- I Remember September - 17 September 2026
Play a little Earth, Wind & Fire, boo,NGL, I thought I had another week. It's my partner's birthday, so she has laid claim to the whole day and I crammed a bunch of extra work into last night. Feel free to wish BeesKnees and happy birthday. The first visual novel I worked on was a little project called Romancing the Sun. It wasn't literal. I wrote and made terrible art and she programmed it. I took everything she taught me about programming in this easy language that lacks a bunch of programming terms that is apparently normal and I ran off and made sexy visual novels with tits and crime.Recursion? There is some kind of repeating clause thing that most other programming does.Anyway, thank you Beesknees and happy birthday! (she doesn't read these.)Progress Writing My word processor does this weird thing where it makes the page off-center when it is full screen. If I don't notice it, my n…
- August 2026 Progress Report - 20 August 2026
Hey Boo,We're into the second month named after a Roman emperor. The economics are pretty bad for everyone and my bosses seem to think that's my fault. Little do they know, it is my fault. Not only do I engineer the seasonal dips in sales but I also broke the economy and gas prices. They are so close to the truth, hew-hew-hew.Progress If I didn't track these numbers, I'd feel like I didn't do anything at all. That's just the kind of mentality I've adopted with jobs that either hide the big picture or have a big picture that doesn't make sense.Adding the programming to the to most lines really balloons the page count, which is why I count down. When I started it was some two hundred. This fifty pages that I made progress on left 90 pages behind. Another way to track the inflation is there were fifty-seven thousand words before and that is now at sixty-five. Seven thousand words of progr…
- Goodbye, Wilson Wonka - 15 July 2026
Hello Boo,I'm going to take my personal note to talk about the life of a dev. Not the whole life, the secret double life that people who do anything anonymously get.Wilson Wonka died of cancer last month. He with his co-dev and animator Puggy made The Hellcat Lounge. I first noticed Wonka when he was sharing his art on several servers. His art is gorgeous. He paid attention to materials in a way that made every render perfect. Wonka did things the right way. After I learned that he was making a game and joining his server, the first thing I remember was him making an announcement that he was scrapping all his previous work on his game because he got a new pack of higher resolution textures. He wanted to do everything in his power to make his game look as good as possible. He paid for those textures too. Something that I learned several times is the extent to which Wonka hated piracy.Every…

- Proud June Bugs - 17 June 2026
June Bugs Goodbye, favorite month. Hello, Summer. I tried to crack my knuckles but the noise wasn't very satisfying. So, I decided I couldn't write.Last month, I got a lot of people excited about my harem opinions. I'm probably not going to find a topic that will attract the same attention.Progress Animation I tried a few more animations. For some reason I thought I had zero and then I had a chapter five folder full of uncompiled frames. I think I haven't been happy with them so they got memory holed. As a reminder, if the animation isn't lewd, I don't count it on the tracker.Writing I keep saying, "I think I can finish this by x". Weekends, spare time, being left alone in coffee shops. I'm glad I don't make those promises publicly. Skin color I played around with a certain body part's skin color selector. It's a setting that is like a riddle. Three color values. Subtle changes to each…
- Lightning Strike and Realistic Harems - 20 May 2026
Hey boo, I'm writing this under an April shower and rain's constant companion, lightning. (I just doubled checked to make sure I meant to post this in May.) I don't like taking any risks with lightning. Sure, I have backups and online saves but who wants to shell out for a new PC? I don't even want to retrace old prepwork until I have to.So, it's lowfi writing time. I breakout the chromebook that can barely handle the word processor. Hook up the record player to my big old headphones and wonder what component sounds like gargling and write.Cat is pushing onto my lap, looks like it's time to dick around on the phone!Last month I went off the rails a little. I usually mean to post a small personal bullshit thing. Then specific stats for the game progress. Then something about writing or AVNs. Last month's post was all bullshit. Shout out to the reader who was probably new, who had the cor…
- Success - 16 April 2026
Hey Boo, What is success? The same people who I played in lan parties after college formed a game company, once. They dreamed of making a game together. I don't know what their terms of success were. Replacing their day jobs? Getting a million dollars? Having a top mobile game? Being on steam?I don't know because I've never been into the numbers.I think a lot about failure because my game is about failure but it is also the struggle of most writers. Writers strictly looking to be traditionally published write novels and short stories and submit them to agents and mostly get rejected. They write the same story over again. Every step feels like failure. Every thousand words could be cut down to a hundred, on a good day. Every day of work might result in a single sentence of use, no a bad day. There is always tweaks and typos and mistakes.I used to hang out in nerdfighter forums and people…
- New Game Announcement - 1 April 2026
Hey Boo, One of my bigger worries about chapter 3 was the inclusion of a choice prompt only maze. I've seen other games get backlash for including mazes and resort to publishing guides or patching the maze out completely.I took a crack team or myself, myself with less sleep, myself slightly distracted, and myself on just the right amount of caffeine and we crafted a maze that wouldn't break the golden rule "I don't want players to bother me."Many words got nested into several choices. We implemented a sister-smacking power up system. We made the scene a beautiful hedge full of flowers. Tully was there.Despite the work from our expensive team, there is no plan to withstand reality. It had to be tested. When the alpha testers started dissecting the game, their zero feedback or reports revealed no problems but also no praise. When devs, I approached with "Hey, I have this new twenty minute d…
- Sick March - 19 March 2026
Hey boo,Don't stand too close, I've been sick. I don't want to give you my cough. Though, if giving it to you means that I don't have it, might be worth. Who's my little sin eater?A cold did knock me on my ass for a week--and counting. It's left me with this cough that isn't dry but it does creep up when I'm not doing anything, trying to sleep, in between activities, or trying to write. Which makes me think it's my body being dumb. Here I am. write.write.write. If there's one thing that my experience has taught me for sure, it's that cough drops that expired in twenty twenty-four taste better than today's.*this is where I'd drop a song if this was xanga or myspace with those song embeds.* ProgressThings are trekking on. While I was sick, the render queue finished. Always a mixed sign. As soon as I was feeling better, I filled in a few more scenes, fixed some lighting, and plugged in ano…
- Familiar February - 18 February 2026
Hey Boo, I've always thought of myself as a lazy transcendentalist. Like, the spiritual has always felt familiar. It's always felt like I've always been meditating. I've always felt connected to my inner life and thoughts. It's possible that it's over exposure. I'm familiar with meditation through pop culture made by people who DO meditate and believe in inner truths that are deeper than ourselves and connected to the universe. It could be great marketing. People want familiar things. It's Die Hard but the building is on fire and your sister lost her clothes. You were already meditating, let these teachings show you how to take full advantage. But that can't be right. There must be more to it. More that I don't understand, don't do right, and don't grasp. But it feels familiar, so I use that as an excuse to not investigate further. Thus lazy.I was given David Lynch's book Catching the Big…

