- Mythos Update - September 1st, 2026 - 1 September 2026
Hey, Mythies! So this update is gonna be a kinda short one. Not because I didn't get a lot done - I definitely cranked out a bunch of renders. The scene you can see above I may redo, though; I'm not sure I entirely like the way Sylvia's ballroom looks for this scene. It's supposed to look different than it did in Book One, since this is years later, but I feel like it doesn't have the right... thing. What the French call a certain "I don't know what."The reason I got a lot done, however, is because stuff has been rough. Not just from me turning 47 yesterday, but we also lost our little orange cat (Cecil). He's the one who's been in many of my "self" renders, and he's even sitting on my lap during Book Two's "Author's Foreword". I'm not going to rerender the whole foreword to remove him, but there's still a cat-shaped hole in my heart. For the first time in my entire life I'm not living…
- Mythos Character Interview - Vic Mercury - 6 August 2026
Author’s Note: Hey, Mythies! Here’s the first of our Book Two previews that take the form of character interviews. It’s important to note that these interviews will contain spoilers for Book One, so if you haven’t played that one yet, you may wanna skip them until you do!Jessica Lee: Good morning, Baltimore, and welcome back. We’re here in our brand new studio to talk about the upcoming sequel to Mythos, Book One. Mythos, Book Two: Legendary Lore is a brand new entry in the Mythos series, and the demo is going to be releasing… er… soon. As before, I will be interviewing the cast of Mythos to get the scoop on what we can expect out of this new installment in the Mythos franchise. Appropriately enough, our first interview is with the main character themself: Vic Mercury! Welcome to the show, Vic. Vic Mercury: Hey, yeah, thanks for having me, Jessie. JL: (Taking a deep breath) That’s… that…
- Mythos Update - August 1st, 2026 - 1 August 2026
Okay, Mythies! I’m back in it fully, now!For those of you just tuning in to “The Nine Show”, let me do a real quick rundown.Morgana (my partner) tore her rotator cuff.Said rotator cuff injury required surgery, which requires a good amount of time off work.Morgana doesn’t have that much paid time off. While recovering, Morgana basically can’t do anything on her own (including… potty business).Because of this, Nine was super-stressed and also too busy to get much done on Mythos.Sadly, this resulted in over a month where I could only get a few renders done, but I did make the most of my time in other ways. In between all the cooking and cleaning and bathing and such, I got all my stuff in order for when I could sit back down and do some real work. Part of that was a much-needed reorganization of my Mythos… “filing system”.My previous system was keeping about half of it in my head, with ever…
- Mythos Update - July 1st, 2026 - 1 July 2026
July is here, and it's... really freaking hot. I weep for my future electric bill. Hell, I weep for my current electric bill.Heh... "current". Electric. Gosh, I'm funny. I was perhaps overly optimistic when I thought I'd be able to get a lot of work done on renders, and to be fair I actually did. As you can see above, I'm still cranking out renders for Book Two, as you can see above. No, I'm not going to give any context on what the hell is going on there. That's just something for you to look forward to. But I said I was overly optimistic because I didn't get nearly as much done as I'd wanted. I knew I'd have to be helping out Morgana (my partner) as she recovers from rotator cuff surgery, but neither of us realized just how debilitating it would be to have her dominant arm completely immobilized. Sure some things were obvious, such as I'd have to help her shower, carry things, and so…
- Mythos Update - June 1st, 2026 - 1 June 2026
Hello, Mythies! Welcome to June!I have great news to share on the Mythos front, as the first chapter/demo has been completely written and the rendering is well underway. This means that you’ll be seeing images from the game for my updates, instead of boring pictures of me holding my cat. The image for this update is actually the first of the in-game renders I’ve made, and I’m liking how my video card upgrade seems to be making my renders look better (since bad renders were one of the main critiques of Book One). However, there is a slight hiccup in the game development process, and that’s related to some nastiness hitting my personal life. If you don’t care about my drama, feel free to skip reading the rest of this. If you want to know what’s happening, and indeed if you want to offer your help (which would be greatly appreciated), you can find out all about that here.If not, have a hap…
