- 🎵 Discarded Music from Axe & Bow Land – Hear what didn’t make it into the game - 23 April 2025
Hello, adventurers! During the development of Axe & Bow Land, we created many music tracks to explore different atmospheres across the game’s worlds. Some of these melodies didn’t make it into the final version—not because they weren’t good, but because they drifted a bit from the style we were aiming for. Today, we’d like to share with you a special selection of discarded tracks, a part of the creative process behind our Aztec-flavored adventure. 🌀 Some are cheerful, others more peaceful—but all are part of the game’s hidden development story. Let us know which one you would have liked to hear in the game! Who knows… maybe one will return in a secret area or a future project. Thank you for joining us on this journey. More updates coming very soon! 🏹🪓 — The Axe & Bow Land Team
- Demo Update: Difficulty Tweaks and Gameplay Improvements - 4 April 2025
Developing a platformer with puzzles and action is no easy task, especially when it comes to finding the right balance in difficulty. It becomes even more challenging if you don’t have enough people to test the game and give you feedback. That’s why it took us a bit longer to realize that the demo could be too difficult for many players, especially considering current expectations. Once we saw that, we quickly got to work redesigning the demo to make it more accessible to a wider audience. We’ve significantly reduced the level of danger and the need for extreme precision to overcome obstacles. Now the experience is smoother and more enjoyable, without sacrificing the essence of the game. That said, the puzzle element remains intact. You’ll still need to think through your strategy to progress. So don’t expect an easy ride: finishing the demo will still be a real challenge.
- What do I like about the games that inspired me? - 26 March 2025
The games that inspired me to create Axe & Bow Land have many qualities I adore. In a previous post, I mentioned some of them, but today I want to dive deeper into what makes them so special to me. One of the most fascinating aspects is their innovative gameplay and unique mechanics. Bubble Bobble introduced a brilliant dynamic by allowing players to trap enemies in bubbles and use them as platforms to ascend. It also featured water streams that carried players along, adding more depth to movement. Its sequel, Rainbow Islands, took a completely different approach: the main attack became a parabolic rainbow shot that also served as a platform for climbing vertical levels. With practice, players could master techniques like double jumping by chaining rainbows, adding a wide variety of strategies. Later on, Parasol Stars introduced another interesting mechanic: collecting balls that moved…
- 🎵 Discover the unreleased remixes of Axe & Bow Land 🎶 - 17 March 2025
We are big fans of catchy melodies from games like Bubble Bobble or The New Zealand Story, and that inspiration led us to create the soundtrack for Axe & Bow Land. Some of the original compositions were created with more realistic instruments before being adapted to the final game style. That's why we decided to release this video to share these alternative versions with you. What do you think of these remixes? Do you like them more than the ones in the game? We’d love to hear your thoughts. We plan to keep sharing more music content in the future, so if you like this video, support us with a thumbs up. Don’t forget to download the demo and add Axe & Bow Land to your wishlist! Thank you so much!
- What games inspired me to make Axe & Bow Land? - 10 March 2025
The games that have inspired me the most in creating Axe & Bow Land are primarily Rainbow Islands, though SonSon has also influenced the gameplay and graphical style to a lesser extent. In terms of aesthetics, I would also cite games like Parasol Stars, Bubble Bobble Symphony, Adventure Island, and Alex Kidd in Miracle World, among others. Rainbow Islands is one of my top three arcade games, alongside Final Fight and the first Shock Troopers. It’s an incredible game with a concept that is not only original but also extremely fun when you fully understand its mechanics, allowing it to be played like no other game. With Axe & Bow Land, we aimed to capture that essence and create a similar experience, but with its own unique identity. For Bowie's levels, the archer, the initial inspiration was to design a gameplay style similar to SonSon by Capcom, but with vertical scrolling instead of ho…