Slow down grab the wall wiggle like you're trying to make your ass fall off-Sage the Gemini "-Is the best couplet. It's the best couplet. It's the best, yet, couplet. Fuck you, Shakespeare. Fuck you, Emily Dickenson. Fuck you, E.E. Cummings. Fuck you, every other poet. Gas Pedal." -Hank Green Hey Boo,Welcome to my first progress report of chapter 5. The pattern I like for these is:-Greeting with some personal drivel of whatever is on mine or a joke.-Progress Tracker -Details about progress-Optional bigger news-Optional Essay topics-Promotional announcements Progress Report New progress tracker!I'm currently writing. I've been writing for a few months as I've been working on other things. I'm mainly a writer and I just do it all the time. The stats on the tracker will shift as I hit different stages of production. Word count is a permanent feature, along with art, animation, and coding.…
- Creating a Demo and casual hotfixes - 12 January 2026
Hey, Thanks to everyone who is playing, following along, and participating! The first two weeks of being released on steam have been great! Seeing all the new players, watching the achievements, and seeing the interest is very exciting. I will resume my normal regular progress reports on the third Wednesday of each month. UPDATES and HOTFIXESIt seems like the worst of the bugs have been found. For a while I was making some minor tweeks and when a bug was found, I'd fix it and push out the hotfix. This is still my plan but if there aren't any major bugs, I might just choose a calendar date and make the last minor fix on that day. Thanks to everyone for the feedback! FAQ's What's plan for future consent? Is there a roadmap? I have a fulltime job and I work on the game when I can. I've tried adding some people to the team but none have worked out well, yet. So, I don't have a roadmap. What…

- Progress Report November 2025 - 20 November 2025
Hey Boo, The things got done? I don't know the differences in output but it got a lot faster. I want to throw out some caveats like work is getting busier and they changed all the hours but that's also been true most of this month. I finished a playthrough of Halo CE and finished all the picture editing and now the game runs.Seriously, If you asked me how all the work got done, I couldn't tell you. I'm slightly confused. The game runs. Boots. I can look at it and play. The process of finishing the art, putting it in a folder, and pasting the script into the code editor is the kind of magic that can only be interrupted by then trying to find all the spots that need to be indented for code to work.I've been debugging for about a week. I have a list of errors that I am working through. Most of them are image related. There are a few priorities for each test.Image Check This is mostly going o…
- July Progress Report - 21 July 2025
Hey Boo, I'm always thinking about the game. The events and fleshing out the world in my easy-bake-oven-brain. I think about peoples comments but also what it means. And it brings me much more joy than considering the political machinations of dealing with payment processors. Underestimating the audiencePart of getting criticism is knowing what to do with it because people and stories are complicated. Sometimes, I'm in the wrong mood for a certain kind of story. Part of the ritual of the movie theatre, the stacks, the drink, the dark room and complete group silence prepares people to receive a story.Books, phone games, and youtube videos don't have that luxury. Arguably, TikTok has a ritual of trial, error and an infinite feed.It can take me a while to get into a game, so if an introduction is universally rough, I don't know it until I talk with some other people. It takes a lot of self…
- May 2025 Progress Report - 21 May 2025
Hey boo, It's a rough day. Part of indie work is learning how to work and how you work as a person. Corporations and work places have learned how to make people work in ways that suck. There's the obvious things like the alternatives of having a job. There's less obvious things like the segmenting of time, workplace layout, and the other things that people have to distinctly get used. Training new employees is like a crash course in how fried your brain is. Then there is serious things like culture and behaviors that undermine your rights. Like not getting a lunch break or voluntary, unpaid overtime. There are some things that are fine with work, like coworkers. Taking breaks is a good idea and something I might do more consciously if I could listen to my body. Stretching every hour of deskwork. Actually taking lunch. I discovered a nice system at work. Where it's a good break if I forg…
- April Drools to Pools - 17 April 2025
Hello Boo and different yet distinct Boos, April is a month that we are in. I want to say that it's good but it's mixed. The weather is getting warmer but we've hit seventies a few times for it to snow again next week. I'm weirdly hyped for the new Marathon game even though I don't play extraction shooters. The story seems interesting and dealing with complex ideas of identity, death, and instrumentality. I can see clap back to that like other games have done the whole your body is owned by a corporation thing kind of corporate nihilism. Ship breakers for one. It plays with a lot of ideas from the lore and setting of the original Marathon that just weren't the topic of the games and perhaps an entity from the old games is messing with that, which gives a layer of depth and mythology that I really dig. Bungie's gunplay is always really solid. The only thing I'd like more is if there were…
