  • Meet the Team: Oduvan Games - 21 September 2026

Behind the ships, characters, dialogue, interfaces, and tactical battles of Frontier: Path of Shadows are real people — so today, we thought it was finally time to introduce ourselves properly.Who kept production moving? Who turned ideas into game systems? Who wrote all those words, and who made sure they looked good on screen? And most importantly, what do all these people do when they’re not making games — and what do they think you should pay special attention to while playing Frontier: Path of Shadows?Maria — Producer and Creative DirectorMaria plays games of all kinds, loves traveling, dancing, keeping up with new technology and — deserving a category of its own — sleeping. On Frontier: Path of Shadows, Maria handles production and effectively leads the team: she sets priorities, helps make key project decisions, and makes sure all the different parts of development come together in…

  • From 7th Sea to Chess: What Inspired the Creators of Frontier - 18 September 2026

The world of Frontier existed long before the video game. It began as a setting for tabletop RPGs, changing alongside its players and gradually growing its own history, factions, and events. Years later, that material became the foundation for Frontier: Path of Shadows, where ideas originally created for tabletop play had to be reimagined through the language of video games.Tasia Filonova, narrative designer on Frontier, spoke with Nikita Evtushenko, the creator of the setting, and Dmitry Devyatnikov, the game designer, about Golden Age science fiction, the romance of space travel, chess, Mass Effect, and how a tabletop zone-based combat system eventually evolved into the game’s network of connected nodes.Where Did the World of Frontier Begin?Tasia: Nikita, you started creating this world long before the video game existed. What was the very first version of Frontier like?Nikita: I’ve a…

  • Hotfix: Balance, AI, Scanning and More Improvements - 17 September 2026

It’s been exactly one week since the release of Frontier: Path of Shadows, and we’ve spent that week carefully reading your feedback and bug reports. Now we’ve finally released a hotfix! The new build is already live on Steam. This update mainly focuses on balance, enemy AI, scanning, the interface, and making several game systems easier to understand. Here’s what changed.Smoother BalanceWe found that combat was generally a bit too punishing, especially early in the game, so we’ve eased the balance in several areas.Equipment now wears out more slowly, characters gain experience faster, and losing a random encounter is less costly. Some enemies have also been toned down, and the toughest random encounters should be less brutal. In addition, all player screens are now available from the very beginning of the game, including the character progression screen. This means you can start developi…

  • The Story of Frontier, Told by Producer Maria Korotkova - 15 September 2026

Frontier: Path of Shadows is out, which means this feels like a good time to look back. We've talked a lot here about the game, its world, characters, and mechanics, but we haven't said nearly as much about how the project itself came to be — or what it went through over the course of two years of development. So today, Maria Korotkova, the game's producer, is here to tell the story of Frontier. And honestly, it has enough twists for a small indie-development action movie. So make yourselves comfortable and follow along — this all started almost two years ago...Part 1: Startup or Employment — That Is the QuestionNot everyone knows that before Oduvan Games, my business partner Alexey and I had another startup: a small game studio backed by a much larger investor. A classic setup, really. We got our hands on it while we were still very inexperienced developers, made plenty of mistakes, and…

  • Frontier: Path of Shadows joins Steam’s Party-Based RPG Fest! - 14 September 2026

Steam's Party-Based RPG Fest celebrates RPGs where you adventure as a group of characters with their own personalities, skills, equipment, strengths, and roles both in and outside of combat. That makes Frontier feel right at home.At the heart of the game is the crew of the Simurgh: a small group of mercenaries trying to make their way through the fractured Epsilon Sector. Each member of the squad has their own abilities and equipment, and in tactical battles you control the whole team.Positioning matters. Choosing the right equipment matters. Knowing when to split the squad, when to keep everyone together, and how to combine your characters’ abilities can make the difference between getting paid and becoming another wreck floating somewhere in deep space. But your party is more than a collection of combat units. As you travel through the sector, you’ll get to know Jay, Alice, Rob, and Khan…

  • Demo Update - First Hour and Shop Rework! - 18 August 2026

We have some great news: Frontier: Path of Shadows is launching on September 10!With release less than a month away, we’re putting the finishing touches on the game — and we’ve just updated the free Steam demo so you can try some of the improvements right now. What’s changed?A faster start and more freedom from the beginningThe previous demo could make Frontier feel more linear and story-focused than it really is. Exploration and player choice are a big part of the experience, so we’ve reworked the opening to bring that across much sooner. You’ll now reach open space almost immediately. From there, you decide where to go, who to fight, and what parts of the sector to explore. The main story will still be there whenever you’re ready to pick it back up.No more equipment wear after a failed battleWe fixed an issue where equipment would lose durability even after a defeat. This meant that eve…