- Mythos Update - May the Fourth, 2026 - 4 May 2026
Greetings, Mythies; May the 4th be with you! Here’s my monthly loop-in for everyone so you’ll know just how close you are to getting your little toes dipped into the murky waters of Mythos, Book Two. My original self-imposed deadline was to have the entire demo/first chapter written by the end of April. I never talk about the goals I set for myself because I know that as soon as I set expectations, something will happen that will derail my plans. This month proved that point, as I have only one scene left to write and I got disgustingly ill for about a week and wasn’t good for much of anything that didn’t involve a toilet in some capacity. That being said, despite the gloomy stuff I just said in the last paragraph, I kinda buried the lede: There’s only one scene left for me to write in the demo! While the demo is shorter than Book One’s first chapter, I’m still thinking I’m just going to…
- Mythos Update – March 31st, 2026 - 31 March 2026
March Mythies! How y’all doin’?I’m actually doing mostly okay. The alpha readers have been going over my scripts and I expect that the Book Two demo will be launched without a hitch. When? Oh, no no… I’m not falling for that trap. As soon as I put out a solid release date, or even an estimate, that’s when catastrophes happen. Just know that I’ve been working, and I even have others watching my work to attest to it. Something the alpha readers aren’t seeing, however, is the other stuff I’m also working on for Mythos. When I can’t write, I’m doing other Mythos things. The bug that’s gotten into me this month has been the music. If you weren’t aware, I made all the music for Mythos, Book One (except for Rain’s theme). Mythos, Book Two is going to reuse some of those tracks, where appropriate. For example, a character from Book One that appears in Book Two will probably have the same theme s…
- Mythos Update - February 28th, 2026 - 28 February 2026
Heya, Mythies! Welcome to the end of February! I've decided against doing "weekly updates", especially during the writing phase of Book Two, since there isn't really enough news going on every week to tell you stuff. Plus, as someone pointed out, updating y'all every single week takes away time that I could be like... doing stuff. Thus, I'm gonna do these monthly (maybe), and I'm not going to try to do a different render for every one. Now on to actually updating you on things!Book One Updates (?)"But Nine," I hear you saying thanks to the surveillance malware I've put on your phones, "isn't Book One already finished?" Yes, it sure is! But that doesn't mean I'm just ignoring it's existence. There's a few minor bugs to squish, but nothing so important that I've prepared a whole patch for it, yet. I also still would like to add more languages but I really can't afford translations right n…
- Weekly(?) Update - January 26th, 2026 - 26 January 2026
Hello, Mythies! For the development of Book One, I was posting weekly updates on the progress of the game. I feel like Steam users wouldn't be so keen on that, so I may condense them into monthly posts for here. If you want the weekly updates as they come, you can always check out my Bluesky or the Nine of Swords Website, which will be getting more frequent (but smaller) news updates. Anyway, now that the holidays are over (MAGFest and Morgana’s birthday both count as holidays), it’s time for me to really get to work on Book Two. So is the first chapter ready, yet?No. The outline for all of Book Two is, however! I was pondering making a flashy kinda video like how Stranger Things would give the names of their episodes out before the season, but I’m not sure if that’s the best use of my time. I’m already trying to not make all new renders for the weekly updates because that also took a b…
- Happy New Year, Mythies! - 1 January 2026
