- Playtest Starting June 23 - 1 June 2026
Howdy Cowboys! We’ve finally got some big news to share. Erosion’s first public playtest will open on June 23 and run through June 30 on Steam!Over the past several months we’ve been hard at work expanding the world, refining systems, and making sure the game delivers on the weird neon-west roguelike experience we’ve been building toward. This will be the first playable version of the game shown to anyone in the public and we’re excited for you to play it!For those just hearing about the game, Erosion is a roguelike where every death pushes the world forward by 10 years. Your daughter has been kidnapped and dragged into a mysterious pillar that twists time itself. Each failed run means the world changes, towns evolve, factions rise and fall, and your daughter grows older while you fight your way deeper into the dungeon trying to save her.The Open OverworldOne of the things that makes Ero…
- Side Quests in the Western Open Upperworld - 1 May 2026
Howdy Cowboys, In today’s dev update, I want to show you another facet of the overworld that makes Erosion unique as a roguelike. Pop will quickly find that the dungeon can be very unforgiving. The bandits who have kidnapped his daughter have a whole host of wacky and dangerous powers that will make it really difficult to reach her. While you may be able to find a strong loadout and go on a deep run, you’ll have the opportunity to increase your baseline power level by building out your Camp in the upper world. This will let each run be more consistent and increase your chances of reaching your daughter. The overworld is full of characters, factions and quests to help upgrade your Camp. When your deaths skip time forward, so will their stories. In today’s dev log, I’m going to share a few of the quests and minigames in the upper world.Hover Racing What’s the point of having hover trucks…
- Dev Update: Whip it, Uzi Bear! - 31 March 2026
Howdy Cowboys! We want Erosion to be a very special addition to the roguelike catalogue. To achieve that, we’re building the game on a unique premise - where deaths shift time to impact an open overworld. Today, I’m highlighting 2 weapons and some of the work we’ve been doing on the open overworld. Whip it!What kind of cowboy game would this be if you couldn’t crack a Whip?! The Whip is the starting secondary weapon. As a reminder, Secondary Weapons are melee weapons with unlimited ammo. Fighting with them increases the chance of ammo drops for your Primary Weapon so swapping between the two is a test of resource management. The Whip has an AOE effect, damaging all enemies in its path. But as you can see in this little clip, it has an unusual crescent path, encouraging you to kite mobs in a favourable direction.Getting UziWe’ve also been working on the Uzi, a new Primary Weapon. While it…
- Dev Update: Combat Loadouts - 7 March 2026
Howdy Cowboys! We have been working hard the past few months and we wanted to share part of our development. Erosion is a dungeon-crawling roguelike where each death makes time skip forward 10 years. The world ages and so does your kidnapped daughter who you’ll try to save before her whole life erodes away. While the overworld has characters, villages, and minigames to explore, the core of the experience is in the underground dungeons. An otherworldly marble pillar seems to be source of mysterious happenings. For decades, it has been chipping at anything and anyone in its way, like a river through a canyon. But when a suspicious gang of misfits asks for a ride to the central pillar, it opens with a gate of light. Your daughter is taken inside so you must follow. With that brief intro to the background lore, I wanted to explain the core of the roguelike mechanics in combat. As you progress…

- Erosion Playtest and new Dancing boss - 15 December 2025
Cowboys, we appreciate that you’ve moseyed over to check out our game. By blending roguelike dungeon crawler with an open world time loop, we’re really trying to do something that hasn’t been done before. Our plan is to launch the game in early access next year. There’s still a lot to make so we’d like your opinions and feedback. Arcade BossesAt the start of the game, a mysterious gang kidnaps your daughter. They kill you, but you respawn 10 years later. She was taken into the giant pillar and inside, you find a winding maze in an abandoned gold mine. This makes up the first dungeon of the game. At the end of a dungeon, you’ll encounter one of the gang members. Through a peculiar transformation, they turn into a suped up bossfight that evokes a classic arcade game. We revealed Long Arms in the initial trailer. Long Arms isn’t just based on Snake, though. Each boss mixes some sort of exte…
- Erosion - Developer Walkthrough - 25 November 2025
First of all, thanks for checking out our new game! We were so happy to finally reveal it to all of you and the reception has been amazing. You may wondering how our game can be so many clever gaming buzzwords: "roguelike", "open world", "time-loop" and "choices matter". Well have no fear, we have some explainin' to do! You can watch this dev walkthrough video that shows one small example where dungeons, open world, timelines and choices all intertwine. In EROSION, each death costs a decade. You’ll take on dystopian dungeons in the depths and a spaghetti western overworld but while most roguelikes bring you back to the beginning when you die, each attempt moves time forward and the world above erodes with it. Can you save your daughter before she grows old and passes away?Erosion blends a dungeon crawling roguelike with an open world where your choices matter. Each life, you’ll choose t…