  • Frontier Technologies - 8 August 2026

When people in the Core Worlds talk about technology, they usually imagine the latest reactor design, a new warship, or another breakthrough in artificial intelligence. In reality, most of the technologies that define our lives today were invented centuries or even millennia ago. We do not live in an age of constant revolutions, but significant discoveries are still being made.Energy That Powers CivilizationsAny world capable of supporting large-scale industry or maintaining a space fleet relies on three key technologies: fusion power, planetary energy grids, and stellar energy collectors. The latter have become the true foundation of the modern economy. Deploy a network of collectors in orbit, and the star itself can provide enough energy to power entire continents, orbital stations, and industrial complexes.Materials are no less important. Modern spacecraft would be impossible without…

  • Artificial Intelligence in 25 century - 6 August 2026

Artificial intelligence has become one of humanity's greatest achievements, and one of its greatest mysteries. They cannot be programmed, copied, or replaced. Every AI is a unique individual whose creation demands enormous resources, time, and expertise. In this article, we explore the nature of artificial minds in the 25th century: from the birth of an AI personality to its role within the society of the Oecumene. The Nature of MindThe emergence of artificial intelligence did not bring humanity any closer to understanding itself. If anything, the opposite happened. The more advanced our technology became, the more apparent it was that while we had learned to create minds, we still did not truly understand what a mind is.Research into AI only reinforced this conclusion. One of the most widespread misconceptions of the 21st-23rd centuries was the belief that consciousness was nothing more…

  • Alice's Origin: Life in the Centaur Corporation Union - 4 August 2026

The Centaur Corporation Union is the most technologically advanced power in the Oecumene and the homeland of Alice, one of the first companions you'll meet during your journey across the Frontier. To better understand the person who will accompany you through the fringes of known space, it's worth taking a closer look at the society that shaped her.A Nation Ruled by CorporationsThe Centaur Corporation Union is a state built around humanity's largest corporations. They provide security, drive scientific progress, manage the economy, and define the nation's political direction. In Centaur, pragmatism always comes before idealism. This mindset is what shaped Alice. She understands the Frontier's economy, knows the true value of things, and can quickly tell whether a deal is worth taking—or whether someone is trying to cheat you. During your journey, she often becomes the voice of reason. The…

  • Powers of the Frontier - 20 June 2026

Very little happens on the Frontier by accident. Behind every pirate raid, lucrative contract, trade route, or sudden political intrigue stands one of Epsilon’s major powers. And if you're planning to spend any amount of time in the sector, it pays to know who you'll be dealing with.House NoPeople on the Frontier say that House No makes money even when nobody is buying anything. Officially, this noble house operates in the entertainment business. It oversees casinos, restaurants, media networks, and other perfectly legal pleasures for the wealthy citizens of the Oikumene. In reality, No’s influence reaches deep into the shadow economy, touching everything from smuggling and questionable deals to services that polite society prefers not to discuss out loud.Umbros Station serves as House No’s headquarters on the Frontier. One of the sector’s most important trade routes passes through it,…

  • Colors of the Crystal - 19 June 2026

One of the strangest discoveries out on the Frontier is an ancient crystal symbiote. Ever since meeting it, Jay's life has gotten more complicated and the number of problems and people chasing him has gone way up.The symbiote is an ancient lifeform, trying to understand its host and the world around it. And the longer they share a body, the more they shape each other. As you play, your decisions gradually shape the symbiote's personality. It watches how you handle negotiations, resolve conflicts, explore the world, and treat other people. Over time, the crystal starts mirroring your traits and unlocks new possibilities.Red resonates with those who act rather than wait. It favors bold decisions, a willingness to take responsibility, and the drive to get results at any cost. Threats, assaults, risky plans, or open shows of force these are what tend to bring out Red.Blue values the ability…

  • Worlds of Frontier: First Sight - 17 June 2026

As the squad makes its way across the Frontier, they'll come across all kinds of places—from lost colonies and trading posts to worlds scarred by war. Every single one of them has its own story and its own set of problems, and you can bet you'll get dragged into both.Catalina IVIf Catalina IV ever shows up in your navigation log, check your ship's insurance. Twice. A powerful engine, a stray energy pulse, or even a noise that's just a little too loud can stir up a storm. And the lightning here? No joke. One strike can knock a ship right out of the sky.The planet is almost entirely covered in ocean. Sailboats and airships weave between the islands, while cargo from orbit comes down on anti-gravity ferries. When the atmosphere itself declares war on plasma engines, people have no choice but to get creative.Catalina came out of the Third Interstellar War better than most frontier worlds, b…

Short description

X-COM inspired tactical game. 25th century. The war with the mysterious Utopia is over — but new threats emerge. Come to the vast Frontier: assemble your crew, face tough choices, explore unknown worlds and win tactical battles!

