- STABILITY PATCH 3.3.4 - 14 July 2026
Last update we made some major changes to PCE's codebase, completely refactoring how user items are loaded and moving to a newer type of server configuration. We tested these changes thoroughly before the update went live, but unfortunately still encountered some unexpected issues. We're deeply sorry for the connection problems people have been experiencing since the update went live and hope that today's patch addresses the number one issue:SERVER STABILITY Our programmers have been working flat out to fix problems with PCE's game servers. Reverting the whole game to an earlier patch would have caused even more problems, so instead they had to surgically add a fallback solution that used the original netcode setup. The most common issue was players getting stuck or disconnected when a server rotated to a new map. For matches made using Host Game we actually managed to resolve this comp…

Our development team is less than 5 people at present, we mostly work on Primal Carnage as a passion project outside of our day jobs... Update 3.3 brings numerous fixes and improvements to maps, ported from the upcoming PlayStation version. There have been many visual and sound updates, plus further game-wide optimizations. As part of getting PCE running better on PlayStation, we've been modifying everything to be more efficient, updating shaders and textures across the board. You may notice some skin icons being slightly lower resolution, this is because they are always-loaded taking up memory. This process is always longer than simply updating the game itself, so it may take a few hours for most of them to pop back online.UPDATE HIGHLIGHTSThis patch makes a number of balance changes based on your community feedback. After the last patch some adjustments have been rolled back with different tweaks taking their place, such as sniper rifle fire rate being reverted but with changes to accuracy this time. Firstly, the dart pistol no longer provides brief invulnerability, instead it's now focusedp purely on healing. The quasi-godmode it gave humans before was just not fun to play against in the end.A bigger change is that all shotguns have a new hit detection system. This works by guaranteeing a minimum amount of damage depending on how many pellets hit, effectively rounding up to be a bit more generous. It features no new six foot turkeys.UPDATE HIGHLIGHTSThis patch we made a few minor balance changes to human weapons based on what we'd observed lately. Bigger adjustments are still on the way such as the shotgun overhaul, but for now we're mostly occupied with launching the new PlayStation version so only minor changes are being pushed to live.One small but notable tweak is there's now no chance of escaping a bear trap. If you touch it, it's on you. Previously there was a possibility you wouldn't get trapped if you ran over it fast enough. This ultimately just led to confusion and the bear traps not being very effective.
