks! -Developer Dob (Rob)

  • 2 Player mode! & Latency test branch. - 26 March 2025

After several long days of mental gymnastics I figured out how to support a local 2 player VS mode! The versus mode is accessible from the battle menu. Player 2 won't have access to mouse inputs, meaning they will need to play on a controller. The controller must be assigned to player 2 in the settings > controls menu. Robot parts, abilities and which arena the battle takes place are reflective of your career progress when playing a versus match. (not applicable in the demo) Versus mode has a handicap value that will modify the damage output of your regular punches. It's intended to accommodate players of differing skill levels. If you encounter any Versus bugs please let me know. Latency test branch For any players experiencing constant input fails whist tapping with the music (in battle), I have a special demo for you with a different underlying event system. If can be accessed by rig…

  • Cosmetics and more! - 15 March 2025

Thanks to some community suggestions the game has been updated gloves cosmetics, accessible from the parts equipping menu. As the name implies, cosmetics are just a visual flair you can equip on your gloves. They can be purchased with your in-game credits. Tightened up the static overload tapping minigame. There was a slight offset between the visuals and music beat. Barrel body now regenerates repair energy per round Barrel head slightly improved processor power Lowered HP of all head parts by a bit to slightly increase odds of a headless knockout. Improved the UI selection pathing in regards to selecting abilities and punchcards for controllers/keyboard naviation. If you tapped right too many times whist loading punchcards, it would navigate down to the bottom menu buttons which was annoying... this has been fixed. *Edit* Better syncing of the visual tapping hand when releasing landmi…

  • Memory and physics optimizations - 7 March 2025

optimized/reduced the required memory allocation, lowering overhead cpu costs. lowered the amount of interpolation calculations on the arms at the cost physics accuracy. This MAY result in some odd arm movements... but from my tests the arms seem to be performing correctly. (I may add a settings slider for this depending on the results) Fixed a couple minor bugs *Update* Even more optimizations cleared out some memory spikes relating to UI vfx. Some UI elements have been swapped out for some simplified lightweight visuals. less GPU load More polish to come. Thanks for playing! Developer Dob (Rob)

  • More optimizations and balance - 4 March 2025

Improved overall performance, particularly on the mid-lowest range setting. Shadows cost less to compute and also look sharper Landmines deal more damage to opponents Incremental HP recovery (a perk on one of the locked robot parts) slightly nerfed Fixed one mis-timed tap in the parts crafting minigame. *UPDATE* I moved a couple key bindings around. I moved the dash left/right keys to Q and R for easier access alongside the Arms/Legs/Heat bindings (1,2,3 keys) More polish to come. Thanks for playing! Developer Dob (Rob)

  • Large patch, several adjustments. - 2 March 2025

I believe this patch will fix the incorrectly failing beats some players experienced. Part of this fix involved reworking the music events, along with lesser compression on the music. If this resolved the issue or you're still experiencing tons of failed beats, do please let me know! A few performance optimizations on both the visuals and physics Some slight polish added to the scrapyard arena. There's now a few arena TVs for visual aid with tapping, they also display a Stop Sign when a break in the music beats are underway. There were reports of people wanting more ways to restore their repair energy, I added an extra daily event that does just that. I'll be looking for more unique ways to restore repair energy beyond simply buying it. The intent is that repair energy needs to be rationed throughout the bracket matches, which I need to do a better job of informing and balancing. Improv…

  • Arms/Legs/Heat meter now key bound! - 27 February 2025

The community suggested binding the arm/legs/heat meters to shortcut keys for easier interaction. I shuffled around the default bindings to do exactly that. Now instead of having to pre-select the meter or tap it with the mouse, you can just hit the key bind. By default this is bound to 1,2,3 on keyboard, or the top 3 round buttons on xbox/ps controllers. With this you can focus a bit more on the abilities, dashing or just enjoy the visuals. If anyone experiences most of their musical beat prompts failing, please message me or make a post. I'm unable to replicate this issue so I'm hoping to collect a few details from you. It's worth testing to see if the beat prompt completes when referencing the visual tapping hand VS the audible beat. More polish to come. Thanks for playing! Developer Dob (Rob)

  • A new Belt for those wanting less clicking. - 26 February 2025

I know some find the upkeep of rhythm clicking to be a bit overwhelming, so I've added a new "training belt" that will help with this. Instead of having to tap your meters in sync with the beat repeatedly, they can just be tapped once and they will slowly fill. It's not as effective as manual taps, but it's much easier. This belt it merely meant to help the player get use to the tapping mechanics and eventually move on to better belts, thus this belt will not allow money and fans to be earned when equipped. There are other effective ways to mitigate clicking so often listed in the guide >>> https://steamcommunity.com/app/3211280/discussions/0/4693406471885526618/ Thanks! Developer Dob (Rob)

  • Minor Optimizations / Fixes and a Player Guide - 25 February 2025

I've updated my forum post with some useful information for those wishing to optimize their strategy or wanting a better understanding of the game. Forum post >>> https://steamcommunity.com/app/3211280/discussions/0/4693406471885526618/ Patch notes... Further graphical optimizations added on the lower end settings. Players with low end PCs might notice slightly improved performance on lower settings. Fixed a couple typos Fixed a Vsync UI issue Feedback is welcomed! I believe this game to be somewhat unconventional, and with that, hopefully a new experience players will enjoy. However I should note the game will test your multi-tasking skills, to a point that some players might find it overwhelming at the start. With that said, I'd be happy to hear what players are thinking. PS. If your game progress is NOT being saved, please let me know. Thanks!! Developer Dob (Rob)

  • Updates & Public Demo coming this week! (bugs reports/feedback welcomed!) - 18 February 2025

Demo now cloud saves Public Demo dropping end of this week! Thank you to the individuals that provided some feedback on the private demo thus far! I'm definitely open to suggestions on ways to improve the game. If anyone encounters any bugs please let me know. Thanks!! Developer Dob (Rob)

  • Development Update - 2 December 2024

A few development features I have in the works... Carefully refining the delicate balance between rhythm mechanics and controls. Aiming for a fun chaotic experience while the player juggles robot inputs and rhythmic beats. Reworking the UI. Aiming to make it easier to read at a glance while supporting new features added Several new electro swing style music tracks created (posted weekly on my youtube ) Once I lock down the primary gameplay flow I'll be turning my attention back to the combat abilities (stunning punches, heat generating flamethowers, lazer eyes, etc...) I welcome any suggested ability ideas!
