- Roadmap Update - 20 November 2025
1 YearToday marks a year since the release of Ultra Cop.I want to thank you guys for giving my jank ass small game a chance, and hope it has been a fun experience. From one player to another, I sincerely thank you all for playing! Very grateful for the whole thing, especially with how obscure my stuff is. You guys are the real ones ːsteamthumbsupːThat being said, what follows is probably not going to sit well with everyone. This is a long, messy update, but I really believe it needs to be done.Hopefully you guys understand where I'm coming from. You already know what you're in for if you've been here a while.Amateur hour to the very end!Roadmap TLDRLess than a year ago I outlined what I thought the roadmap could look like:Ultra Cop received quite a few notable updates, namely new weapons, enemies and vehicles, as well as quality of life updates. New content would be added laterSaturn's Gaz…
- Patch 1.019 - 9 June 2025
Hey guysIt's been a little while, decided to post a quick update.Mostly to prove I'm still alive and haven't walked away indefinitely.I wouldn't abandon any games I've released, ain't about that life.So if there's ever any radio silence for some time then something's probably wrong lolChangelog:Added the option to have non-gibbed enemy bodies stayAdded the option to have non-gibbed human enemies always ragdollIt's not a huge one, granted, but there were requests for these so why not?Updates and shitUltra Cop ContentApologies for how long the big updates are taking.I know you guys have WAY better stuff to be doing anyways, and no one's sitting around waiting for Ultra Cop updates, but I feel guilty for not keeping you guys in the loop. The way I do level creation takes an ungodly amount of time, my fault obviously, but it looks better that way in the end. I'm gonna release the first 2 of…
- Patch 1.018 - Weapon Update 2 - 27 April 2025
Hey guys This patch added four extra weapons and some fixes/changes. Changelog: Added M3 Shotgun Added Jumbo Shotgun Added GL 40 Grenade Launcher Added Explosive Crossbow Rebalanced USAS Shotgun Fixed Weapons visibility glitch Increased Tank projectile damage Reduced Clone tank hitpoint amount in Mission 2 Attempted to improve resolution reset code I was going to wait until the levels update to add the new weapons, but thought it might be better to release incremental broken updates instead of one big broken update. It's not quite this lol These new weapons are probably an acquired taste and not as all round useful as the other hitscan ones, but hope it can add some fun into the mix. I'm more than open to rebalancing them if you guys have any issues. Also there will be other smaller updates in between to fix stuff I've likely broken along the way. Again I apologize for the long wait, my…
- Patch 1.017 - Small Fixes - 22 March 2025
Hey guys Quick update to address (attempts to at least) some stupid issues that I missed or caused. Changelog: Attempted to fix resolution resetting bug within Windowed Mode Added a Resolution scaler in the Video Settings to reduce perceived resolution Removed forced internal Anti-Aliasing unless it is toggled in Video Settings Fixed particle effects on Support Enemies Increased Sparks incendiary weapon chance to set enemies on fire (33% likely now) Fixed Sparks off-center aiming to shoot where crosshair is pointing The resolution reset problem was a pain to circumvent. This bug has been with Unity for a VERY long time, from what I can tell. I used a very hacky solution to force the engine to respect the selected Resolution when in Windowed mode. It works, but it's not pretty. If you wanted to break the game by messing with the setting and view modes, you most likely could. I never inte…
- Patch 1.016 - Weapons Update - 19 March 2025
Hey guys Sorry for the delay, I have uploaded a janky update to add 4 new weapons to choose from and some other minor stuff. Changelog: Added Dual Auto Pistols Added Dual Machine Pistols Added a Precision Rifle Added a Projectile Machine Gun Reduced particles on Mission 4 to improve performance Added the ability to toggle friendly/enemy unit boxes The Dual weapons are fast firing, the precision rifle can blow off heads, and the projectile machine gun shoots incendiary bullets that have a chance of setting enemies on fire sometimes. The new toggle is located in the User Interface Menu, and you change it without restarting the level. I've been working on the new levels on and off, me hopes it won't take too long. Also the fix for Windowed mode resolution shenanigans will be the next minor update, probably. I trust all is well, and enjoy the rest of your week ːsteamthumbsupː - JG https://w…
- Patch 1.015 - Difficulty Update - 13 February 2025
Ayo boyoz Here is the promised Difficulty update with extra stuff included. Some smaller updates will come out after this and before the Maps/Modes update. Changelog: Added a Difficulty Settings menu Added 2 new enemy support units Added 2 Experimental Vehicles Reduced Mission 3 Airship health from 1000 to 400 Added a laser pointer to the Mission 3 Airship to better show current target The next update will be adding more weapons while also fixing some issues, such as the Windowed mode issue not saving your resolution. I just wanted to get this out in the meantime because it's been a while since the last update. Went through some gnarly shit the past month so I'm just grateful to be here at least lol. Difficulty Update The Difficulty Settings menu works like a mutator where you can toggle various values, thanks to Tarama for the suggestion. These will change things like AI accuracy and r…
- Patch 1.014 - Sound Fix - 13 January 2025
