  • Celebrating 400k wishlists and Open Playtest (10-14 September) - 4 September 2026

We’ve passed 400,000 wishlists on Steam. Normally, this is where we’d give you the carefully written PR paragraph about how overjoyed, thrilled, humbled, and generally delighted we are to have reached such an incredible milestone. And, well…we are, but what’s written below is probably a lot closer to what actually went through our heads when we saw the number. 400,000 is, frankly, a slightly ridiculous number of people waiting to see what happens when you put a fishing trawler, a flooded world on the brink of collapse and permanent mutation, and several deeply questionable lifeforms in the same game. Seriously though, whether you’ve been following DREADMOOR from the start, shared it with someone else, joined one of our playtests, or sent us feedback along the way, thank you. You’ve helped us get the game this far, and we really do genuinely appreciate it. And very soon, you’ll get anoth…

  • Dev Diary #6: The Trawler as a Lifeline - 28 August 2026

Welcome to our sixth Dev Diary, where we return once more to the world of DREADMOOR to talk about something that is central to how the player experiences the Submerged Lands: the trawler. In our previous Dev Diaries, we looked at the world after the collapse, the Sea Blight, the importance of fishing, and how DREADMOOR builds tension without relying on constant combat. All of those topics connect back to one simple fact: the world of DREADMOOR is not a place where the player can freely walk from one safe point to another; rather, the world is flooded, broken, and divided by water. Because of that, the trawler is not just a way to travel; you can't see it as simply "the boat" that takes the player from one location to the next. It is the thing that allows the player to reach dangerous places, return from them, gather resources, fish in deeper waters, and ultimately survive in our flooded…

  • Dev Diary #5: How DREADMOOR Builds Tension Without Constant Combat - 19 August 2026

Welcome to our fifth Dev Diary, where we return to the world of DREADMOOR and talk about something that sits at the heart of the game’s atmosphere: tension. In our previous Dev Diaries, we looked at the world of DREADMOOR, the importance of fishing, the Sea Blight, and what came after the collapse. All of these things are connected by one shared idea, which is that danger in DREADMOOR should not only exist when something is attacking you, it needs to exist "in the world" as well. Of course, there will be threats so players will need to defend themselves, however, constant combat is not what we are aiming for. Why? Because DREADMOOR is not meant to be a game where fear only begins when an enemy appears on screen, instead, we want tension to build from the world itself. This ranges from the fog that obscures your vision, the silence that makes every sound feel sharper, the distance betwee…

  • Dev Diary #4: The World After the Collapse - 22 June 2026

Welcome to our fourth Dev Diary, where we return once more to the world of DREADMOOR to look at what came after the collapse. In our first Dev Diary, we introduced the world of DREADMOOR, one that has been drowned both literally (by water) and figuratively in loneliness, melancholy, and tension. It is a post-apocalyptic world that is not fully dead, but at the same time not truly alive either. In our second Dev Diary, we spoke about fishing not as a mechanic, but as a necessity. After all, in a flooded world, survival depends on what you can gather, craft, and carry with you; this pretty much makes fishing a necessity! In our third Dev Diary, we looked at the Sea Blight, one of the most important forces shaping the world of DREADMOOR. Today, we want to step back and look at the world itself. Not just what it looks like, but how it became what it is now, what remains of the old world, ho…

  • Exclusive Limited Fan Preview Results Are In! - 5 June 2026

The waters have settled once again, and with that, the latest DREADMOOR public playtest has come to an end. During Steam Ocean Fest, players spent time in the Submerged Lands fishing, scavenging, exploring, and seeing just how much trouble they could get into before the Wastes pushed back. Across the playtest, the flooded world saw plenty of activity. Boats moved through the swamp, lines were cast into uncertain waters, lockpicks were broken, and the trading hut became an unexpectedly popular place to stop. Some players were careful. Others were less careful, falling victim to the tentacles! These numbers will now remain as part of DREADMOOR’s growing record, proof that the Submerged Lands were visited, tested, disturbed, and very thoroughly fished. The results of this playtest will now feed back into the development of DREADMOOR. The numbers are useful, but so are the moments behind th…

  • 200,000 Wishlists. Thank you! - 21 May 2026

Hello everyone, When we crossed 100,000 wishlists earlier this year, we were seriously surprised, and, of course, incredibly grateful. For where DREADMOOR was at that point in development, it was already one of the best votes of confidence that we could have received, so, imagine our surprise now, as we are already getting close to crossing… DREADMOOR is still very much in development, and while we have always believed in the game, seeing this many of you show interest in it, follow it, share it, and wishlist it means a great deal to us. So, before anything else, we want to once again give you our heartfelt thanks. Where We Are Now Since the 100,000 wishlist milestone, we have been focused on one thing, building DREADMOOR. The most important thing for us has not changed: we want DREADMOOR to feel like a proper survival fishing adventure set in a dangerous, flooded world, and not just a…

  • Play the DREADMOOR Exclusive Limited Fan Preview During Steam Ocean Fest! - 18 May 2026

Hello everyone, The Submerged Lands are about to open once again, thanks to DREADMOOR taking part in Steam Ocean Fest. During the event, we’ll be running a new exclusive fan preview for you to play and see for yourself what the game is all about! When you try the new limited version, you'll see for yourself that since the previous playtest, we have been hard at work improving, reworking, and expanding many of the systems that make up the DREADMOOR experience. What Have We Changed? For those of you who took part in our limited playtest back in January but have not joined any of our smaller focus tests, this version of DREADMOOR will feel very different - still the same game, but much bigger, and much better! Since the first playtest, we have been hard at work improving, reworking, and expanding many of the systems and mechanics that shape DREADMOOR. Some of those changes will be noticeab…

