  • Wait: The Patient - Store page live - 31 July 2024

Hello everyone, after much consideration, we've decided to separate The Patient from Wait - Extended, and turn it into its own game. There are multiple reasons for this decision. One being the technical issues that we briefly mentioned in a previous post, but also the fact that The Patient has become a much bigger project than we first anticipated, and we feel like it deserves to be its own game. So many people have put such wonderful work into the project, and we wouldn't want their work to be hidden within an 8 year old game. That way, it will also be possible for The Patient to have its own demo, achievements, trading cards, community hub, and so on. That being said, we're super excited to release the Steam store page for Wait: The Patient today: Wait: The Patient Store Page All Steam updates and news regarding the project will now be posted there, so make sure to follow and wishlist.

  • Demo Release and development update - 3 April 2024

Demo Release Today we released a playable demo of 'Wait - Extended' that let's you play through the first nights of the main story. The demo version is already in version 2.0 which features some new artwork and some quality of life improvements. That being said, the full game still remains in v1.8, just to clear up any confusion should you play the full game after having played the demo. So, if you were uncertain about purchasing the game up until now, we invite you to play the demo and see for yourself if it's something for you. You can find it on the store page of the full game. Development of 2.0 As for the development of 2.0 'The Patient', we are nearing its end. While we said Q1 in our teaser, due to private matters, it didn't work out and we apologize. The story of the new side story has been completely developed and now we are implementing all sorts of polishing and extra element…

  • Development Update and RPG Maker Festival - 13 February 2024

Hello, here's a very late "first update of the year". RPG Maker Festival 2024 Before we dive into the current development, the RPG Maker Festival 2024 has started and we are participating with 'Wait - Extended'. So if you want to check out the game before the big update, you could get it now for a small discount. We also encourage you to check out the other great games participating in the festval. RPG Maker Festival 2024 Development As for the development of 'The Patient' and version 2.0, we have finished almost all of the illustrations for the cutscenes and will start voice recording for the protagonist this week. We're very excited to put the visuals and audio together and eventually show you the results. As part of the update, the artwork from the base game will also be overhauled with the new style, which we will start, after all artwork for 'The Patient' has been created. On the c…

  • Winter Sale and Holidays - 22 December 2023

Hello everyone, as the holidays draw near, we are also preparing to spend a few days with the familiy. But not without letting you hear from us first. The Steam Winter Sale is upon us and if you feel the extra need for some holiday eeriness, you can grab Wait - Extended for a discount. Apart from a little setback due to sickness, we made good progress. Because of the different setting and the possibility to talk to a lot of people (which you seldom do in the base game), we were faced with a different kind of story writing challenge and had quite a few design sessions with a lot of back and forth, before we settled on the final gameflow. As always and in tradition of games like these, there will be riddles and we try our best to make them as entertaining, challenging, and non-frustrating as we can. Some are optional and some are integrated in the story. We wish you Happy Holidays and loo…

  • About release dates and teasers - 1 December 2023

Hello everyone, we've been working a lot on the scarier parts of the new content, drawing inspiration from other incredible games (especially old ones), while trying to stay true to the way we convey horror in the base game (no jump scares, only atmosphere). By now, it is easier to evaluate when we'll be done and while we cannot give you a specific date yet, we can definitely say it is going to be some time in Q1 of 2024 (therefore soon-ish). To give you a bit of a taste of what you can expect from 'The Patient', we prepared this short teaser. We hope you enjoy and if you do, wishlist or purchase the game on Steam and join our Discord.

  • About artwork, voices and content - 15 October 2023

Hello everyone, we apologize for the long radio silence. We had many changes happening to the project, and a variety of plans were set into motion. Some things are still uncertain, which is why we can't talk about them yet. As for the things we can talk about: New artist: We have a new artist, who will not only provide the artwork for 'The Patient', but also overhaul the artwork of the base game. We're very excited and hope you enjoy her art as much as we do. Voiced Scenes: After evaluating the possibility for a long time, we decided to have a few select scenes in 'The Patient' that are voiced. These scenes are key scenes of 'The Patient's plot, for which we thought that putting in voices was appropriate. In this regard, we're happy to announce that we have already found the voice actors for our two main characters in this story, and that recordings have already started. Content: Choice…

  • On The Patient's implementation and Save files - 1 August 2023

Here's our weekly update. This time we want to talk about how The Patient is implemented mechanically. The main story of Wait has a single save slot, which you continue directly out of the title menu. The Patient will have its own save slot, which means you could technically have 2 active saves simultaneously. Therefore, we decided to add a separate title screen for The Patient, from which you can continue (or start) your playthrough for this side story. That way, your save game for the main story is not affected by your progress in The Patient. In light of this, the title screen for the main story will be reworked as well. Again, for questions or chats, feel free to join our Discord: https://discord.gg/Qp2DPsB

  • On 'Wait's timeline - 25 July 2023

Here's our weekly update. The story that we're currently bringing to life, may not fit directly into the main story, but it does fit into the timeline, which we are attempting to complete with this update. There have been a variety of events surrounding the apartment in which 'Wait' takes place, dating back all the way to the 70s. With the coming content update, we will place the last piece into the timeline puzzle and therefore cover all decades prior to the present events. Again, for questions or chats, feel free to join our Discord: https://discord.gg/Qp2DPsB

  • On 'The Patient' time system - 18 July 2023

Here's our weekly update. 'The Patient' gives you more options to explore, as you have access to (almost) the entire premises. This is another example of contrast we wanted to create, compared to the base game, in which you are confined to specific maps. To add the element of time to exploration, 'The Patient' is separated into time phases. Much like in the base game, time will move on after certain events, only this time slightly more granular. A day is split into several phases (for example morning, afternoon, evening) and once you take certain actions, you will move into the next phase. That being said, within a time phase you can play at your own pace. Time will not move on unless you want it to. Things will change in each phase (for example, people might be gone or be somewhere else), and sometimes what you do in one phase could influence the next. Hopefully you'll enjoy this simpl…

  • On 'The Patient's protagonist - 11 July 2023

The new content for Wait can be started individually and we did that for a few reasons: One of them being that the events cannot be placed into (or attached to) the main story line like we did with the other sidestories. And secondly, this is the first story that is not actively witnessed by our main protagonist from the base game. Therefore, 'The Patient' introduces a new protagonist that will be able to see things from a different perspective. Alice Fincher is a psychologist in a mental clinic, that players who've advanced further in the base game might know. We wanted to bring a stark contrast to the pragmatic and somewhat apathetic demeanor of the main game's protagonist. Dr. Fincher will bring a new perspective to the events of the game and we hope that you enjoy experiencing 'The Patient's events together with her. Again, for questions or chats, feel free to join our Discord: http…

  • More info on the Wait 2.0 Update 'The Patient' - 3 July 2023

As promised, here is some more info on the Wait - Extended v2.0 update called 'The Patient'. The biggest addition of this update is a completely new sidestory with the same name that can be started directly from the title menu. To unlock 'The Patient', you must have at least played through the first invocation (first playthrough) of the main story. That being said, playing more invocations after that may help to better grasp the experience of this new sidestory. 'The Patient' will take place in the 90s and will feature a new protagonist. We will gradually release more information about the sidestory as well as updates to the base game. (This cryptic description is to avoid spoilers for new players.) This particular issue has been a leftover flaw that derived from an old game design idea that we eventually threw away and we really felt like finally adjusting this. - Fixed some minor typos. - Preparing for v2.0
