- Shardlight review - 10 March 2016
NEED TO KNOW What is it? A post-apocalyptic point-and-click adventure. Expect to pay 11/$15 Developer Wadjet Eye Games Publisher In-house Reviewed on GeForce GTX 970, Intel i7-950, 16GB RAM Multiplayer None Link Publisher website In the ruins of a world ravaged by nuclear war, people afflicted with a disease called Green Lung take on menial, often dangerous jobs to earn a lottery ticket that may win them a dose of life-saving vaccine. Shardlight hero Amy Wellard has the disease, and we join her as she begins one of these lottery jobs. A generator has stopped working and Amy has to climb into a dark, filthy sewer and reactivate it. Shardlight , the next point-and-click venture from Wadjet Eye Games, is closing in on its March 8 release date. It’s now got a demo, which means you can poke your head into a world ravaged by war and extreme class divisions ahead of the curve. It sounds pretty grim, but it looks pretty lovely. …
- Wadjet Eye s Shardlight Coming March 8th - 17 February 2016
Our John called Shardlight “an absorbing puzzle adventure, which is a phrase all too rarely uttered even in these days of the genre’s clumsy resurgence” when he played an early version . That’s a very John form of praise, isn’t it? But encouraging! Soon we’ll get to see for ourselves, as developers Wadjet Eye Games have announced they’ll release Shardlight on March 8th. …
- Wadjet Eye's new adventure Shardlight will be out in March - 16 February 2016
Shardlight, the upcoming post-apoc point-and-clicker that was announced last fall , will be out on March 8. Developer Wadjet Eye Games revealed the date today, along with a new trailer confirming that, 20 years after the world was shattered by war, it's still a miserable place. The wealthy are doing alright, but the teeming masses face a day-to-day struggle for survival amid squalor and disease. Wadjet Eye specializes in this kind of retro-flavored adventure, as a developer and a publisher, and it has a well-earned reputation for putting out good stuff: Gemini Rue , Primordia (which I liked a lot more than our reviewer), Resonance, A Golden Wake , and most recently, Technobabylon . So even though the Shardlight world isn't necessarily the most original thing ever, my hopes for it are fairly high. And original or not, I do dig the setting. I don't know what it is about blasted, post-war…
