- Field Notes: Week 7 – Sunday - 29 May 2025
They came at night… Those things... The way they moved, the way they screeched—it was like the forest itself had birthed them, shaped them to hunt us. I understand now. We were never going to make it back from the 5th. The forest knew. It always knew. It was waiting. Everyone’s gone. Anton, Louis... all of them. Bullets were useless. I’m the only one left. I can hear them—scratch, scratch, scratching at the door. It won’t hold much longer. Still have a few grenades. Maybe I can rig this place to blow, take these freaks with me. Stranger, if you find this, you have to get back to the Arc. Warn them about what’s coming. There’s no more time!
- Field Notes: Week 6 – Deep Recon - 21 May 2025
Rumors are going around. Something’s going on in the 5th arrondissement. What exactly, we aren’t sure. We captured a raconteur—barely more than a scavenger with a knife and a bad sense of timing. Under some “encouragement,” he told us the cultists are moving. Entire groups heading toward the 5th, chanting their prayers to the forest. Whatever’s going on, we need to know. And I drew the short straw, along with Anton and Louis. The task is simple, get there and report back anything that seems significant. The first few days were uneventful, but as we press deeper, things are getting…stranger. By the fourth day, we started noticing changes. The trees seem different, taller and more twisted. And then there’s the shadows. I thought I was psyching myself out. But Anton saw them too. Flickers of movement at the edge of our vision. Yet when we stopped to investigate, there was nothing. No track…

- Field Notes: Week 5 – Marauders - 14 May 2025
Patrolling solo is always a bad idea, but sometimes there’s no choice if we want to get enough coverage. I was near the Jardin des Plantes, keeping a low profile, when I heard them—voices, low and gruff. Raconteurs. I ducked into the undergrowth, gripping my rifle tight as I peeked through the leaves. There were four of them, armed with crude weapons: pipes, machetes, an old hunting rifle. They were laughing, passing around a bottle of something. They must’ve known I was there because as soon as I moved to slip away, one of them yelled, “Come out, mon ami! We just wanna talk.” I bolted. I made it maybe 15 yards before I stumbled into a dead end—a wall of gnarled roots rising too high to climb. I turned, rifle up, just as the first marauder burst through the brush. He grinned, teeth yellow and jagged, and raised his machete. “Nowhere to run,” he said, his buddies closing in behind him. H…
- Field Notes: Week 4 – Cultists - 7 May 2025
I’m more and more grateful I made it to the Arc. It offers some semblance of life, community. Without that, people get strange… We were on patrol when we saw them—a small group of three, barely more than silhouettes in the mist. They moved like they’d been out here a while, shoulders hunched, cautious but purposeful. I approached, hands up, keeping my rifle slung. Anton hung back, covering me. I told them we were from the Arc, that we had shelter and medicine. They turned to face us, their faces obscured by masks carved from wood or bone. “We’re fine where we are,” the leader said. A woman, maybe? Her voice was low, calm. “The forest provides.” I told them they were crazy, that they were going to die out here. But they couldn’t be convinced. That night on the Arc, we heard singing. Low and guttural, like a chant, echoing through the forest. Nobody slept.
- Field Notes: Week 3 – Finding Supplies - 30 April 2025
Life at the Arc is better than I thought it would be. The engineers have outdone themselves, rigging up a pulley system to move supplies—and people—to the top. It’s crude, loud, and far from perfect, but it works. The word must be spreading, because every day brings new survivors. We’ve gone from a handful of weary stragglers to something resembling a community. More hands to work, sure, but also more mouths to feed. That’s the trade-off: growth means risk, and risk means patrols. We’ve been combing the city, scavenging anything we can. Food, medicine, even just tools or scrap metal—it all has value. Most places have long since been picked clean, but if you’re willing to go deeper into the city, you can still find a few things. If you survive. Yesterday, we hit a block near Rue Coquillière. We checked an old boulangerie. The upstairs was barren—empty shelves, shattered glass, dust thick…
- Field Notes: Week 2 – Hunting - 23 April 2025
They sent me out on hunting detail with Gabriel and Anton—two guys I barely know, but out here, trust is a luxury we can’t wait to build. We broke camp at first light and headed north in search of boar. They’re easy to track, noisy and destructive, and travel in packs. By mid-morning, we found them. A small group rooting around near the Galeries Lafayette, their tusks scraping against the cracked stone. Their skin had a strange sheen to it, and some of them had moss growing along their backs. Everything here changes, even the animals. Gabriel volunteered to take the shot. He crouched low, moving silently through the long grass. Anton and I hung back to keep watch. The forest seemed calm for a moment—no snapping branches, no distant howls. Just the rustle of wind through the grass. Then Gabriel fired. The boar scattered, squealing, but something else happened, too. The grass he was crouc…
- Field Notes: Week 1 – Arrival - 16 April 2025
*These are recovered field notes found on the Citizens base. Unnamed survivor describes his exploration of the new world. No records on his personality have been ever found. You now have access to these papers, as they may drastically increase your chances for survival in the Forest. I made it. Somehow, against all odds, I made it. By the time I reached the Arc, I was exhausted, starving, and more than a little afraid. But the rumors were true: survivors are here. It’s not much yet, just some tents and makeshift barricades, but it’s something. A few of the newcomers have engineering experience, and they’re already talking about building a pulley system to haul supplies—and people—up to the top of the Arc. A crazy idea, but with the way the forest is at night, crazy might just keep us alive. It’s strange, being around people again. Sharing a fire, trading stories, even arguing over what…

- Remembering Viktor Antonov, our dear friend - 18 February 2025
All our team is deeply sad that our friend Viktor Antonov, has passed away. He was the visionary art director of Forest Reigns and helped us shape its unique style. Viktor's creative drive helped us break free from the limited post-Soviet way of seeing the world. He taught us to approach world-building with more artistry and imagination. His ideas were and will still be a huge part of the game. Though the loss is immense, Viktor’s creativity will live on in the worlds he helped create. And we’ll do our best to keep his style and vision alive in Forest Reigns.

- Forest Reigns in the Spotlight - 4 February 2025
Our new project has caught the eye of media outlets with its intriguing concept. Here’s what early impressions from the media have to say about our title: “Forest Reigns, a post-apocalyptic tale set in the heart of a devastated yet floral Paris, could be a game that unlocks more potential for an FPS genre that’s crying out for new directions. It could be one of the most unique FPS games on our radar right now.” – Forbes “We just got the first trailer for one of the most fascinating-looking games of 2025, and it’s already giving me strong Far Cry and The Last of Us vibes. Regardless of what you can draw comparisons to however, it looks absolutely beautiful.” – Gaming Bible “The encroaching forest is alive, and you'll see how the iconic sights of Paris have been reshaped by an aggressive Mother Nature. Survival crafting, a non-linear story, and a forest that can serve as both friend and f…
