- Hotfix 1.3.1 - 6 April 2026
Fixed a rare potential softlock in The Catacombs Fixed a minor issue with a late game lore entry Fixed a few minor bugs with setting keybinds: "Ability 5" can now properly be bound to another key The map keys added in the last update now show their proper name on the keybind prompt instead of displaying as "Error"
- Update 1.3.0 - The Map Update! - 14 March 2026
Hey everyone! Excited to announce that a new update just went live introducing a lot of fixes and QoL updates based on community feedback! Thank you to everyone who left reviews and popped into the discord for discussions, your feedback was invaluable and you've helped get the game into a better place. On top of the new content, there is also now a native Linux build of the game available! In case you missed it in the last post, there's also an official Steam Input controller layout for the game, and I can personally verify that it plays great on the Steam Deck.Patch Notes:Added an in-game map that will fill out as you explore zones in the gameAccessed by pressing M (can be rebound)There's a function to place markers anywhere on the map to keep track of things, with several different shapes and colors to choose from!Existing saves will not have map data available retroactively, and may e…
- Progress Update + Steam Deck Compatibility - 12 February 2026
Work is well underway on a large update that will bring a lot of QoL improvements to address feedback that's come in since the game released! The biggest addition on the way is an in-game map to help you better orient yourself in the city of Artahk. The map will fill out with new areas and connections between zones automatically as you explore, and can be pulled up from anywhere with a dedicated keybind. It will highlight the current zone you're in (and you can toggle between viewing just that zone or the full world map), but there is not a marker of your exact current position--you'll still have to stay aware of your surroundings to find your way!Other additions on the way include:A way to get around faster late game when you've reached the point of scouring the map for things that you missedAn option to use a smoother, more readable font in the tome instead of the aesthetically fittin…
- Hotfix 1.2.1 - 3 December 2025
Fixed a bug where one specific lore entry would crash the game if you tried to bookmark it When you scroll over a lore serial in the tome interface, a preview of its entries is now shown on the right side without needing to select it Corrected a few typos found in lore entries
- Update 1.2.0 - 30 November 2025
Patch Notes:Added a new option in the settings menu to control the intensity of the dark overlay applied to unlit areasThis setting will allow you to go as far as fully disabling it if need be, but in general I wouldn't recommend going below 50% or lights will start to look a little strange since they were designed around the darkening effectThe escape key can now consistently be used as an alternative for closing menus regardless of your keybinds. It also works as an alternative to open the in-game menu nowFixed a bug where the magenta torch ability would not turn off if you died while using it, causing odd behavior until you tried to activate it again on respawnFixed an oversight where it was possible to trap yourself with no way out in the root puzzle in the Main Plaza zoneFixed an issue where it was possible to get two movable mirrors stuck and unable to be pushed in The Royal Parte…

- Update 1.1.0 - 23 November 2025
Hey everyone! I hope you've all been enjoying the game, it's been amazing seeing so many of you puzzling your way through the city. No one's quite made it to the end yet, but I can see that some of you are getting close—keep it up, I'm rooting for you!I've been paying close attention to all of the feedback that's come in and issues that have cropped up, and an update is now live that should address most of it! After all of the unfortunate oversights with the magenta flowers that have cropped up from players testing the bounds of the ability and getting themselves trapped, I've taken another full pass on smoothing out those interactions to make sure you can't trap yourself without a way back... and, proactively, I've added extra return flowers or cyan vines you can use to die and respawn to any location where there's potential for a one-way teleport just in case.About The BeastThere's on…
- Hotfix 1.0.4 - 23 November 2025
Added an extra magenta flower to the Royal Parterre as a safeguard against a rare softlock that could previously occur there
- Hotfix 1.0.3 - 23 November 2025
Corrected an oversight where it was possible to teleport onto a platform without solving the intended puzzle for reaching it, thus stranding yourself without a way to teleport back. It should no longer be possible to do this, and as an extra safeguard just in case there is also now a cyan vine you can use to die and escape via respawn if you somehow manage it still
- Hotfix 1.0.2 - 22 November 2025
Fixed a critical bug that caused a crash and blocked further progress after the encounter you get following your trip into the ziggurat
- Hotfix 1.0.1 - 21 November 2025
Hello everyone, I hope you've been enjoying your time exploring the city! A new patch just went out to fix a few issues that have cropped up since release, version 1.0.1!Patch Notes:Fixed an issue with text scaling on extremely high resolution displays that would cause overlapping text, and in rare cases even crash the game when trying to open certain lore entriesAdded a full reset button to the vine puzzle on the shore of Moonglade Lake to avoid a possible softlock if you die with no entrances openA rogue vine that was improperly killing players in the Fortress Ruins maze has been brought back in line and should no longer be lethalSorry to any of its victims for the scare, hopefully the achievement made up for itFixed inversion tile puzzles incorrectly showing "\" as the prompt to close the interface regardless of what key is assigned to that actionFixed a few places where footstep sou…

