- Nothing Beyond This Point v1.1: Hammer - 6 September 2026
Hello everyone!Apologies for the long silence, I got distracted with life and such. This update is not exactly a six-month-work update. But it does have something worth checking out: several new holdables, and a new big boss!If all you have is a hammer...Added: a new boss! Oh boy...Where is she? Simple: in the only area previously without a boss...The Eclipse will give you a good hint if you have 100% completion!Otherwise, beat any of the other three secret bosses, and re-check their rooms...She's very difficult with no real reward, but it should be a fun challenge and a banger song. Good luck!Added: three new holdables!Plant Pot: get some weak Snappers for free fuelTiny Statue: freeze enemies, but summon a Void StormRune Bomb: create an all-damaging field for a bitRaamaa joins the Spire?Unrelated, but if you are a Slay the Spire player, be aware that I turned the inferno into a charact…
- NBTP v1.0.4 - 9 May 2026
Hello!Nothing major today. A small patch fixing some minor things. It also adds some new achievements and reworked Defract to make it less overpowered.Important changesAdded three new achievements, connected to the secret bosses!People are finding them and they are cool! So I do want to add a bit of a reward. They are awarded retroactively. Simply hit a campfire and it is done.Hm, there's also a fourth achievement? Must be some sort of mistake...Reworked Defract!Defract no longer lets you move while Refueling. It was simply far too powerful.Instead, Defract has a 10% chance to randomize your regained Rod(s).To offset the loss of movement, it's also slightly faster now: 50 ms for Refuel, 85 -> 75 ms for Defract.BalancingBuffed: Final Curser's Curse duration 5 -> 8 secondsThat's it. The game is perfectly balanced forever and nothing will ever change. Surely.FixesWith Easy Directions on, in…
- NBTP v1.0.3 - 10 April 2026
Gday!As the game progresses, less and less bugs are found, so it's time to make some balance changes. Some more impactful ones. The ones you can feel. Please send your correspondence to my Discord server. Cheers!Important changesI am tired of nobody figuring out the very, very obvious Trick fight. Seriously, it's not that hard people, there's an entire area leading up to it! So - I made some changes, out of pure spite. If you have either Easy Saves or Easy Directions on, the game will now give a very, VERY obvious hint in the room before the fight. Also, if you take longer than 10 minutes in the fight, you instantly lose. Good luck! The first Gem Pile will now always show both Secondary upgrades (if available). This is to give you an extra reason to learn to use it, and to immediately teach you that each ability has two upgrade "paths".Added new setting in main menu: Save on Teleport. Usefu…
- The Second Patch - 2 April 2026
Infernoes!!More people are picking up the game. I could not be happier. Yet, the game could be better. Here is a patch to address some common issues I'm seeing.GeneralAdded more functionality to Easy Directions and Easy Saves. As a reminder, if you have trouble navigating or if you die often, turn these on at the Obelisk!Easy Directions now lets you see your own location even in unmapped areas.Easy Saves now lets you teleport from the Obelisk, any time after getting your first Sigil.Getting your abilities in the tutorial now plays a sound effect. When getting into A Vision Of Fire, you will not be able to leave until you've talked to Raimor. There is no puzzle there, literally just shoot fireballs at the pillars. Please do not resist.Changed the hint quality of the post-Design direction. Basically, I want players to be more directed towards the Trench rather than the Hideout. Hideout is…
- The First Patch - 27 March 2026
Greetings, Infernoes! Or Embers, or Blazes, or Fireflies...First off, massive Thank You! to everyone playing. Reception so far seems to be positive. Be sure to tell other users via a Steam Review - but I won't bother you with it too much, take your time to beat the game first!I've been monitoring issues, and happy to report that there aren't many! And no big ones like obvious softlocks or frequent crashes. That's excellent! But there's still some minor things to fix. There always are. And this patch does just that. Nothing fundamental, just a bit of polish.I'm taking it easy right now, but any feedback is always welcomed. You know where to find me. Good luck!GeneralSlightly improved onboarding (shuffled some tutorial text around)Added first-time message when the Dawn starts healingAdded first-time message for trying to heal while cursedAdded small visual/SFX for insta-tracing Runes (yes…
- Nothing Beyond This Point is OUT NOW! - 24 March 2026
The Void beckons!Nothing Beyond This Point, the strange Metroidvania with infinite regeneration, spending health as damage, and navigation instead of platforming... It's out. It has launched. Go get it, it's great and very affordable and definitely not terrifying!Couple of notes:Tip: play aggressively. Don't let enemies heal or live for long. There's no contact damage and infinite regeneration, so going ham is encouraged. Fireballs, fireballs!Demo data carries over! This is normal. You may delete your file if you wish, it should work either way.Controller is still fully supported, but keyboard and mouse are recommended. All achievements can be obtained in your first playthrough, except for beating hard mode. So don't worry about missing anything crucial. Take your time. Remember you have a Voidlog...Instead, worry about missing the secret bosses that may or may not exist.Good luck! Pleas…
- Release has moved up! - 24 February 2026
Hi everyone!I'll keep it short. A LOT of Metroidvanias are releasing on March 31st/April 1st (Nemo, Grime 2, Tombwater, Legacy of Kain...), and I don't want my little game to be in that chaotic cluster. So, fairly last-minute, I've decided to move my release date....to a week earlier.New release date is March 25th! Or March 24th if you're anywhere outside of Australia, which is most of you. That should give you enough time to play and beat the game before you start any of the wonderful games of my fellow Metroidvania developers.Looking forward to it!- Dieuwt
