• V0.7 New Player Art - 12 January 2026

  A new more realistic human character has been added as the default character art but don't worry, you can still choose the original character if you prefer the more humorous looking character in the main game settings.Other changes include the ability to customize the appearance of players in the Workshop selection, choosing skin tones, (limited) hair / facial hair options and hair tones.The player characters default speed has also been increased by 10% to allow for a more frantic pace bringing it closer to the speed of games like Sensible Soccer.Note: Game Speed can be tweaked in the Setting screen giving options 70 - 110% so you can choose a game speed to your liking.

• Team Editor added in v0.6 - 4 August 2025

  An editor has now been added in v0.6 to allow you to add new teams or make a copy of existing team data so you can make changes and override it.This means you can change the names of players to reflect real names or even create entirely new teams from any year from 1960 to 202x such as Premier League, La Liga or you local pub teams.If you create something special then why not upload it to the Steam Workshop.Check out the guide for more details.GUIDEIf you have any queries then please head over the the Discussions are.DISCUSSIONS

• Foul Referee! - 20 May 2025

  V0.5 is here featuring the following: Referees with varying levels of harshness Yellow/Red Cards Injuries Suspensions and injuries causing players to miss games in tournaments AI substitutions These features can be turned off in the settings if you prefer a good dirty slide tackle to go unpunished. Most notable bug fix: Euro tournament bug fix when getting in to knockout stages causes issue.

• Fouls, Free Kicks and Penalties - 30 April 2025

  At last the first update is here and it brings fouls, free kicks and penalties along with a number of bug fixes. For the moment I try to establish when a foul has been committed by a slide tackle (ie the ball has not been won cleanly and the player wasn't wiped-out first) and then a referee pop-up will appear and a free-kick or penalty is awarded. Fouls can be turned off in the settings menu if you just want a free for all. Major Bug fix: Correct teams going through in cup competition when playing a 4 group to 8 team knock-out such as Euro 96. Next Update In the next update I will be introducing red & yellow cards which will impact cup & league tournaments that bit more and also add a referee style so that different refs may be more lenient than others and show this in the pre-match screen so you can tailor your playstyle accordingly.

• Retro Soccer is launching on March 17, 2025! - 10 March 2025

  Retro Soccer will launch on PC on March 17, 2025. From this initial Early Access release you get to compete in World Cups and Euros between 1986 and 1996 with 90's style game-play for quick slick passing action, plenty of dirty slide tackles, rasping curling shots and the odd diving header thrown in for good measure. Although this is EA the majority of the game-play elements are in place. The first update which I am actively working on now will include Fouls, Free Kicks, Penalties, Injuries, and Yellow & Red cards which can impact your tactics throughout a cup / league campaign. I'm listening to feedback on the forums so if you have any suggestions please drop by and leave a comment.

• Demo v0.1.26 released - 20 January 2025

  ]A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to get the first FULL release of Retro Soccer ready with all teams and players database for World Cups and Euros between 86 and 96 now complete. As part of the on going development I noticed a number of UI bugs which I fixed and also had a request to speed up the game-play to bring it more in line with the speed found in the classic Sensible Soccer for the Amiga. So included in the new Demo version... I have updated the Demo to include all bug fixes for UI and game-play along with the game-play speed increase. If its a little too much for you it can always be toned-down in the Settings menu. Goal keeper intelligence has also been improved although this is an on going process and more work will be done in this area. What's Next?