You grasp the bloom and look within.Your thoughts are pulled to a stormy bluff pitched over a fathomless abyss. Chaotic winds rage all around you, threatening to knock you off your feet. At the edge of the cliff an impossibly long alabaster staircase rises up toward a dark tower far in the distance. You start to climb. At once, the storm pushes you back. A single step is a battle. You persist all the same. Step by grueling step, you ascend, pressing on and on toward the looming tower, even as the storm builds and your legs tremble and the biting wind chills your bones. The tempest howls and whips around you, ever intensifying,…

A Corpse Can HealI didn’t listen, of course. Gloam lilies only bloom in absolute darkness, too shy for even the dim light of the moon. They were always his favorite, and mine as well. A perfect symbol that not all hope is lost, that even in dismal shadow beauty thrives and new things yet can grow. Nothing else would suffice to honor his memory. And so, every week that I can I return again to that hillside, cautious now to hide my coming and going. Delphine knows, and some of her efforts stop me for a time. A few weeks lost learning to skirt night patrols, a month to find a way to pass by the new gate barricade undetected. But I always find a way. I think spite is all that really drives her to such lengths. I’ll never underst…

She leans ever so slightly against a staff clenched in her hand.“Tell me: What do you see in the sky?” “Nothing at all. Same as always, I’m afraid,” I reply. I offer a smile and carry on my way. “But you can count on me to keep looking, Delphine, don’t you worry.” She grabs my arm; I flinch. “You will address me as sage,” she hisses. - Prologue Story: Flowers Beneath A Starless Sky I - 14 November 2025
The release date is quickly approaching, and I've got something special planned to get you ready! "Flowers Beneath A Starless Sky" is a prologue story written in the same style as the game's lore, and I'll be sharing a chapter here every day counting down to launch! It's a tale that will give you a little bit of extra context and insight into the world of Artahk, and leads directly into the intro you'll see when you first boot up the game. I hope you enjoy this little tease of what's to come!NEXT CHAPTERI. KindlingThe world is dark and long forgotten. That is how I have always known it. Shadows linger at the edge of all horizons, and stories tell of past glory and wondrous things that once were but are no longer, and none seem to care at all for their absence.A chill breeze scrapes my cheek as I sit alone amongst the lilies. The village sage used to take us here every now and then when…
- Feature Preview: Abilities - 12 November 2025
With release just a week away, I've got one last preview for you! This time, I'll share a little bit about some of the abilities you'll unlock as you progress in the game. When you first step into the city, you'll be armed with only your trusty torch to guide you, but hidden away in the ruins are various relics that will augment your light with new and exciting powers. There are four in total (or was it five..?) for you to find, each one unlocking new paths forward and revealing new secrets hiding in places you've already been.I wouldn't want to spoil everything, but I can give you some insight into the first two abilities you'll unlock! The Brass CharmThe ruins of Artahk are heavily overgrown, twisted vines and unnatural trees completely overpowering the skeletal remains of the city. You'll be troubled by one type of overgrowth in particular: Dense vines sporting cyan flowers that seem…
- Feature Preview: Beware The Beast - 9 November 2025
Did you know? You won't be alone in the ruins of Artahk! But don't take that as a reassurance...Stories say that a great and fearsome beast lurks among the overgrowth, patrolling the outer ring of the city as warden of its secrets. None who cross its path live to tell the tale, and no weapon known can pierce its hide. To face it is death—it must be avoided at all costs. The Beast was one of the first gameplay mechanics planned for the game, and it's gone through a lot of tweaking and revisions to nail a perfect balance between function and presentation without being a frustration for players. Have you ever found yourself stubbornly tunnel-visioned on a puzzle or challenge that you're struggling with in a game, even though you know you're getting nowhere and there are other things you could be doing? I know I have, and The Beast is my answer to that behavior!Artahk is filled with puzzles…
- Feature Preview: The Tome of Apocrypha - 7 November 2025
I'm very excited to announce that the game's release date is less than two weeks away! Once Glorious Artahk is a project that I've been working on for several years now, and thinking about for even longer. I can't wait to be able to share it with you!As the launch date approaches, I'm going to be sharing a few more in-depth look at some of the features the game has in store to make sure you're prepared to face the challenges ahead. The Tome of ApocryphaOne of the most important aspects of the game is the rich lore that you'll uncover as you explore the ruins of Artahk. The core gameplay loop revolves around discovering "words of power" by solving puzzles that you use to unlock new stories through the most important tool at your disposal: The Tome of Apocrypha. It plays such a pivotal role that the original working title for the game was simply "Apocrypha"!With the tome in your hands, yo…
