  • Changes during the development process - 30 March 2026

As the game evolved, so did this location. What was once a simpler version of the beach area gradually transformed into something much more atmospheric and expressive. The lighthouse was redesigned, the overall composition of the shoreline was reworked, and the lighting and sky were pushed toward a darker, more mysterious tone and whole scene became more foggy. These changes may seem subtle at first glance, but together they give the location a much stronger sense of identity, mood, and narrative presence.

  • Realism in Games — Do We Even Need It? - 1 April 2025

The word "realism" in the gaming industry has become more of a marketing buzzword than a unique feature of a particular game. "Realistic physics," "realistic weapon behavior," "realistic character movement" — it’s hard to name a developer who hasn’t used these phrases to describe their game. But realism often causes more problems than benefits — let’s break it down with some examples. Take the well-known shooter Escape from Tarkov. The word "realism" is practically synonymous with this project. It sounds great in theory, but in practice, two magazines of standard AK ammo physically can’t penetrate class 5 armor, there are tons of bugs, server instability (partly due to the game being overloaded with mechanics), and of course, the never-ending status of closed beta testing. On the other hand, we have games like Squad or Arma, which aim to bring realism to just one specific aspect — the e…

  • Our technologies: why we using Nanite - 26 March 2025

Unreal Engine 5 provides an enormous range of tools for creating detailed and, most importantly, beautiful environments. Our team is made up of gamer-enthusiasts who have played through dozens of horror games, and most of them shared a common issue – the graphics. We fondly remember the good old Unity projects, like Slenderman or Phasmophobia, but these games scare more with simple jump scares than with an overall atmosphere. Unfortunately, the low level of detail doesn't allow players to fully experience the fear of being alone in a dark forest with the unknown or the anxiety of walking through a haunted house with a ghost. UNgames prioritizes the following goal: to create a project that will scare at all levels. And, to achieve this goal, we use the most advanced technologies, one of which we would like to tell and show you. Nanite – a technology that is at the core of the Unreal Engi…
