Note: If you would be interested in:Getting info on future play testing opportunities Chatting with the devs and like-minded people about your favorite games Taking part in future raffles (You may get to influence easter eggs in the game)Consider joining our Salmon Snake Games Discord Server! We would be so happy if you joined our small community ^^ I have crawled out of the trailer hole I jumped into last month.August was spent running against the clock to complete the first trailer for our game by the end of the month. My part in it is now done, and the trailer has made its way to our composer’s desk. Once he completes the audio, I’m finally free to post it everywhere! ^^ I’m quite proud of everything I accomplished to make the trailer showcase the game in the best way possible. Now that the trailer is complete, it’s back to prioritizing demo development. My list of things I need to im…
- Devlog: On choices in story-heavy games - 13 July 2026
Note: If you would be interested in:Getting info on future play testing opportunities Chatting with the devs and like-minded people about your favorite games Taking part in future raffles (You may get to influence easter eggs in the game)Consider joining our Salmon Snake Games Discord Server! We would be so happy if you joined our small community ^^ As fans of story-heavy games, choices and their perceived meaningfulness is often in the mind of the Salmon Snake Team. This whole project was kicked off, because the team played an unnamed strategy game that presented itself with deep and meaningful choices, but that in the end felt shallow and the outcomes felt like they were outside of the player's control. I will not go into details or name the game in question, but people that have played it might guess it.Basically, going into the game the team decided on opposite strategies: I decided…

We would be so happy if you joined our small community ^^ Welcome to yet another devlog for our game ^^ This sprint has largely been about fisxing a lot of weird bugs, but there are also some pretty neat large-is features at the very end. This devlog's topic -- Cake Clubs!Last friday the devteam had our monthly cake club! For those not in the know this game team was originally a cake club. Well it still is. This time we convened at script writer Elmo's place. He baked us some excellent pineapple pie from his historical cookbook. I believe this recipe was from the 1700's?…

We would be so happy if you joined our small community ^^ Hello again! It is time for another devlog. This forthnight has unfortunately been shadowed by numerous IT issues. My computer of 5 years is nearly at the end of it's life. When I got it in January of 2021, it was already refurbished by then. I think it's originally from 2017, so it's pretty much an elder machine. I've already ordered it's replacement but I do mourn for it somewhat :( (And my wallet) Despite this we've had a good sprint! Even if a lot of it is kinda unexciting progress: Marketing: 💠 Our current w…

We would be so happy if you joined our small community ^^ Hello again! ^^ It was my birthday since the last devlog. I received absolutely beautiful watercolor art of Eloise and Willow as a gift from a friend I'm so happy about them I put them on my wall. I hope I can see lot's of fanart of our characters one day. At least let me hope... I like to write these devlogs immediately after we finish our bi-weekly sprint meetings, so I let the last sprint extend a little to sync them with the meetings again after we all returned from our christmas break. For this reason this de…

We would be so happy if you joined our small community ^^I hope your holiday's were as fun as mine. I visited family and friends a lot (or friends visited me) Oddly my holidays were almost Halloween themed rather than Christmas. We played spooky video- and board games with my friends. The "Betrayal at house on the hill" board game quickly became my favorite board game over the last year. It's kinda like DnD lite? Every game you get a different scenario that happens in this cursed mansion that you build over the…
- Crystal in Carnations Devlog #25 - 27 December 2025
Hello again!I'm a bit delayed with this devlog, as I've been taking it easy during the holidays, and I am not yet in that stage of workaholism where I would work through family holidays :PI've been playing a lot of a game called "Citizen sleeper" it has sat in my Steam library pretty much since it came out, but somehow I never got around to playing it. It's pretty awesome! If you carve for a story heavy dice rpg with alot of angst about capitalism, that might be your cup of tea ^^I really wanna make my own dice rpg someday. I think such a project would fit Salmon Snake Games since half of the team are primarily writers and those require a lot of text. But we'll see. Let's at least finish CiC before thinking too much about any future projects. About this sprint's progress:Programming: 💠Added a shaking effect to units when they take damage💠 Fixed a bug that made it possible to see a wro…
- Crystal in Carnations Devlog #24 - 8 December 2025
This is Crystal in Carnations Devlog #24 The year is drawing to a close and this is the second to last devlog of the year, before we take a christmas + new years break. I'm happy that I've been able to keep these up this year. I'm not so sure that many people actually read these devlogs, but I think of them like a diary, I can go back to in a few years when I'm despairing over the development of our next game :P It's also feels kinda "purifying" to write these as I'm unloading the progress of the last sprint before starting the next one ^^ It feels good to see your progress in concrete points. 10/10 Would recommend journaling to everyone! But onto the devlog itself: Marketing: 💠Our wishlist count stands currently at 82 (+4) Slowly but steadily we climb. Even if I'm expecting that we get most of our wishlists only after we release our demo. At that time I'm also thinking of buying some…
- Crystal in Carnations Devlog #23 - 22 November 2025
This is Crystal in Carnations Devlog #23 Hello! It's me again with a devlog. I've been playing a lot of Fire Emblem Engage lately. I initially ignored the game for nearly three years, because the gacha game -esque art style really didn't appeal to me and I didn't hear anything good about the story either. (It is indeed made of cardboard) But over the years I heard a lot of good things about the game play mechanics of Engage. So in the spirit of widening my tactics game mental library and becoming a better game designer, I endure the toothpaste protagonist and play the game with my spouse. The ring based mechanics are indeed a riot (esp the movement based ones) The characters are flatter than my pizzas, but some of them do so well in battle that they have stolen my heart nonetheless. (Zelkov and Yunaka, my beloveds) We've had to restrict to playing only two maps /session, because the map…
- Crystal in Carnations Devlog #22 - 5 November 2025
This is a 22nd in a series of devlogs about Crystal in Carnations, but the first devlog in Steam. Furthermore, this particular devlog is extremely gif-heavy, but I assume most of my gifs will be way too big to upload here. If you want to see any earlier devlogs, or all the gifs, I encourage you to visit our Salmon Snake Games discord serverIf this is a first devlog of mine that you've read: Welcome! I'm so happy you're here! These devlogs are something I write in a biweekly-ish basis about the development of our game. They function as a kind of nice list of things my team and I accomplished over the last two weeks. Game development easily tricks your brain into wondering if you are actually progressing at all, so it's good to remind yourself of the things that you HAVE done.In these devlogs I chop the latest sprint in categories of art progress, programming progress, story progress and…
