- A Strategic Pause: The Plan to Fund the Future of Animas - 18 January 2026
Hello, Animas community. It has been a while since our last update, and we believe we owe you an honest explanation regarding the current state of the project. As you know, we are a team of just two brothers. The reception of the demo has been incredible (thank you for those 11k wishlists!), but the demo's success also highlighted technical issues that we cannot ignore if we want to deliver the quality game you deserve. Why have the updates stopped? If you have played the demo extensively, or read the forums, you know that Animas is not perfect. We have identified critical errors affecting the experience for some of you:Complete game freezes that appear to stem from a memory management issue (RAM leaks) that is difficult to trace.Audio system failures that cause sound to stop working entirely for some players. We have tried to fix these issues ourselves, but we have hit a technical wall. To…

- Prologue Update 0.6.1 - 23 October 2025
Hey everyone! We've just pushed a small update for the Prologue, focused mainly on quality-of-life improvements and a few technical tweaks based on what we've been seeing. Here’s what changed:New Graphics Options: More control! We've added settings for Resolution, Display Mode (fullscreen, windowed, etc.), VSync, and Brightness to the options menu.Lighting Tweak: We added subtle proximity lighting on walls and doors. This is to prevent those moments where you might get stuck looking at a pitch-black wall, unsure of where you were.Performance Adjustment: We disabled the "GPU Occlusion" setting. To be honest, it wasn't providing a real performance boost and was instead causing some annoying visual bugs for players with lower-end GPUs.On Feedback: We removed the "Feedback" button that appeared at the end of the demo. Now that the prologue is public, we'd rather centralize all the comments. I…
- Animas Prologue is now available! - 17 October 2025
The day is here! After months of hard work, nerves, and a lot of excitement, we are thrilled to announce that Animas: Prólogo is now available on Steam to download, completely free. It's been an incredible journey to get here, and we can't wait for you to finally step inside the Blanco family home. What is Animas Prologue? If you've just discovered us, welcome! We are developing “Animas,” our next full game: a first-person psychological horror title focused on exploration and environmental narrative, heavily inspired by Venezuelan folklore.Animas Prologue is the free demo we've released so you can try out this experience. In this prologue, you must explore an abandoned house in the Venezuelan mountains to uncover a tragic family history. It's important to note that Animas Prologue is a short, standalone story. What you play here serves as an introduction to the game's universe, but it wi…
- The Playtest is Open Again (And with a Save System!) - 11 October 2025
Hey everyone! We've been working hard these past few days to fix the bugs you've reported, and we're sorry we had to pause the playtest. We know that many people came looking for the game and found it closed, so we apologize for that. But we're happy to announce that, starting today, the playtest is open to everyone again. We want to be transparent: we are not 100% sure the issue is fixed. We've applied several changes and corrections after a deep evaluation of the project, but some testers are still experiencing problems. That's why we're reopening the playtest—to continue evaluating and to understand how widespread the issue still is.However, we've added a fundamental change in this new version: the save system is now functional! This means that even if you experience a crash, you'll be able to continue your game without losing all your progress. We hope this allows everyone to see the f…
- Playtest & Demo Date Update - 8 October 2025
Hey everyone! These last few weeks have been very intense for us. Almost 700 people have tried the Animas playtest, and about 100 of you have joined our Discord. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has dedicated their time to help us move this project forward. We're thrilled to see that the game is having a much more positive reception than we could have hoped for.But of course, with so many people testing the game, more issues have also surfaced. Although the first few days of the playtest seemed to go smoothly, over the last two weeks, we've been receiving a growing number of crash reports. It's frustrating to see a streamer try the game and have it crash after 20 minutes, as that can leave a very bad first impression. We've been evaluating and running tests to find the cause of this issue, and it seems to be quite a complex one that will take us at least a couple of days to reso…
- The day we've been waiting for is here! (And also the first Animas Playtest) - 4 September 2025
Hey everyone! The day the global gaming community has been eagerly awaiting is finally here. That's right, you guessed it: today marks the launch of the first-ever public Playtest for Animas! You can request access right now on our Steam page, and if all goes well, you'll get to explore the Blanco family home for the very first time. After months of intense work on this project, we're dying to share it and start hearing your first impressions. We know there's still a LONG way to go, but we feel that developing without player feedback is like working in the dark, and your eyes will help us find the way. What will you find in this Playtest? This test is a very early version of what will become "Animas: Prologue," a free, standalone chapter that we'll release later as a demo. This prologue tells a self-contained story that won't be in the final game, but it serves as the perfect introduction t…
- September Update: Giving Animas a Voice & A Playtest is Coming! - 2 September 2025
Hello everyone! This past month has been incredibly productive, and we're getting closer and closer to the release of the Animas demo. While we don't want to announce a specific date just yet—we want to make sure every detail is polished to perfection—we can tell you that it's just around the corner. In fact, September has probably been one of the months with the most significant progress since we started development. The most important and exciting milestone of the month was, without a doubt, recording the voice lines. It was a deeply satisfying process to see the story we wrote almost a year ago finally come to life through talented actors. We want the experience to be authentic in every sense, and that includes real human voices that convey every nuance of the horror we're building. Here’s a short behind-the-scenes look at the recording process:With the voices recorded and integrated, w…
- From the Animas workshop: A look at our July progress - 31 July 2025
Hello everyone! It's been a month since our last update, and we've been working non-stop on the Blanco family's house, filling every corner with the secrets and atmosphere that will make Animas a truly unsettling experience. We wanted to share a glimpse of what we've been up to.Building the atmosphere, detail by detail. One of our main goals this month has been to make steady progress on the game's prologue. We have already locked down the structure and progression for this first experience, and we can estimate that it will have an approximate length of 40 minutes. Right now, our focus is on the details: transforming the house from a simple set piece into another character in the story. We want those 40 minutes to be packed with content and clues that enrich the narrative, making sure that every object and every shadow has something to say.To achieve that authenticity, sometimes you have…
- What have we been up to? An Animas Dev Update - 30 June 2025
Hey everyone! It's been a while since we shared our announcement trailer, and first of all, we wanted to thank you. The truth is, the reception Animas received took us by surprise, in the best possible way. In these few months, thanks to you, we've surpassed 3000 wishlists, a milestone that has filled us with motivation and energy. While you were showing us your incredible support, we've been completely immersed in the Blanco family home. As we've progressed, we've realized something: the potential of this project is much greater than we had anticipated. Therefore, to do justice to the game you've shown us you want to see, we've made the decision to adjust our launch schedule for the full game. But the good news is that you won't have to wait that long to set foot in the house. Our immediate plan, where we are focusing all our efforts, is to release Animas: Prologue this year. It will b…
- Animas Now on Steam: A Psychological Horror Game Set in Venezuela - 11 March 2025
Greetings, Steam community! Today is a very special day for Apamate Studio, as we can finally present Animas, our new video game. Prepare to immerse yourself in a unique psychological horror experience set in the mysterious mountains of Venezuela. For those familiar with our work on Mechanophagia, let us share that Animas represents a new chapter for our studio. While Mechanophagia was our first project – born as a learning prototype and developed with great care over a year – with Animas, we wanted to explore different horizons. As a growing studio, we're excited to experiment and gradually define our identity as creators. With Animas, we set two main goals. First, to channel our prior artistic experience in film and animation into creating a game with a strong narrative and visual component. We leveraged our 3D modeling and animation expertise to build an immersive, unsettling atmosph…
