- Early Access Roadmap - 11 September 2026
With Station Command releasing into Early Access on Tuesday, we're excited to show you what we plan to bring to you over the next few months. TimeLet's start with the big one: months, not years. The game is in very good shape, and the remaining content is very far along. Releasing in Early Access gives us a chance to hear early feedback and make any pivots we need to, but outside of something truly catastrophic you can expect the full campaign to be available at the start of next year. New ChaptersEvery major update we plan to deliver will bring with it an additional chapter in the story along with the factions, ships, equipment, research, upgrades, and more you would expect from that. When you reach the end of the currently available chapter, we make an autosave for you so once the next update hits you can just load your game and continue your story. You can expect chapter 2, 3, and 4…
- Dev Diary #5 - Combat - 9 September 2026
Combat is the core of our game. Whether you're fighting pirates, a corrupt manager, rival mining corps, , or even , most of our gameplay is combat. If you've played our demo, you've seen how our combat works at a basic level. The mix of turn based strategy and auto-battler we think is pretty unique, but it's also relatively simple. And that's a good thing! That's an intentional thing. It's important we don't overload you with systems and options right up front so you can ease into the role of Commander. But it does leave the question of what more there will be. New OptionsLet's get the first and obvious one out of the way. A whole host of new tactics, upgrades, ships, weapons, and equipment will be available for you to discover and use. Combined with the new Science and Engineering systems (see our previous dev diaries), there's a huge amount of options and synergies available to your f…
- Dev Diary #4 - Choices - 31 July 2026
Let's talk about choices. As better designers than me have pointed out, they're the core of what makes up any game. We've already talked about a lot of mechanical choices you'll be making in previous diaries. Today I want to focus on the narrative choices you'll be making. Some of these are what you would expect. Characters offer you a clear choice, you pick one. Good and bad things happen based on your choices. Nice and simple. Others are more gradual. How many times have you said something that annoys someone? Or something they disagree with? Many of your choices will slowly raise or lower character and faction opinions. Some choices are larger than others. What you choose for your background early on is a major choice. Opting to align with the miners over management is another early choice that drastically changes the content you'll encounter. But even the smaller choices will often l…
- Dev Diary #3 - Engineering - 15 June 2026
Dev Diary #3 – Engineering Last time we talked about Science and all the different unlocks it can give you. Chief among them are equipment upgrades and ship retrofits. So, what are those and how do you use them? Welcome to Engineering. In the new story flow for chapter 1 you'll unlock Engineering very early. Here is where you'll get to customize your equipment and ships. Let's start with equipment. You'll have a small number of equipment upgrade options available to you automatically. Most equipment can be upgraded twice, each time gaining a new affix from the options you've unlocked via story, science, and other secret ways. Each upgrade option can be applied only to certain equipment types (no adding point defense to a shield generator), and over time you may find ways to improve the upgrades you've unlocked. The first upgrade you apply is a reasonable price and we expect players to u…
- Dev Diary #2 - Science - 29 May 2026
Let's talk about customization. One of the design goals of Station Command is that your fleet should feel like it's yours. You're on the edge of explored space facing an impossible situation. You're surviving by scavenging whatever you can to find clever solutions that defy the odds. Narratively, your ships should be unexpected and unique. Right now, in the demo, that's somewhat true. Your fleet will likely be a mix of ships from multiple factions, and their equipment will be the same. That's where the personalization ends though. There's no way to really make a ship something unique to you. So, let's change that. Some items you encounter, both from salvage and merchants, will now have a small addition to their tooltip: There's a lot changed there from what's currently in the demo. We've noticed in watching people play that affixes were often mixed, so we've adjusted the display to be a…
- Dev Diary #1 - Upgrades - 15 May 2026
Hi everyone, I'm Daniel. I'm the Studio Lead here at Respite Games. Welcome to the first of our bi-weekly Dev Diaries! Before we get started, I want to thank everyone who has played the demo so far. It's been an absolute joy seeing people really connect with both the gameplay and story. If you want to participate more in discussion around the game, we have a discord server. You'll find the link below. Now let's talk about upgradesUpgrades have gone through a lot of iterations since we started working on Station Command. Initially they were planned to be a more traditional talent tree system, but we quickly found that restricted what we could do with them. A talent tree felt artificial, overloaded the player with information right up front, and set expectations that we really didn't like. Instead, having each upgrade be something your crew or an ally is proposing felt extremely thematic. I…