Hello there, Steam-based Mythies! It's your old pal Nine here with some end-of-the-year cheer to spread. It was a long road with a whole bunch of bumps, but 2025 was the year that I actually completed my first story and put it out there for the world to see. Sure, it may not have exploded in popularity (not yet, anyway), but I'm actually immensely proud of myself for just having done it. So many solo devs never manage to finish their games, but here we are. This isn't the end for Mythos, though - as I've already mentioned. I've taken my time off to relax and pursue my own things, but now the work on Book Two begins. For those who weren't around for the development of Book One, it's gonna be a ride. There's character interviews and short stories that get released alongside each chapter of the game as it comes out. Chapter One of Book Two is going to be the "demo" of the next game, which I…
- Ask Mythos Anything - The Answers! - 14 October 2025
Hello, Mythies!Last month I asked y'all to submit your questions to "Ask Mythos Anything!" These questions could be toward me or any of the characters in the game (or games, since Book Two characters were on the table). Indeed, the questions were asked! Most of the questions were for me, which makes sense; all of Book One is done so there's not much left to ask those characters. Little is known about the Book Two cast, but each of them got at least one question! Heck, even Morgana (my real-life spouse) got some questions. Please note that there are hella spoilers for Book One in here, so if you haven't finished the first game you may not wanna look any further.Without further ado, let's start with the questions given directly to me...For Nine: Will each book be a murder mystery, or will there be different kinds of stories in the Mythos world?Nine: I plan on each book being at least a “m…
- It's an AMA (Ask Mythos Anything)! - 9 September 2025
Hello, Mythies! It's 9/9, so I figure on this lovely Ninesday I should give you all a special treat. For long-time Mythies, you'll be mostly familiar with "Ask the Dev" and "Ask the Cast" — But it's going to be a little different this time around. Just what the heck is goin' on, here?As Mythos, Book One was being developed, I'd open myself up for questions between each chapter release. These "Ask the Dev" segments were basically much like your standard "Ask Me Anything", but I wouldn't be answering them in real time. Instead, there was a window for question submissions, and then I'd compile all the questions and answer them in an article. Also, between chapters, I would have a totally different window for "Ask the Cast", which would enable players to ask questions directly to the characters in Mythos. If you've read any of the character interviews I posted here, it's much like an interact…
- Mythos Update - 3 September 2025
Welcome back, Mythies! Or, for those of you who are only now discovering the world of Mythos: Welcome! You are now one of the Mythies. No takebacks. It’s been a long time since I’ve posted an update, and there’s so much to cover that I had to organise my thoughts a bit. I wanted to have this posted last night, but it became so long and rambly that I decided to start over with a more clearly defined outline of things I need to cover. It’s still gonna be long, but at least it’s organised! Let’s start with… Book One PostmortemWhat I learned, and how I’ll be applying it to Book Two Mythos, Book One was my first game. While I’m satisfied with how the story shook out, there are quite a few things I learned that are going to shape how I’m going to develop future games.Bear in mind that I haven’t even begun work on Book Two yet. Yes, I have the general plot knocking around in my head, but I have…
- Mythos, Book One - v 1.1.0.0 - 26 July 2025
At last, the French Translation of Mythos, Book One is available! And to celebrate, we're having a sale. You can get Mythos (in two languages, no less) for 24% off for the next nine days! My idea was to try to get the game to sell for $9.99 for 9 days because that's like... thematic. But Steam only lets me do percentage discounts, I'm bad at math, and that really only matters if you use USD for currency so... just take the discount, okay?! In addition to adding the French translation, there's been a few (minor) changes to the game itself. The main font has changed (the one used in menus and the main character's name). The original font didn't play well with foreign language characters, so I had to use a more "universal" font. The main menu screen logo is now a separate element that can change when translated. Additionally, for those who use the non-animated main menu option, there's a ne…
- Mythos, Book One v1.1.0.0 - This Saturday! - 20 July 2025
