- Fixed Spacebar opens most recent interface - 19 September 2026
This is a small patch that disables the game engine's default user input events. Now if you open and close the Research (or any other) interface, and then press spacebar, only the intended effect (whatever is set in the input map in the game options -- default is "end turn") will occur, and the Research interface will not re-open.

The recent playtest gave so much helpful feedback and ideas! I've implemented almost all of it; here's what's been done so far that you can expect to see in version 12 in the next playtest:- Complete overhaul of alien civilization behavior- Completely new random event/happiness system- Colony shuttles: claim planets in the same system as your existing colonies- Build queues- Rally points- Techs added to demo: Starbases, Hyper-thrusters, Colony shuttles- Destroyed structures can be repaired- Show the route of the selected fleet in a different color- Removed nexus techs; nexuses are available by default- Play/pause button for game-over graph- Increased missile damage- Changed ancestral virtues available to demo- Added cheat codes for playtesting- Fixed many bugs and crashes

I'm excited to announce a complete overhaul of the combat system. Space combat is now turn-based and gives you much greater control over your fleets! I will start a public playtest soon to get feedback.

I'm thrilled to announce that Vega Chronicle now has adjustable difficulty settings:Casual: Alien civilizations are friendly unless you attack first.Normal: Alien civilizations try to win.Impossible: Alien civilizations have more resources than you.Other improvements over the last month include an entirely new fleet combat system, new prosperity and disaster events, and more technologies to research!Stay tuned for a playtest around the end of the month to try out these new systems.

I'm excited to report that the Debut Festival and the 4X Festival were awesome for building awareness of Vega Chronicle:We more than doubled our wishlist count over about two weeksWe received feedback encouraging us to to translate the game into more languages, starting with Simplified Chinese, which we are currently working on.We learned about other cool 4X games currently in development (Check out Folk Emerging).
