- A new game about a medieval inquisitor - 8 April 2026
Since the end of 2025, I’ve been developing a game about a medieval inquisitor. A lot of time was taken up finishing The Succession of Changing Kings, so progress was slow, but now I’m fully focused on this new project. Tentatively, it should be released in November and it will launch directly as a full release, without early access. The year is 1492. You are an inquisitor and, at the same time, an exorcist sent to the north of Spain to investigate a growing heresy.Take a look at the trailer we recently finished:You will have to conduct investigations, hear confessions, and send people to interrogation… and to the stake. Your mistakes will cost you your relationships with parishioners or the Church, and if those relationships drop to a critical level, you will meet an unfortunate fate (something you may already be familiar with from The Succession of Changing Kings). And of course, you’ll…

- The First Week After Release Is Over: Time to Sum Up the Results! - 11 March 2026
The first week after the release of The Succession of Changing Kings has come to an end, and I would like to summarize the results, share some plans with you, and hear your thoughts on a few things.About the numbersOver the past week, Steam showed The Succession of Changing Kings more than 4.4 million times, and 121000 users visited the game’s page. That is a lot - far more than I expected even in my boldest fantasies. In this single week alone, the game was installed more than 3000 times on Steam, and total sales since Early Access have exceeded 11000 copies. The game also still has about 27000 wishlists (+6500 net during the week).A little about meI am 35 years old. I was born in Russia, but I have been living in northern Spain, in Asturias, for quite some time. I am not a professional developer, and this is my first game. My work has always involved a lot of writing: I taught at MGIM…
- The Succession of Changing Kings leaves Early Access today, March 4. - 4 March 2026
The time has come to part ways with Early Access. As a longtime player myself, I understand why Early Access often causes frustration and distrust. But in the case of The Succession of Changing Kings, it ultimately benefited the game:Acts II, III, and IV have now been completed. In the end, the game features more than the promised 80 deaths and over 800 events and quests. The Succession of Changing Kings now has two wonderful original voice-overs: one in Russian by narrator Sergey Mayskiy and one in English by Wolenard. And the songs he performs, just listen to them! The save system, which had caused frustration for many players, has been redesigned. The game now includes three difficulty levels, and a lot of work has been done to balance the gameplay.Across the four acts, the game contains about 4.5 million characters of text. Of course, there were plenty of typos... My tiny publishing hou…

- Issue with the game epilogue - 3 February 2026
For some players, after reaching turn 100, not all epilogue videos that show the further fate of the characters are displayed. Depending on the decisions made, there can be between 13 and 17 such videos. These scenes reveal what happened to the key characters: Lynn, all faction advisors, the investigator, your spouse, and several others. If even one of them is missing from the epilogue, this is a bug. Most likely, the issue is caused by the save file being too old. New players and fresh playthroughs do not encounter this problem. I am currently looking for possible solutions and have an idea involving save file migration. If you have experienced this issue, please leave a comment and indicate the month when you started your current playthrough.
- The final Act IV of The Succession of Changing Kings has been released - 31 January 2026
Citizens of Valendor! The final Act IV of The Succession of Changing Kings has been released. The full game is now available; however, as I mentioned in my previous post, I am not rushing to press the “Leave Early Access” button.Over the next 2–3 weeks, I will be collecting your feedback on typos, bugs, any issues you encounter, as well as your suggestions. Please note the following:In the Russian and English versions, only “Voiceover 2” is currently available, which means machine-generated voiceover. The voice actors are actively working, and an update with the familiar voices of Sergey Maisky and Wolenard will be released soon.Unfortunately, the Korean language for Act IV is not ready yet. - 3 Days Until Act IV Release: Project Plans - 27 January 2026
On January 31, the final Act IV of the game will be released. You will finally stop being a dauphin and become a full-fledged king. Of course, on your way to the throne, you will die many times. Many, many times. That said, on January 31 I will not press the button to leave Early Access. As usual, for the first 2- 3 weeks I will be collecting your feedback and comments. No matter how thoroughly I test the game on my own, typos, bugs, and logical inconsistencies always come up. So if you do not want to become an unwitting beta tester, it is better to jump into the game around February 15. But if you do want to help hunt for issues, you are welcome to take the throne on January 31.About translations. For each language there is a translator and a separate proofreading stage, but this process progresses very unevenly across languages. Proofreading is still ongoing, especially for Korean, as…
- The Succession of Changing Kings in Chris Zukowski’s Best Games of 2025 - 22 January 2026
Hi everyone! Are you waiting for Act IV? There’s not much time left. In the meantime, let me brag just a little. In the US, there is a very well-known figure in Steam marketing, Chris Zukowski. You can often see him as a guest expert on major GameDev channels, and he also runs HowToMarketAGame, a website considered a must-read for English-speaking developers.Recently, Chris published his list of the best games of 2025. And yes, drumroll please. The Succession of Changing Kings made that list. For such a small indie studio, this is a huge vote of confidence. In the next few days, I will also publish a separate post about my plans for The Succession of Changing Kings after release. Development will not stop once the game is out, even though I am already working on two more projects.
- Release Date of Act IV and Year-End Summary - 19 December 2025
In Valendor, the main celebration is approaching, the winter solstice, also known as the Night of Lumen, which means it’s time to sum things up and make a few announcements, both big and small.First of all, I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make The Succession of Changing Kings better. You praised it, criticized it, found bugs, and suggested improvements… and yes, I especially enjoy it when you praise it! ːsteamhappyːAll of this has resulted in an 88% rating with over 330 reviews and around 8000 players. Another 21000 wishlists are likely waiting for the game’s full release. For me, this is a result cleaner than even the most profitable deal with Tenebris himself. I hope to continue living up to your trust.Second, I’m happy to officially announce the release date of Act IV, January 31, 2026. I originally wanted to align it with February 10, the date the game…
