  • Double Envelopment Mid-September Update! - 12 September 2026

Hello everyone!I will start by acknowledging that I am late in releasing the game. I said I was confident I could release it by early September but that is obviously not the case right now.The reason for that is, upon asking for more feedback from RTS players on my game's overall look, I received blunt but valid criticism on the graphics and art style, as well as on the UI/animations. A part of me suspected I should have invested in better graphics but my entire focus was OPTIMIZING the game for performance, which made me believe subpar textures and graphics would be overlooked more. Therefore, I am taking more time in September to improve and polish the unit models, graphics, textures, and gameplay. I will release DE to Early Access by the end of September, which is when I will likely be satisfied with the new progress. The bright side is, because I decided to polish the game more, I hav…

  • Double Envelopment EARLY ACCESS News! - 29 August 2026

Hello everyone!August has been a very, VERY busy month for Double Envelopment, and I am excited to share that I plan to release it to early access sometime next week!MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS I'VE MADE--UNIT STATUS SPRITES- All units now have a "Unit Sprite" above their heads/tops, that shows their current health and also shows if they are out of ammo/fuel! If the unit is resupplied, the out of ammo/fuel status is rescinded.TANKS FLIP BACK OVER- Tanks will automatically right themselves if they flip over while controlling one!NEW TEXTURES- Soldier textures have been improved with new backpack, armor, and camo textures for a more detailed look! Tanks also received a new texture, and the main grass texture has been updated as well!LOCK-ON FOR HELOS AND JETS- You now have the ability to lock on to enemy aircraft when controlling a fighter jet or attack helicopter, and missiles you fire will follo…

  • Double Envelopment Mid-August Progress Update + Important Announcement - 17 August 2026

Hello everyone! A lot of progress has been on Double Envelopment in August!I would like to begin by addressing the announcement about the map editor and the naval units in the game. I have decided to sideline both of these for the Early Access build of the game, as I am encountering numerous issues in need of improvement for them, and neither of them would be fully ready in time for Early Release. Therefore, I am no prioritizing land-based units, campaign mode, gameplay improvement, graphics improvements, and UI mechanics, as these are the most developed aspects of the game. After Early Access I will have more time to dedicate to improving the map editor, but I am not certain I will re-include naval units, because as I mentioned, I want the game to lean towards land/air combat and city capture.Since I am sidelining the map editor and naval units, I will lower the Early Access price of t…

  • Double Envelopment July Progress Update! - 4 August 2026

Howdy all! July has been perhaps the busiest month for Double Envelopment development! I have made significant progress on the gameplay and AI aspects. Most notably are:-The Supply And Logistics System. Supply trucks that spawn at your FOBs (forward operating bases) will create a 'supply point' upon reaching a node on the current offensive that does not have one. These supply points are used by nearby units to replenish ammo/fuel, and can run out of both unless you manage a proper supply line to that point.-The Air Defense System. I definitely have the most fun with this! The enemy faction can now construct missile launchers and interceptors, and you can also purchase air defenses that intercept enemy missiles and protect your FOBs. You can also purchase your own missile launchers and order strikes anywhere on the map, with enemy air defense reacting as your air defense would.-The Damag…

  • Double Envelopment June Progress Recap! - 4 July 2026

Hello everyone!I am excited to say that Double Envelopment is back in development and I have made a lot of improvements on the gameplay in it!Notably, the biggest improvements were:-Creation of a new offensive manager that lists offensives you have created (up to 8), along with an 'Assign To Offensive' mechanic that lets you select any ground unit and order them to the selected offensive.-Reworking of how offensives store nodes. Drawing arrows on the map creates a 'node' position at the last arrow of that draw. You can have many of these nodes on one offensive, and these nodes allow new units to join an offensive at that node and continue from it, rather than having to be inside a radius near the offensive start like how they used to work.-Instead of solely having to purchase units with the in-game money, ally forward bases can now produce units of your choosing, and will automatically…
