Latest Steam announcements
- Windowed - 21 April 2026
Windowed and a few other small changes. Still testing for crashing.
- All the changes discussed in yesterday's push... - 17 April 2026
All the changes discussed in yesterday's push, but actually in the build.
- Update notes for April 15 - 16 April 2026
Still working on the crashes...this push is a test on that. We were able to add a crash log file that should help us identify it better. Dimmed colors lights added to each player to identify who and where you are faster. Slowed Lamp tracking may be better. Altered spawn point of lamp to prevent players from hitting themselves Fixed a few lighting/stage set issues with Blackwater falls Fixed a few issues with the IceLevel Tweaked a small issue with the stage select
- Temporary change from 4th to 3rd person - 1 April 2026
We've determined that crashing occurs when all four players are activated and playing the game, but was not occurring when 1, 2, or 3 were activated and playing. This only happens in builds on Steam, not on builds without Steam. For now, we've scaled back to 3 players while we figure that out.
- Crashes? - 24 March 2026
We're hoping this fixes the crashes. Let us know if you still experience them and when if you do.
- We kindly advise you to stay out of the mines - 4 March 2026
We also recommend not dancing in traffic just because the new collision particles are satisfying. This update is us fixing bugs. A lot of them. Not all of them. Not. All. Of. Them. Powerups are now consistently collectible! You really are the last moth standing again. The second to last moth can't rise from the grave and keep causing mayhem anymore. The bubble shield power up is centered on every character when its being used to repel the light. The wand will usually zap your friends. Mountain Stage has some stunning waves. Sound waves, we mean, not actual waves. That would be silly. This is Appalachia! We have hills. The UI works consistently for controllers and keyboard (one player only for testing wasd if you want to give it a go) We can track the light better because it has a trail and our eyes like following light. Amazing, right? Seriously though, you don't want to spend too much…
- GDIM Demo Day: End of Fall Semester - 9 December 2025
This update contains the final updates of the Fall 2025 semester from this capstone group. UI and usability improvements have been made, two additional levels, and a new power up. More thought was given to the position of power ups, general level design, functionality, and set dressing. There are still a few lingering issues, primarily with power ups, that we'll keep working on. The two new levels are Blackwater Falls and a Wintry Ski Slippery Ski Slope. We hope you enjoy testing them out!
- Blackwater Falls Map - 19 November 2025
New map (Blackwater Falls) ! Touch ups on playability of existing maps. UI updates. Bug zap wand stun is working, as is general lamp cool down stun.
- November Updates - 6 November 2025
Bug swatter:That pretty little wand players can grab now shoots electric! It'll be able to stun your other players. It (probably) doesn't yet. Lamp cool down:When playing with others, it use to be easy to continuously spam the throw button to defeat your friends. Finally, we've added a cool down. You'll freeze for a few seconds each time you get the light and be unable to throw it. Ha! We're sure you'll find another way to cheese it.Lamp respawn:It used to respawn at the center when a player died. Now it stays where that player last was and seeks out a new player from there. Fall 2025 Credits:A new group of students at WVU from the capstone group of game design and interactive media onboarded this August into the project. The credits are now updated for them. Mountain Stage:We saw during our playtests that this level needed to be revisited. The light kept escaping! It should be light pr…
- Summer 2025 Session Update - 12 August 2025
A few small improvements made to Light Rush during our summer session at the studio:Settings are now in the right style, whether from the pause menu or main menu.Settings now contain a sound slider that adjusts and saves the level of most of the sound. We're going to say most. A few sound tags may have escaped. If you catch them, let us know which ones?Controllers usually work in the UI. If not, using the mouse for a moment will reactivate them. If you spot a specific place that they break, we need to know that too. Music is now present for all map stages! ːsteamhappyːKeep an eye out for updates on our other Steam projects: Chumps Chained, Derby, and GDIM Arcade!Follow us on the web for info on our latest events: https://www.monrivergames.com/
- Introducing Light Rush on Early Access - 26 May 2025
Hey World, MonRiverGames here. We're a small non-profit organization run by faculty, students, and community members of the Game Design and Interactive Media program at West Virginia University. Most of us are not professionals. We have non game dev day jobs and/or are hoping to one day have this as our day job. Our professors and senior level community members teach us, but we also teach each other. In many ways, we're a learning cooperative. This information is important context to playing any of our games. Please keep it in mind. Today, we're releasing our first game on Early Access and on Steam in general. To be honest, we weren't sure which of the many projects we've been cooking would get this honor. It could have been Derby, Chumps Chained, or the GDIM Arcade. This is not a finished game. It is an Early Access game that we need your help to finish. You can help by playing and rep…