Hello, Mythies! The first (of hopefully many) Mythos games has been out for about a month now, and I'm so glad to see so many of you enjoying it! While it's been a great relief to have my first volume finished and published, I haven't exactly stopped working on it, either. In fact, you're going to see the fruits of my post-release labour this Saturday!Version 1.1.0.0 won't contain any new story content, since I'm saving all that for Book Two. Therefore, if you've finished Book One, you don't even really need to worry about the rest of this announcement. There were various bugfixes and minor typo corrections for this new version, but the bulk of it was preparing the French translation while also laying the groundwork for future translations. A lot of images had to be reworked, the main font changed, the videos dissected, and the Lorebook... re-booked? Basically, Mythos, as it was original…

- Mythos Character Interview - Mara MacLachlan! - 14 June 2025
Jessica Lee: Good morning, and welcome back. Today we go back to interviewing characters from Mythos, starting with Detective Mara MacLachlan. Welcome to the show, Mara.Mara MacLachlan: Thank you for having me, Jessica. Happy to take a break from helping Ky through their "mortal" troubles. JL: So you're saying the main character faces some real peril, then?MM: (Laughing) Apparently, but... there obviously can't be the death of the main character, being as they live to tell this tale. I know it sort of lowers the stakes a bit, but being as the narrator can't tell the story when they're dead...JL: Well, I don't know about that -- have you ever seen Casino?MM: Oh. That's a good point.(Author's Note: Whoops. I guess I should have warned there's a Casino spoiler in here.)JL: So the events of the game have alerted the police on a State level?MM: In a sense, yes. Without going into too much de…
- Mythos Character Interview - Rain Sunbeam! - 11 June 2025
(Author's Note: Rain speaks with a "Bawlmer (Baltimore) Accent". For the uninitiated, it means she says "hon" a lot, and a "unique" pronunciation of some words - such as Tuesday being Tuesdee, iron being arn, etc - may seem like odd typos, but I assure you they are intentional. It's a sort of difficult accent to convey through typing, so I encourage you to look up videos of people speaking to get a good grasp on how Rain sounds... and what I've lived around all my life.)Rain Sunbeam: Wow... it's so bright in here! Jessica Lee: Yes, the lighting in here can be a little harsh if you're not used to the studios... which clearly you're not - did you come in here barefoot?RS: (Sitting cross-legged on the couch) I try to be barefoot whenever possible, hon. It keeps me in tune wiff Gaia.JL: Ah, right... Well, this is just going to be a standard interview—RS: Like the one wiff Tara?JL: Oh, um...…
- Mythos Character Interview - B! - 8 June 2025
Jessica Lee: Just... "B"? That's not short for anything? B: Oh, it is! JL: Great! What's your full name, then? B: B-yootiful. JL: (Sigh) Right. Well, I'm glad to see you came dressed professionally, at least. B: Well, of course! I have to look my best for the interview. Stage Manager: And we're on in five... four... three... B: Why don't they ever say the last two? JL: Good even-- B: (Cutting in) Good evening, Baltimore! I'm here with our guest Jessica Lee to talk about the upcoming game, Mythos. Thanks for coming in, Jessica. JL: (Staring dumbfounded) B: (Unperturbed) Great! So, what can you tell me about your role in Mythos? JL: (Attempting to recover, putting on a far-too-wide smile) Haha... ladies and gentlemen, introducing B - one of the main cast from the upcoming game Mythos! B: "One of the main cast," she says! Girl, I am Mythos! The game wouldn't exist without me, ya know! JL:…
- Mythos Character Interview - Sophia! - 1 June 2025
Jessica Lee: No! He really said that?! Sophia: It is true! The eulogy was actually pretty funny, at times! Stage Manager: And we’re live in five… four… three… JL: Good evening, Baltimore! Tonight we continue our weekly interviews with the cast of the upcoming game Mythos. Our guest today is Miss Sophia… erm… S: Just Sophia is fine. Thank you for having me, Jessica Lee. I hope your time with me will be found more enjoyable than when Tara Norwood was here. JL: (Strained laughter) Oh… she was a handful! But let’s talk about you, Sophia! What role do you play in Mythos? S: Well, to hear others describe it, I am to be “the brainy one.” In short, I am present to provide crucial knowledge to others when such a time becomes pertinent. But really, I am just a normal person that works at an electronics store. JL: CyberDaze, right? Oh, yes, it says so on your shirt. S: That is correct! I decided t…