Yo boyz Changelog: Re-added missing Hostage beeping bomb sound Re-added missing Terrorist beeping bomb sound I have zero clue why the sounds were missing. Remember assigning them somewhere at the end of last year. Not sure why this happened, hope it's not my NVMe acting up and straight up deleting blocks. Might need to procure backup storage just in case. The difficulty update is going smoothly (so far) and i'm modeling/texturing the new units. Will attempt to add more homages to Robocop, specifically the second movie. I'll remind you guys, if you decided to play this you pretty much signed up for amateur hour, 24/7. Peace bro's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdy_qU3WTaU
- Patch 1.013 - 8 January 2025
Hey dudes This is a small update before the more significant updates that are to follow. I was ill on and off for the past three weeks (no strange orb or fog here lol) and this update is a simple way to get the ball rolling again, and it's proof of life. Changelog: Mech can now "sprint" Mines health decreased to 1 hit point Heavy Machine Gun accuracy increased Submachine Gun accuracy increased, damage decreased by 1 Improved Weapon Case choice detection The biggest change here is that the Mech can now move faster by holding the sprint button. It looks a bit silly, but you guys wanted it and I'm happy to oblige. Content Pipeline I'm going to break the content update up into smaller, more manageable pieces. This will make it easier to iterate and fix anything that comes with it as a by-product. Here is how I'm going to approach it: Difficulty Update - Menu with options to customize you ga…
- Patch 1.012 - Temporary Difficulty Balance - 18 December 2024
Hey guys Changelog: Changed health and armour pickups to refill completely, instead of 25% Changed repair pickups to refill 50% of the Mech and 100% of the Riot car Fixed Vehicle health bars updating after being destroyed Halved shotgun spread, so it's much more accurate over a distance Some of you guys mentioned the game being too hard, so this update is a temporary remedy until the Difficulty settings are implemented. Think it might be better for me to add this feature early next year, instead of waiting for the Content update to be finished. If you thought this game was hard, this will hopefully give you a better experience. If you thought it was too easy, well, now it's probably a cake walk. Enjoy. Have a good holiday my dudes. - JG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PLYe-peO78
- Patch 1.011 - 9 December 2024
Ayo muh boyzzz I heard you like updates Changelog: Added a Vehicle Repair pickup Added a User Interface settings page where you can change the HUD's transparency Re-enabled the dead and buried Sprint functionality You can now collect/hoover up all Pickups with the Vehicles You can now repair the vehicles with the orange gear pickup. It will restore the Mech with a quarter of its health, and restore the Riot car with half its health. There are two in each level, but you're gonna have to find them yourself :) You can also change the various HUD contents' opacity/transparency. Hope it looks alright. The sprint is jank, which is why it wasn't in the release version. It's still jank but there was a request for it, so bask in the amateurishness. Sorry for the delay, this update was a pain in the ass. I did it as best as i could, but please let me know if anything is busted or not functioning…
- Content Roadmap - 2 December 2024
Hey guys Just a quick summary as to what the "plans" are going forward if any of you are interested. The idea is to work on both Ultra Cop content and the next game thing i planned a while back, and will switch between them occasionally to reduce the chance of burnout/fatigue. Really want to improve my output in 2025 going forward. Will obviously keep fixing any bugs in the meantime too ːsteamthumbsupː The original roadmap i posted on CARNAL's page was as follows: Ultra Cop (2024) Saturn's Gaze (2025) Unnamed Car combat game (2025?) CARNAL: Reborn, a free remaster update (2026?) These things are not concrete obviously, as i'm just one dude and life can sometimes throw curve balls at your face. But that is the longish term plan so far. Ultra Cop Content I've started to make new content for Ultra Cop, and when it's finished it'll be added as a free update. A lot of you asked for more leve…
- Patch 1.010 - 1 December 2024
Hey guys Quick patch to add some changes and quality of life stuff Changelog: Added Jump sounds Added beeping sounds to suicide bomber enemy vests Added beeping sounds to Hostage babe cages Reduced machinegun and minigun turret health (too spongy) Reduced enemy metal shield health Corrected a spelling error on Mission 4 billboard Boosted friendly AI health slightly Increased rocket launcher splash damage range (be careful lol) These are mostly cosmetic and QoL changes. I will be posting a short roadmap update a bit after this to give you guys an idea of what the next steps will be for this game and other stuff, if you guys are interested. Thanks for sticking with this fire hazard, glad you guys had fun so far ːsteamthumbsupː Cheers - JG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VJHe02pTNY
- Patch 1.009 - JUMPS - 28 November 2024
Hey guys Quick patch to address the damn jump and input related issues, again. Changelog: Completely reworked the Jump and general Input systems for the game Added an Aim Toggle in the Settings Menu Had to go read up some vague shit on Unity's websites to figure out what is causing the retarded input lag. Based on this i tried to figure out some hacky method of having the game run on stupidly high frames while also respecting the players inputs. I don't know 100% if shits fixed now, but i at least tried to emulate having 200+ frames and could iteratively get it to work right on my end. Please let me know if it still doesn't work, cause that would really make my day