  • Dev Diary #3: The Sea Blight and the Logic of Mutation - 28 April 2026

There are many dangers in the world of DREADMOOR, some can be seen, some can be heard, and some drift silently through the air, or lie hidden beneath the surface of the water. The Sea Blight is one of them. Not a creature, nor a weapon, nevertheless, it has shaped the world of DREADMOOR more than anything else that has come after the collapse. WHAT IS THE SEA BLIGHT? Surprising though it may be, the Sea Blight existed before the apocalypse that devastated the world. It was discovered during an expedition to the far North as a biological substance, but before the collapse, it was not known as a blight. In fact, it was seen as a breakthrough for humanity and found its way into medicine, science, and engineering. It brought forth advancements that would have once been deemed impossible. However, after the apocalyptic events that submerged the world, the Sea Blight did not remain the same;…

  • Dev Diary #2: Fishing - 7 April 2026

Welcome to our second Dev Diary, where we dive into the world of DREADMOOR to give you a look behind the scenes of what we're doing and how the world that we're building works. Today, we're looking at one of the core mechanics of the game, Fishing. However, we are not going to look at it from a game mechanic side, but from what we aim for on an emotional level. For those who want to try out the fishing to see what it's like mechanically, we run regular focus tests where we invite our community members to playtest the game.. If you are interested, please join our Discord server (link) and let us know that you'd like to be in the focus test group. Fishing in DREADMOOR In most games, fishing is a moment of peace, something to break the chaotic fast-paced action, or, in the more cozy games, it can be something to help you with cooking, while giving you a different sort of (relaxing) challen…

  • 100,000 Wishlists. Thank you! - 5 March 2026

Hello everyone, After the fun, but somewhat chaotic start to DREADMOOR last year, 2026 has been a treat, the playtest was a big success, we saw that the vast majority of you liked the game (big sigh of relief there), and for us to be able to prove that we're actually working on a real game was a huge weight off our backs. So, imagine our surprise when we notice that we just crossed the 100,000 wishlist milestone here on Steam. For where DREADMOOR is now (in terms of development cycle), this is the best vote of confidence that we could have received, so we want to take a moment to give you our heartfelt thanks! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3629430/DREADMOOR Where We Are For those of you who are curious to know, since the early pre-alpha playtest, we've been focused entirely on building DREADMOOR. The best part is, the feedback that you gave us has already proven its value as we use…

  • The Early Pre-Alpha Playtest Results! - 29 January 2026

The waters have gone quiet again, and that can only mean one thing: the DREADMOOR Pre-Alpha playtest has come to an end. Left behind is the recorded data and observations of the players as they frantically attempted to get out of the Wastes, through the giant Beaver dam, no less! For a short time, the eerily calm of the Submerged Land was disturbed. Boats cut through the stale swamp waters, lines were cast, fish were caught, and risks were taken where caution might have been wiser. What remains now is not the players themselves, but a record of their actions, captured, measured, and preserved. These numbers will now live on for an eternity, proof that the Submerged Lands are real and that they have truly been visited by people! As for what will happen next, this playtest has already reshaped DREADMOOR in ways that won’t always be obvious. Systems will be reworked. Assumptions will be ch…

  • Join the Early Pre-Alpha Playtest! - 5 January 2026

The Submerged Land is almost ready to open its waters to a small group of early explorers. On the 12th of January, we will begin selecting players for the Early Pre-Alpha Playtest, which will be a focused look at one location, one storyline, and the core systems that shape the DREADMOOR gaming experience. On the 12th of January, we will be inviting players to take part in a pre-alpha playtest, giving them an early look at DREADMOOR and the core game mechanics. Important: this is a Pre-Alpha playtest, and thus is a very early look at the game. So, for those who are looking to join, please keep in mind that bugs and crashes are possible, you will come across unfinished content, and finally, the game will run (and hopefully smoothly), but we’ve not focused on optimisation, so the system requirements and overall load on your hardware will be high. Overview: Platform: Steam (PC) Language: Eng…

  • Dev Diary #1: Welcome to the Submerged Land - 5 December 2025

Welcome to DREADMOOR, a world steeped in loneliness, melancholy, and quiet tension, where every faint echo or ripple is a hint that the world around you is never entirely still. The world of DREADMOOR exists in a strange in-between state, changed, weathered, and reshaped over time, yet still unmistakably alive. Set in “The Submerged Land”, this post-apocalyptic reflection of our Earth bears the marks of radiation, Sea Blight, biotechnological failures, and the slow erosion that comes with time. The world we are building is not a fully fictional world, nor a direct mirror of reality. Instead, it is a hybrid; you will come across familiar landscapes, albeit submerged beneath ever-rising waters, with only fragments of human civilization clinging to the surface. What remains of the world is often weathered and overgrown with moss, unusual growths, and marked by the irradiated remnants of pa…

  • Lovecraftian fishing sim Dreadmoor is Dredge with the first-person sailing of Sea Of Thieves - 15 April 2025

The Completely Normal Fishing subgenre continues to flourish with the announcement of Dreadmoor, a jolly little tugboat enterprise set in a world of island-sized ribcages and heightened background radiation. My goodness, so normal! Normality readings off the scale. I am confident that nothing foetid and otherworldly waits in the darkness, far below your rudder. Here's a trailer. Read more
