  It's tough to pick a favorite of the broadcasts I've been receiving from Planet Blip. I'm partial to the rants delivered by Blinker, an artificial being who lives between channels and signs off with "All hail the new static!" I'm also into Quizzards, a combination quiz show/roleplaying game where contestants answer questions instead of rolling dice to find out how their fantasy alter egos perform, and Boredome, where real teens talk about the real issues of the day. • Version 1.0.2: Minor engine update - 6 October 2025

  This (very) minor update patches the UnityPlayer.dll library to address a known (but to-date unexploited) security issue. It has been recommended that all games made with Unity Engine issue this patch. No game code or content has been updated with this version. Microsoft Defender (on Windows) has already implemented additional protections for games that haven't been patched, and Valve has told Unity that it will also address the issue within the Steam client (on all platforms), so the current practical risk to users is minimal. That said, we recommended all users download and install this update.

• This game about channel surfing surreal alien broadcasts used to be exclusive to a 1-bit console with a crank—but now it's coming to Steam - 13 August 2025

  Playdate received an oddity called Blippo Plus earlier this year. It turns the handheld console into a strange little television, so that twisting the crank feels akin to switching channels on an old analog TV dial. Sometimes you'll find a cryptic animation, or else a live action musical performance. Some channels show a mysteriously static logo, whereas others might feature a full-blown variety show. • Untitled Goose Game and Thank Goodness You’re Here! publishers are doing a thing and I’m not sure what the thing is but it seems like a cool thing - 12 December 2024

  I have to write at least 250 words for a news post. Rock Paper Shotgun’s CMS (content management system) even has a built-in widget that shouts at me if I don’t write at least 250 words. "Page 1 body content is quite short" it says if I go under. How cute is that "quite"? I love being fooled into getting charmed by automated systems via colloquial British understatement. Anyway, I bring this up because I honestly don’t have anything to add about Blippo+ . I just wanted to inform you all of its existence.