About this game

What is the Frontier? The barely charted outskirts of known space, where everything comes down to chance: strike it rich today, end up rotting in a pirate hold tomorrow. Many come here chasing glory and fortune. We're just trying to live here. Most days, survive. The Simurgh is a battered corvette, but the crew is top-tier. Rob keeps us flying straight and makes sure we don't crash on landing. Alice lives in the engine room, keeping the ship from falling apart. She can also crack a system or two when needed. Khan knows more than the rest of us combined. We don't question it: his mission plans speak for themselves. And then there's me — Jay . I joined them after a sentient crystal — hunted across half the galaxy — got into my head and turned my life as a simple courier upside down. Now I have to figure out what it is, how to communicate with it and what's really happening on the Frontier while the rest of humanity looks the other way. And you know what? We could use your help. CODE RED PLAN YOUR STRATEGY: We took the best of X-COM and Final Fantasy and stripped away unnecessary coin-flipping. Every move matters. Procedurally generated maps adapt to your past decisions, keeping every encounter fresh and challenging. CODE GREEN EXPLORE THE FRONTIER: The Frontier is vast and largely uncharted. Travel to worlds no one has set foot on, gather resources, earn credits, and unlock new opportunities. GROW STRONGER: Upgrade your squad, look for better armor and weapons, and replace outdated gear whenever you get the chance. Equipment failure in the middle of a fight is the last thing you want. High-end tech is rare out here, but a skilled merc always finds a way. CODE BLUE CHOOSE YOUR PATH: Jay wants to survive. Johnson wants to be remembered. And what the crystal symbiont wants… no one really knows. Choose your allies and enemies, uncover the secrets of the Frontier, and shape the fate of humanity. CHANGE THE WORLD: For 15 years, we've been building this universe together with our players. Now it's your turn to leave your mark. The first chapter of the story is out now. CODE WHITE So… what the hell is all this color symbolism about?

Price History Overview

USD uses SteamPulse's own locally recorded daily store snapshots, so this overview reflects the exact regional price history that SteamPulse has captured for this currency.

Coverage And Tracking Window

  • Snapshots: 1
  • Coverage: Sep 22, 2026 to Sep 22, 2026
  • Lowest observed: $12.74
  • Highest observed: $12.74

Frontier: Path of Shadows's USD price history spans from Sep 22, 2026 to Sep 22, 2026, with 1 recorded snapshot across 1 calendar day. Each row records the available final price, listed base price, and discount metadata for that observation. Within this coverage the lowest recorded price is $12.74, the highest is $12.74, and the first visible tracked price is $12.74. These comparisons apply only to the snapshots SteamPulse holds; missing observations can contain changes that are not represented here.

For USD, SteamPulse uses locally captured regional storefront snapshots and does not reconstruct older prices with exchange-rate conversion. The chart and table show the values recorded for this exact currency from the stated coverage start. Additional snapshots extend that record, but they do not fill unobserved days or prove what the storefront displayed between observations.

Discount Windows And Sale Timing

  • Discount windows: 0
  • Discounted days: 0 days
  • Deepest markdown: No discount tracked
  • Latest sale window: No sale window tracked

Frontier: Path of Shadows's tracked USD rows do not contain a discount window. This means no available snapshot in the stated coverage has usable discount metadata; it does not prove that the game was never discounted. Missing snapshots or archived rows without complete metadata can hide a sale, so SteamPulse does not infer pricing strategy from this absence.

If a later snapshot includes discount metadata, it will appear here with its recorded depth, price, date, and sale name when available. Until then, this section should be read only as a description of the available rows, not as evidence about the publisher's promotion policy.

Observed Price Changes And Stable Runs

  • Observed price drops: 0
  • Observed price rises: 0
  • Longest stable run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking
  • Current run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking

Outside rows carrying discount metadata, the tracked price has not recorded a separate price rise or drop yet. That means the observed undiscounted level has stayed stable across the snapshots SteamPulse currently holds. This is a statement about the recorded coverage only; it does not prove that an older or missing price change never happened.

The longest unchanged price stretch in the current record lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at $12.74, from Sep 22, 2026 through Sep 22, 2026. Among rows without discount metadata, the longest unchanged run lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at $12.74. The latest run records $12.74 for 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking as the same recorded undiscounted price. Run lengths describe consecutive stored observations only and do not establish that a price is permanent.

Latest Snapshot And Sales Context

  • Current price: $12.74
  • Current list price: $14.99
  • Distinct observed prices: 1
  • Source mode: SteamPulse local tracking

The latest tracked snapshot records Frontier: Path of Shadows at $12.74 in USD, with no active discount metadata. Across the available history SteamPulse has recorded 1 distinct final price in this currency. This supports comparisons with the lowest, highest, and most common values present in the retained record, subject to the stated coverage limits.

The live sales view and Steam sales record provide calendar context for these dates. A date overlap can be compared with a named Steam event, but it does not prove why a publisher changed a price. As new daily rows arrive, this overview recalculates its observed prices, discount windows, and run lengths automatically.
