- Devlog #10 - 23 February 2026
Our two main goals this past month have been to ensure that all the latest implemented features work correctly in online cooperative mode and to improve and modernize the in-game UI.Below is a short video of the cooperative mode being playtested locally on a single computer:And here is an example of the new UI design that we're currently implementing:There is still a lot to test before releasing a new build with the online feature enabled, but we're getting close! As soon as the online features are finished, we can finally focus on improving particle effects and weapon animations and adding new robots and components.Stay tuned for the next round of updates!
- Devlog #9 - 26 January 2026
Progress on Sync Tactics is slow but steady. We're addressing all the feedback received so far and adding various visual effects to help new players understand the game mechanics. Our goal is to have the next playtest build ready for co-op, so stay tuned for the next round of updates!
- Devlog #8 - 19 December 2025
The last month has been packed with things to do in order to address all the feedback received. We're still working on some of these improvements, but it's time for a quick update on our progress! We have some important news to share. The game is now available on a Web build on itch.io ( https://phobos-games.itch.io/sync-tactics ) for those who wish to try it. No need to download it. We worked hard on it, and we'll even be able to play co-op directly using the web build when that feature is included early next year!Another interesting and unexpected event was that Joe Baxter-Webb from the Indie Game Clinic recently played Sync Tactics during a live stream: This has been very helpful because it gave us useful hints on how to improve the tutorial and where to focus to make the first playthrough less confusing for the players. Our current web build is the same one that was played in the liv…
- Devlog #7 - 6 November 2025
The first Sync Tactics playtest is live! https://phobos-games.itch.io/sync-tacticsIn the last couple of weeks we spent the time bugfixing and preparing a single-player build for our first playtest. We decided to start with a single-player version of the game to make sure that the mechanics are fun to play even when you're not playing cooperative or competitive modes.Let us know what you think, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
- Devlog #6 - 17 October 2025
This devlog should have been published a couple of weeks ago, but it's sometimes hard to find the time to write these updates when there's so much development work to be done! So, over the past few weeks, we have fully implemented a new system that enables players to visualize enemy positions and plan their own robots' actions more effectively. We're also improving the user interface and adding new elements to the hangar where the robots are built.
- Devlog #5 - 23 September 2025
Over the last week, we have started to improve the in-game UI to enable new interactions with enemy robots. It will soon be possible to visualize the predicted movement of enemies!I would like to take this opportunity to provide a brief overview of how the Planning Phase works in Sync Tactics. This phase occurs simultaneously for all players (including the AI), meaning that each participant will plan their robots' actions at the same time as the others. While planning these actions seems straightforward enough, it is important to remember that, in the next phase (Execution Phase), the robots will attempt to carry out these actions, but not all at once. Each robot will act in accordance with its turn order (the number displayed above each robot's health bar).In this example, the enemy robot has a turn order '2', while your robot has a turn order '3'. This means that, while you are trying…
- Devlog #4 - 11 September 2025
We have new capsule art! Thanks to our 3D artist who patiently drew it entirely by hand! We don't use AI, as this process demonstrates:Meanwhile, the developers had been busy fixing bugs, improving the UI, and balancing the game.We also had an unexpected meeting with a publisher this week. We're going to prepare a build for them in a few days' time. Wish us luck!
- Devlog #3 - 1 September 2025
One of the most difficult aspects of having simultaneous turns is displaying the most important actions when multiple robots are executing at the same time. This week, the effort was focused on improving the automatic camera's ability to identify the right events to follow. What's more, we're finalizing the tutorial and tooltips to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new players. Most of the mechanics are fairly straightforward to learn, and we're trying to keep the tutorial as short and concise as possible.
- Devlog #2 - 19 August 2025
This week we’ve been focusing on polishing the animations, especially the one that plays when a robot takes damage, it’s now more dynamic and should feel much more impactful during battles. On top of that, we’ve started testing the mobile version of the game to make sure everything runs smoothly on smaller screens and to test the cross-platform co-op mode. Exciting progress all around!
- Devlog #1 - 8 August 2025
We're not slowing down the development, even during this hot summer.Over the past week, the team has been working to improve the UI quality, create new robot components and balance the initial campaign challenges. As always, there has also been a lot of bug-fixing,The changes here are quite noticeable!
