Hello Grove Keepers! We have a big patch today! It contains the final level set and grove keeper. One you unlock it (it unlocks pretty early on), you can pick to rally all of your units, your caps only, or your golems only!We also add several new blessings; one of which is a Golem Recipe! Now you can unlock that pesky recipe that has been alluding you all this time.Lastly, we made some tweaks to Survival Mode, giving players more essence to spend throughout the battle. Thanks for joining us on this journey. We're almost to 1.0!
- Patch 0.8.1: Survival Mode! - 21 August 2026

You will get essence over time that you can use to spend in the shop. Try to beat your high score! All of your experience is saved, so this is another game mode to unlock meta progression. This new mode will evolve, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know in Discord or on our Steam Discussions page. - Patch 0.7.2: Turbo Mode, Easy Difficulty, Performance, Improved Targeting - 24 February 2026
Hello Grove Keepers! We have a pretty big patch for you!Turbo ModeWe've gotten feedback that even with the 3x speed, the gameplay can feel a little slow. So, we've added Turbo mode for all of you speed demons. Turbo mode is a new mode that you can enable on any of your runs. On turbo mode, all units are faster, spawn rate is increased, and capture rate has been decreased (so you have time to react with all of these faster units). We hope you enjoy it!Easy DifficultyWe've also gotten feedback that the game feels too hard sometimes. The game is meant to be challenging, but we realize it can be too much, even with the meta progression. The new Easy difficulty will give your units a small boost in stats, but it should make a big difference. When you're ready, you can bump up to normal difficulty!Performance ImprovementsWe recognize that on levels with many factions and units, the game can s…

- Dev Update #11: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - 8 October 2025
Hello Current and Future Grove Keepers! As we prepare for Next Fest, we wanted to post up some FAQs about some of the background and aspects of the game. If you have any more questions, feel free to let us know and we'll answer it!Q: What are your inspirations behind Beyond the Grove?A: Beyond the Grove was primarily inspired by an old Starcraft custom game called “Golem Wars”. In the game, there were large, chaotic battles with varying Golems that you could create based on certain recipes. It was great, but not without its flaws: it was an RTS where micro/APM/twitch reflexes were important, each match could last 30 or more minutes, and the controls were restricted by the modding tools. We wanted to take the essence of that, and modify it to a game that we think modern gamers would enjoy. We pulled in other inspirations like Super Auto Pets or Cult of the Lamb for the art style, and inst…

Hello Current and Future Grove Keepers!Demo 1.1 is now live on Steam! Like mentioned in a previous post, it includes a new glossary, a new tutorial experience, and Japanese/Simplified Chinese translations. New TutorialThe new tutorial gets players into the game faster and delivers bite-sized explanations of the game mechanics. Playtesters have loved it so far and I hope you do too!In-Game GlossaryAnother highly requested feature is an in-game glossary. Right now, it's only text, but we'll add images and other supplementary helpers soon!Japanese and Simplified Chinese TranslationsThe demo is now fully translated into Japanese and Simplified Chinese. We hired professionals for the translations (no AI here!). You can change the language in the bottom left corner of the main menu. We hope you enjoy it!We're super close to Next Fest where hopefully many new Grove Keepers will be joining the…
- Dev Update #10: Next Fest and Demo 1.1 - 28 August 2025
Hello Current and Future Grove Keepers! Now that our Demo is live, we’d like to go over what’s next: We’ll be participating in October’s Steam Next Fest and releasing an updated version of our demo! Here are the updates we’ll be making in the demo.Updated tutorialOur current tutorial is dialogue based, which is good for building a bit of personality to the Grove Keeper, but kind of confusing when it comes to actually teaching the game. In the upcoming demo, the tutorial will be more traditional, with windows that pop up to explain parts of the game when they are relevant. Glossary We’ve added a glossary to reference when players have forgotten certain terms or concepts. LocalizationWe’re currently in the process of preparing the game for localization. We’re hoping to have several languages available for the next version of the demo. On the top of the list are: Japanese, Chinese, French,…

- Dev Update #9: Demo Content - 31 July 2025
Hello Future Grovekeepers! We’re almost done with the demo and wanted to share with what will be available. In Beyond the Grove, you can have 7 elements to create golems with, 50+ golems, 100+ blessings, 20+ maps, and 7 meta-progression upgrades. Mix those together and every run should feel unique and fresh – but we can’t have all of that available for the demo! This is what we’ll have available for demo launch:3 elements50+ blessings 9 maps 1 boss9 summonable golems, with many more summonable by the enemiesThe elements that will be available are fire, earth, and light. This will give you a taste of the variety of units depending on the elements. Fire is focused around damage and area of effect, but is fragile. Earth units have high health, but have trouble dealing damage alone. Light is relatively balanced, but their primary tier 2 unit attacks unpredictably. We had to pick 3 elements,…
- Dev Update #8: Evolution of the Golem Creator Interface - 28 June 2025
Hello Future Grove Keepers! One of the most important aspects of the game is the Golem Creator interface - this will be the place where you experiment with elements to create the perfect golem. We've spent a lot of time prototyping and tweaking the interface and wanted to share with you all the journey. Initially, we just started with a list. What is it that we wanted the players to be able to do?See the elements they had and didn't have to work withSee the potential golem to be createdCreate the golem and prepare it to be summonedUndo actions Sounds simple, right? Here was our first prototype:It did the things we wanted it to do, but not only was it hard to read, but it took up a lot of space. The next step was to try and consolidate it to one container. Better. Next was to add the "chrome".We really liked this one and stuck with it for a while, but through all the playtesting, we noti…
