  • Demonhunters' Guild - now hiring! - 14 August 2026

Let me tell you guys, the Spanish summer is not the best time to be hard at work! Despite the sweltering temperatures, we've been making solid progress - mostly around parts of the project a little farther from the core gameplay. Working on new classes, abilities and enemies is the fun part, but there is also a lot of grunt work that goes into shipping a game: from adding a settings menu (we did that!), through tweaking UI to work at various screen sizes (did that!) to making sure that the random number generator is properly seeded everywhere (yup, did that as well!). But there is another thing that we've worked on quite a bit over the summer, and that is the metagame - everything that you do between runs when you're not actively fighting monsters. What you see here is the Demonhunter's Guild Great Hall - your central base of operations. You'll use this place to get ready for your next…

  • June Update - meet the characters! - 3 June 2026

It's early June and it's time for another Seal of Solitomb update! Last month was nice and varied - we've worked on boss arenas, camera movement, scene transitions, the shop interface, ability animations, the battle sequence, and tons of smaller stuff. This is all necessary work to bring the final level of polish to the game, but the biggest focus of our work in May was getting one thing fully implemented, playtested and ready for release. Character classes Seal of Solitomb is a reimagining of an earlier PICO-8 version of the game. This means taking what's already there, then doing more of it and better. Sounds simple, but tends to be harder in practice. "Just add more stuff" is a recipe for disaster. If you don't carefully think those additions through, you'll get a muddled, confused sequel that waters down what made the first one successful. The characters in Solitomb are one of the p…

  • Sealing the Solitomb - project update - 17 April 2026

Hey everyone, time to share an update about the project! It's been a long prototyping process, filled with endless iteration, numerous redesigns and long nights struggling with the scope, the structure and the overarching story of the game. My notebook is littered with notes, half-baked sketches and angry scrawls, and if you imagined my office during that time as the stereotypical writer's room filled to the brim with balls of crumpled-up paper, you wouldn't be far off. In my darkest moments, I wasn't even sure I could pull the project off. But that's all behind me now. The iterations have been iterated, the designs re-re-redesigned, the world imagined and reimagined, the code rewritten again and again. The game is now 95% prototyped, fully functional, and it got to be so fun that I keep accidentally playing it instead of working on it. The remaining work is more a matter of time and ef…