- Patch 1.008 - Jumpin' Jacks - 26 November 2024
Hey guys Another day, another update. I make broken games and make even more broken updates. Here is a new cooked update fresh from the jank oven lol. Changelog: Redone Jumping code to offset the issues with the double jump Added an aiming sensitivity slider in the System Settings Added more sounds to audio mixers Improved tarp wall collisions on Mission 2 Screamed into a pillow The issue with how jumping works in the game is still weird and the game is still locked to internally run its code at 60 fps, even though you cool guys own super graphics cards/monitors that try to render the game at 1000 fps, causing Unity to shit the bed. Because of this graphics driver related issue, i reworked the code responsible for calculating the double jumping mechanic. It's simplified and much less fussy about what conditions need to be met. Can't promise that it's completely fixed, but hope remains i…
- Patch 1.007 - 24 November 2024
Hey guys I removed the Refresh Rate slider. Seems it did make things worse. I reverted the game back to its old 60 fps self. The only way to have stable performance and no-lag input is to set the game in your graphics driver to run at 60 fps, if you are someone with a higher refresh rate monitor that is. For most people i believe this will be no issue. Sorry for the inconvenience, it seems i'm not quite done with this issue. Unsure if this is a Unity thing, or a Nvidia/AMD thing. Will look out for possible fixes. Also i added more sounds to the mixers. I'm certain there are more but there are a gajillion sound making things and just when i think i got them all, more pop up. I hate it here :D Hope you dudes had a good weekend at least ːsteamthumbsupː
- Patch 1.006 - 24 November 2024
Hey guys I have tried to fix a bunch of stuff you all mentioned, so here is a quick rundown of said possible fixes. Changelog: Added a refresh rate slider in the Video Settings screen* Changed Main menu music to loop Added more sounds to mixers so that they will be affected by audio settings Added two special ammo pickups to the starting tunnel of Mission 1, because I couldn't get the camera to behave and point in the right direction. Fixed a collision issue on Mission 4. Added fire and smoke to player vehicles when they reach quarter health. Changed vehicle health bars to change colour depending on damage (green, yellow, orange, red). Added a burning flare that creates smoke to signal where the extraction box is located after objectives are completed. Added controller support fixes to the main menu and mission select screen. Attempted to have the game save your best stats per mission a…
- Patch 1.005 - 20 November 2024
Hey guys Here is another small update aimed at fixing some issues that you guys have mentioned (thanks for helping out!) Changelog: Added a mouse lock to keep the cursor inside the game window, hopefully helping those using multiple monitors. Changed the way jumping is activated, so now you can hold the button to jump the moment you land, like how it worked in CARNAL. Changed the collisions on the tarped fences in the 2nd mission, so you can shoot through them. Only those within the mission bounds though. Changed SMG stats. Increased damage, increased bullet spread and increased ammo capacity Changed Battle Rifle stats. Decreased bullet spread, decreased ammo capacity. Slightly decreased Heavy Machinegun's bullet spread. Changed colour of the Special Ammo pickup to better differentiate them from normal ammo. Quick note there is no limit to reload/ammo capacity for any weapons, even the…
- Patch 1.004 - 20 November 2024
Hey guys! I have attempted to fix the unresponsive jumping some of you guys have experienced. I admit i'm not exactly having this same issue, but i'm sure there's more variables to this specific quirk. Changelog: Made all input checks independent from framerate Made all player collision and ground checks independent from framerate A very real problem is that i've been working on this game for so long that i just got used to the jank. If this issue is not solved with the above mentioned remedies, please explain to me exactly what is happening on your end and what your specs/refresh rate is, cause it might have something to do with hardware related stuff and i'm just too stupid to realize what the real culprit is. Also just to clarify there is a double jump mechanic in the game. I realize only now that i really didn't make it obvious for any new players, so just to explain: When the playe…
- Ultra Cop - Releases 20 November - 19 November 2024
Hey guys Ultra Cop is releasing tomorrow the 20th, midnight South African time. It's finally finished, or at least I hope it is lol I really, really want you guys to have as much info available to you before you maybe decide to try out Ultra Cop, as it's quite a bit different from CARNAL in terms of design and style. This is a budget game made with no budget. The last thing I want is for anyone to feel like they got something they didn't sign up for, or that they feel ripped off in any way. What follows here is a quick recap of the game and its scope: What Should I Expect? In my mind I was making a game that could have been a launch title for the Sega Dreamcast, aesthetically and tech wise. Imagine a Y2K era arcade experience where you play for 15-30 minutes, and then go on with your day. A stress reliever with bite lol. This is an unserious game that could have fit on a demo disc that…