- Progress update, and release date! - 17 December 2025
Hey everyone! The development cycle of Nothing Beyond This Point is coming to an end, and it only seems fair to give an update on some things.Full ScopeThe game is almost finished! In total there will be 16 areas, 12 bosses (although I may have miscounted?), 4 endings, and a bunch of secrets big and small. All that's left on my end is the final boss and main ending. We're getting there. Final boss takes a while, to nobody's surprise, but he's well on his way to becoming great. And also really big.The end is near.Apart from the final boss, my main focus right now is polishing everything up. Fixing bugs and crashes, adding particles and effects, removing unnecessary things. Everything must be up to code, whatever that code is. There's always going to be issues to work out, pre- and post-release, I just want to find as much as possible so release date won't fall flat on its face....ugh, do…
- Progress update! - 6 August 2025
Hey everyone!Work on Nothing Beyond This Point has been ongoing for a while now, but I haven't made any posts in a while! That seems wrong. I should make a post in the form of a progress update! And here we are.An Area AoverviewThere's 16 areas planned for NBTP, and of those, 13 are completely done right now! The 14th one is in progress, but it's gonna take a bit longer than most, considering its gimmick is quite... special. Honestly, it's worth playing the game for the 14th area alone.Things that you can look out for now also include, but are absolutely not limited to:A big fancy puzzle!Obelisk 2.0, now with less corruption!Burnable flags!Killer bosses!Eyes.Eyes? What's with the eyes, anyway? ...It's probably fine.I'm constantly going back through areas and improving things. More item animations, additional decoration, improved layouts, and so on. The bigger a game is, the longer it tak…
- 1000 wishlists!! - 19 May 2025
Hi everyone! Today, Nothing Beyond This Point hit 1000 wishlists on Steam! That's huge - especially for me, as it greatly helps with motivation and getting a wider reach. I thought I'd take this opportunity to provide a development update. In short: Out of 16 areas, 10 are currently complete. For reference, at demo launch a few month ago, there were 7. For the next months, I'll work on getting the game "content complete". Meaning you can play it start to finish. The rest of the time will be spent playtesting, balancing, fixing bugs/crashes, and promoting the game. Release date is still set to be early 2026. If you wishlist the game, you'll be notified the day of! I've determined that the price will be 5$ (5 EUR, 4.29 GDP, 7.50 AUD). Don't be fooled by its low price, it's still a fairly content-heavy and decently long game, but I want it to be accessible. If you haven't already, follow m…
- Thanks for playing the demo! - 4 March 2025
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for playing the demo of Nothing Beyond This Point. The game was flawless and absolutely no things will need to be addressed. Just kidding. It got a bunch of players, and there were quite a few issues - some expected, others coming out of nowhere. I will do my best to properly address all of them over time. Better now than at launch! But overall, the concept was well-liked and I'm happy. Therefore, I thought it'd be nice to give an overview of what will happen next. Better Tutorial The biggest problem was the tutorial area, which experienced a lot of player drop-off. With the path having two whole corners to navigate through, it was hard to know where to go next, and many players kept backtracking or going the same way over and over. Once you get to the Obelisk and get the map, it's all a lot clearer, but I need to communicate this better. To address it, I'…
- Nothing Beyond This Point demo live now! - 23 February 2025
Hi everyone! The demo is live, just in time for Next Fest. Give it a go, tell me what you think, and have fun. Report any bugs so I can fix them quickly, but of course hopefully there aren't any. Good luck and don't get lost!
- Nothing Beyond This Point: coming to Next Fest, February 2025! - 7 January 2025
Hi everyone! Great news: Nothing Beyond This Point is coming to Steam Next Fest in February 2025! The demo will release on February 24th, be sure to grab it and see what it's all about. Wow! I look great today. Nothing Beyond This Point is a unique take on the Metroidvania genre. You play as an entity made from pure fire, who uses Rods, Runes and Sigils to survive in the endless Void. Navigation is key, as the game will not easily tell you where to go, so pay attention to all the help that is available - waypoints, enemies, and helpful passerby's. Secrets are everywhere, so find them to become stronger and tackle increasingly powerful corrupted enemies. But don't be fooled: the Void is extremely empty, and wants you gone as well. The demo is quite expansive: three areas, a full boss, four items, and so on. You can freely explore and play with how your inferno fights, or just rush straig…
- An overview of Nothing Beyond This Point - 18 November 2024
Hi everyone! Dieuwt here. Progress on Nothing Beyond This Point (NBTP from now on) is going steady. I'm working on finishing the playable demo, which will release in Steam Next Fest in February 2025. In the meantime, I figured it'd be cool to give a preview of what to expect in the game. The Empty World NBPT takes place in the one and true Void. Unlike a bunch of other Voids out there, this place is quite... empty. It's slightly confusing to navigate (but don't worry! You can find maps somewhere), mostly completely dark, and things that roam in it, aren't your friend. Occasionally you'll run into something worth investigating, though, so keep your eyes open! Some runes, some Vaults, maybe a strange machine... You can (usually) run away from combat, but then you won't get to see what they do! And if they do something helpful, you better stick around to reap those benefits. The Image of R…
