Last night I decided to download 2013's DmC: Devil May Cry, one of my favorite action-adventure games ever made. Reviewing South of Midnight whet my appetite for more hacking and slashing, so why not revisit the series that introduced me to the genre - the anime literally just dropped, can you blame me? But, while DmC controversially remains my favorite of the series, Devil May Cry 5 has seen its player count spike overnight, likely a result of the fact that it's currently the same price as the coffee and cake I just ordered for lunch. Devil May Cry is a core video game series for many of us, allowing us to experience the forefront of battles against demonic hordes as Dante, a demon hunter looking to avenge his mother's murder by destroying the evil creatures. If you've played through the series yourself, then you also probably agree that Devil May Cry would make an incredible anime. Hey you! Stop ogling those Fallout 4 videos and have a butcher's at this new trailer for Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. I've oft heard that DMC4 has a pretty spectacular battle system, and it's embiggened in this new version with three new playable characters: Trish from DMC2, Dante's brother Vergil, and a lady named Lady. DMC4 is the one where you start out by playing as a Dante knockoff named Nero, before you switch back to Dante and have to traipse through the first levels of the game again. It's coming to PC June 23rd, and it's already on Steam if you want to look at it in advance. In addition to those three new characters, DMC4SE adds a new mode, Dark Knight, and makes "small adjustments" to "improve the gameplay tempo", which sounds like a fine thing to be doing to any game.
